Ever wanted to jump into the import wii scene, but didn't want to pay the outrageous prices importers charge for systems?

My japanese system has been made so it can run homebrew, through softmodding, so it can be reverted to a completely vanilla japanese machine.

Just for my own wanting to know: softmodding doesn't allow for running different region games? I was under the impression it did. I have a hard-modded american wii only because softmodding wasn't around at the time. I'm worried that if something happens to my wii and I need to get a new one, softmodding won't let me play my imports.. Is this the case?

you can install applications which allow for region free play.

things like gecko os will allow region free play, you just need to hope that future hardware will allow softmodding.
