In the afternoon of 01-01-08 around 3: 30 PM afternoon, the last arcade standing in Austin Tx in the UT area; Einstein's Arcade, was officially shut down.

This is the sad truth. No previous notice was issued to anybody at the arcade, not even the manager was aware of what was going to happen until he showed up for work this day.:oh_no:

I am still a bit shaken by this. It was the last arcade that had a Neo cab and the manager had told me that he was working on getting Twinkle Star Sprites for it. How could the owner do this to all of the regulars? ON NEW YEARS!!?:mad:

wasn't there another one inside the UT campus? i could almost swear i saw neowave there in 04, cant' remember that well.

and other than einstein's i thought there was another one in guadalupe, though i could be wrong i haven't been there in years.

sucks, man that is truly sad.

The 4 slot neo cab w/ 4 games that I had won on the 2nd, the only day of the auction, does not work anymore. So they will give me my money back.... I bought it for only $300, so if it can still be repaired that would be awesome! I swear that neo was working two years ago when the Back-Room was shut down!:crying:

I knew what this would say before I even read your post :(

Einstein's was amazing with how much good quality stuff was crammed into that small location. I went there during a trip just after SVCC was out, and it was so crowded with people playing those deluxe standup cabs.


Damn, this is not cool.

Oh no...

I was so looking forward to visiting Einstein's during my March visit. I have such good memories of that place. :(

yea.
they have two that i know of nowadays.
i go to the one off san pedro, and i believe bandera is still around,
don't know if there's anymore though.
