Just wondering since there are a number of people here who own some form of a Super Nova what boards do you have? I know that many have the MVS but I know others have like Capcom boards or whatever.

I have a Super Nova with a custom 2 slot (painted black with a red Neo Geo MVS sign on it) with Samurai Shodown 2, Metal Slug X, King of Fighters 96, Ninja Commandos, and am waiting for my Metal Slug 3 to arrive. I also have a CPS2 A board with Super Street Fighter 2 & Street Fighter Zero 2. Also have SF Champion Edition. All the games look great on the 2 slot but the CPS 2 puts out far to bright a picture and doesn't look to good.

i'm getting a home-built supergun from Arakon (should be here soon) and i'll be able to use my mini 1-slot, cps2 board, and st-v board with it (provided i get some button issues fixed with the st-v).

Shin Guile: known problem, if you can open yours up, solder a 75 ohm resistor into each R, G and B line, that fixes it to a normal level and keeps MVS etc at a good level as well.

Thanks for the advice Arakon. One question though, were on the R, G, B wires should I solder the 75 ohm resister at?

your pick, you can cut the wires and connect one side of the resistor to each wire end, or (preferably) you desolder the wire from the jamma plug, solder one end of the resistor to the pin on the plug, and the other to the wire.

I'm no expert on the CPS2 boards, but do you want to run the 75Ohm resistor to ground from the RGB line? That's what I had to do on my RGB converter circuit.

Back on topic:

I have a MVS 4-slot, I'm building the case around it now, should be finished wood, and I plan on having some Neo Geo and SNK decals on it.

Peace

the resistors go directly between the wires, not to ground.. it'll simply weaken the signal enough to output an acceptable picture.

Thanks for the help, I have had this problem for a few months now with no luck so I will try this out this weekend. I have the Massystems Super Nova, one question, why didn't they do this in the first place to get a picture that wouldn't be so bright?

I just opened my Super Nova up and I am kind of lost. I know how to solder but I have never really tinkered around with something like that. I just need to find the right wires. I know many websites that have the jamma pinouts but I am not sure what is where and so forth. I checked my Jamma harness but there is no pin A and so forth to mark what wire is where. Any idea's?

alright.. plug a MVS in, then at the jamma plug, look at the side which is facing the part which has 6 pins seperated from the rest by a missing pin ("key" hole), it's at the right if you look straight at the MVS board. kinda looks like this:

||||||||||||||||||...||_||||||

the rightmost pin is pin 1, the leftmost is in 28, parts side (called that cause that's where all the chips are on the game board). the bottom side is called solder side (cause of the solder spots)
now you count to pin 12 parts side (that's the 5th pin after the key pin).. that'r R. next to it (pin 13) is B. on the solder side/opposite side of the R pin, you got G.
now unsolder the wire on those 3 pins (12, 13 parts side, 12 solder side), then solder a resistor to each of those pins and the wires to the other end of the resistor. that's it.
