I was hunting around looking for threads with photos of arcades, but just came up with a bunch of broken image links and deactivated flickr accounts, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Whenever I travel I like to take pictures of the arcades I find. I still have to sort through a bunch of external drives, but I found a few sets today.

If you have any, post them.

I can always count on a ton of EXTREMELY High Quality pics when you're in a thread, FLTCHRR!

one thing I noticed is that the Arcade in Sydney had wires EVERYWHERE infront of the TTT2 cabs.. was it that way all over the arcade?

This thread reminds me I gotta spruce up my Photobucket account for my website. I just have stuff everywhere and I haven't been doing bulk uploads since I just post a random photo to Tumblr or Instagram. While I have a lot of pictures of the places I visit they don't hold a candle to the amazing Japanese arcades. I love seeing photos from arcades around the world since America seems to just want nothing but ticket games.

It's the same things here. There is no more arcade in the traditional sense with fighting games and shmups. All there is now is ticket games, shooting games like big buck hunter and the odd driving game. Anything stick and button, forget it.

I heard it had closed, but I thought it was set to reopen. Is the other Galaxy World in the mall above Paddy's Market still open? I think I have pictures from that one around somewhere too...

I havent been into town for a while but from what i understand the one in haymarket reopened as "city amusements" which is basically one of those laser tag places. They still have some games but not many. All the Galaxy world stuff got auctioned off.

Depressed to hear about this place closing - I'm glad I got to visit before it did.

No, you're right - that place is always dark. I had to wrangle some stools and build a make-shift tripod for those pictures :D

Fltch, thx for the pics of the Kaikan, they look great. Was thinking about that place the other day when I read an article about the closing, truly heartbreaking that it's gone now.
