What is the purpose of Yamakzaki's F-D-DF Kick in KOF 98?

Maybe I should have asked this 10 years ago when more people cared.

I don't understand the point or purpose to Yamazaki's :dragf: :B: / :D:

The B version is an overhead for the 2nd hit yes, but there's a lot of time between the first and the second hit.

The D version is just a gimp move from what I can see.

I COULD understand it if either move would connect with someone on the ground, but it does not.

Or if the D version would guard stagger, or if you could follow either up with anything, but as I see it, these just seem to be much weaker options than other moves he has, in EVERY aspect. They're not even like badass moves, or a humiliation move to end opponents with.

sand kick?
lt kick is a good overhead when pressuring folks,
but I use it a lot of times as an anti air.
Of course a lp snake tamer does the same job, but the lk sand kick feels more humiliating.
also fun fact, you can combo a snake tamer right after a blocked hk sand kick.
makes for a fun pressure game.
yama is a great guy to frustrate people with by playing distance games.
not only does his normals have reach, but he plays great close as well.

He is even more brutal in the FF series, especially in RBS and RB2. His knife attack is better in the KOF games though.
