Doom had its day...20 plus years ago.The fucking idea that at a base level you champion Sengoku 1 but disregard Doom 2 is staggeringly fucked.
If you still enjoy it, great. You do you, then.

Yeah when I bought Doom 1&2 on Steam for $10, I saw Doom 3 was going for $4.... Yeah not worth it, no way I would play it for more than 20 minutes before just shutting it off. I could see trying Quake IV again, but I doubt I'd play it much longer.20 years ago was Doom 3.
And to celebrate its 20th anniversary, id decided to completely ignore it and release Doom I and II again. Because people like those games.
Oh don't get me wrong, I liked Doom 3 when it was released. I just doubt I would now. I could definitely see me enjoying Heretic and Hexen again as well. Those were pretty fun, same with Rise of the Triad.I even prefer Heretic/Hexen (and the sequels) over Doom 3.
Doom 3 was a rad tech demo though. Applying lighting to textures was brilliant.
Doom 64 is the real Doom 3.
Pro tip: there's a brightness slider in the game optionsAh yes. That overly dark and blurry mess. Good times!
hey man leave sengoku out of thisThe fucking idea that at a base level you champion Sengoku 1 but disregard Doom 2 is staggeringly fucked.
I also enjoyed Doom 3 at the time. Haven’t played it since. In terms of survival horror/Event Horizon type of feel a game like Dead Space a few years later was more successful.
I appreciate they tried something different but I’m glad they later really succeeded with Doom 2016 and Eternal.
I had the doom 3 bfg edition for ps3, and even in that short time gap the game already felt terribly dated and slow paced.True. It felt like a "one play through" type of game. Which makes sense given the overall landscape. Not something you go back to over and over.
That means No Rest for the Living, Sigil, Sigil 2, and Legacy of Rust should all be entirely new to you. Be sure to check those out when you get to them. All are fantastic, all but Sigil 2 are included in the base package of the new release (and you can find Sigil 2 in the mod browser quite easily for free).Man, I haven't put too much time into Doom 1 or 2 since the early 2000s or so I think. Holy shit I forgot how fun these games are, and how many of the levels I remember.... and don't remember. These games are truly classics
Will do. Just going to run through in order. Not even through the second episode of Doom 1, probably finish that and more tonightThat means No Rest for the Living, Sigil, Sigil 2, and Legacy of Rust should all be entirely new to you. The order on the menu is the release order but not the story or gameplay progression order, so here is the way that makes the most sense from a gameplay perspectiveWill do. Just going to run through in order. Not even through the second episode of Doom 1, probably finish that and more tonight
I have giant Doom tattoos on my left arm for a reason.![]()
