Odd Metal Slug 3 question

First, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I've always wondered how many possible combinations of pathways can be taken from start to finish in Metal Slug 3 when you take into account every single branch. Mission 1 has 3 possible paths, mission 2 has 2 paths, mission 5 only has 1, but I'm not entirely sure about missions 3 and 4. I know of at least 3 paths in mission 3 and at least 4 paths in mission 4.

Anyone ever figured up a grand total of path combinations in all missions?

so? 1=3 options, 2 has 2, 3 has 3, 4 has 4, and 5 is a straight shot?
or do some of those in single levels combinate too?

now that the question is posted more clearly does someone who knows if they combinate or whatever also posses the maths ability to come up with the answer? could You also explain the math involved? its exponential or something right?

It is just simple Factorial

3 x (4 x 3 x 2 x 1) = 72

So there are lots of different combinations to keep us occupied.
