Street Fighter EX Plus - No background music, but Sound Effects OK

So I just got my first Capcom/Sony ZN-1 game, Street Fighter EX Plus and as soon as I started playing it I noticed that something felt...off.

Even though every sound effect is present, every background music is totally absent:

I checked every option on the service menu searching for some "turn off music" but there isn't such thing. I tried all dip switch combinations, nothing, so there's probably some faulty component.

Any advice on how can I fix it?

-Unplug daughter board (game rom).
-Clean contacts.
-Re-seat the daughter board.

*make sure all volume pots are turned up/in good working order. Not insulting your intelligence-sometimes they go bad.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I've unplugged the boards, cleaned everything (it was already very clean, actually), I even removed every eeprom that is in a socket and also cleaned them, but it made no difference whatsoever. I've located only one volume dial and it changes the master volume as far as I'm concerned, when I try and adjust it affects the sound effects so it's working, but the background music never comes back. Unless I'm very stupid and there's a specific dial for the background music that I didn't locate yet.

Sorry to hear, man.
Not a separate dial for music, the pot on your cab or supergun.

But, you are getting SFX and no tunes…it might be the Q•Sound chip as mentioned earlier.

Shouldn't that stop the game from outputting any kind of sound?

Music (but not SFX) issues are a fault I’ve seen on Capcom ZN boards personally and with others online. Most point to the Q-Sound or Z80. I’m not sure where the fault typically lies, and I haven’t gotten around to probing on mine.
