Anyone enlighten me, plz.

Nothing, other than the fact that domino-chan lives on the other side of the city.

I live five minutes away :)

The're just holding the tourney in the wrong effin' city.

Henderson and more specificly, the suburb of Green Valley, are a completely different entity from the Las Vegas Metropolitan area (I.E. "Vegas"). The're somewhat close geograpicly but it's not like a Dallas/Ft. Worth type of situation. Las Vegas and Hooterville (Henderson) are completely seperate and aren't interchanageable.

Incidentally, Green Valley is a middle/mid-upper class suburb, so it's not like it's a demilitarized zone or anything. There's nothing wrong with the location itself, per se (except being in the wrong @#$%ing city), but how shalli I put it: the PT Cruser to population ratio is uncomforabily high for my taste. (Also, it just makes me think that they ran out of locations in Las Vegas proper and had to settle)

As taitai and NeoTheranthrope have pointed out, the city of Henderson -- where the Green Valley Ranch casino/resort is located -- is at the south-ass end of the Las Vegas valley. From the Green Valley Ranch's website, here's a map of the Las Vegas valley, with Green Valley Ranch marked near bottom-center, along with the other Station Casinos properties around the valley. The Las Vegas Strip is near the center of the map -- it's the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard running between Tropicana Avenue (where you'll find the Excalibur, New York New York, MGM Grand, and the Tropicana) and Sahara Avenue (where you'll find the Sahara hotel/casino).

I have to agree with NeoTheranthrope when he theorizes that, as late in the game as the location arrangements were being made, Green Valley Ranch might've been the best of the few options the organizers had left to them. It could be for the best, though -- I don't know how many minors will travel across the country to attend EVO, but I can just imagine them all spilling out onto Las Vegas Blvd after hours if this thing had been held at a location on The Strip itself (at least this way, anyone looking to get into trouble on The Strip will have to work a bit to get there).

I don't think they are holding it in the wrong city. Henderson is just fine. Green Valley Ranch is a nice Casino and with the District they just built next to it, it is a cool place to go visit. The Green Valley Ranch is a nice new part of town and it sure ain't the overcrowded strip. What do you expect from an off strip casino? The strip? Of course not. Besides a casino on the strip would have probably cost too much for this type of an event.

Saying Henderson isn't part of Vegas is like saying Santa Monica isn't part of LA or Scottsdale isn't a part of Phoenix. Henderson is Las Vegas Metro. I think you get my point.

However, if the tourney really happens to carry KOF2K2 , I just fucking hope someone from NG.com wins it. I really fucking do.

Good luck my buddies. :buttrock:

I'll just have to see what I can do (at this point, I'm not exactly concerned, though).

Btw, we should have a list of the people who are planning on attending, no?
I believe most of us locals are planning to attend -- at least, most of us have been talking about attending since Las Vegas was announced a few months back. I'm definitely looking forward to that weekend.

I was thinking it'd be great to see neo-geo.com get as much representation as possible, attendee-wise. If we could get a dozen or more of the forum members to show up at EVO wearing these -- unfortunately, they don't offer them in red (for the true Terry Bogard experience), but perhaps the blue 2P Terry color would work just as well.

I could probably be talked into purching that trucker hat but the question is: how am I going to fit it under the paper bag I'll be wearing?

(that reminds me, I have to find a properly sized bag for use while practicing my jumping slash -> rambu -> going my way -> kick, kick -> Gamble Attack "Now it hurst to sit down" 15/25/45% combo)
