I just bought ZOE (1st one) at EB Games, used, no manual/demo disc, $5.
I've never played it (and I won't be able to for some time, since I don't have a PS2 in my dorm right now). I remember that back during PS2 launch, this was one of the games that I really wanted to get (though I only got a PS2 last Winter).

How is it? Comments?
Gamespot gives it a 7.4, but I've always liked these sort of games, though.

So.

You bought a game, and then decided to ask questions about it?

Its a great game but the second one is much better IMO. The first one has great action but the story is short and the main character is pretty awful. The controls are very well done and it is still fun throughout. Try to pick up ZOE 2 if you see it though.

But under what category would you clasify the game? Is it an RPG, action, adventure? I also saw it for 10 bucks, can't remember whether it was part 1 or 2, wanted to buy it. But I also had my doubt, probly will though if I come across it again...

I'm one of the few that like ZOE1 more than ZOE2.

ZOE1's a great game despite the whiney ass main character. Beautiful graphics for the time, some sweet techno music and the action is just fast and hard...it looks really badass slicing up another mech at close-range. It's just really unfortunate that the game itself is only around 3 hours long (it was for me on my first playthrough). Definitely one of the biggest cliffhanger endings in any game, ever.

ZOE2 falters in that it just never 'takes off'...you know? It just never had a climax to me, and that escort mission in the beginning of the game was just a pain and a bore. The graphics are drop-dead gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but that fast action from the first game just never clicked with me in The 2nd Runner.

Not to mention Konami didn't fix the problem of having a dick of a main character in the sequel.

Zone of Enders was good, not very good, but enjoyable.

Anubis - Zone of the Enders (aka 2nd Runner) is one of the best games ever created. It has amazing graphics, incredible music, great overall design, very good direction... it's definitely one of my favourite games ever.
