Hi, I have a candy cab set up with 7 buttons, so it plays cps2 fine. Im getting a 2 slot and need to know if it will work without changing all the jamma harness about.
I will take some pics soon, there are a few loose wires as well and im not sure what their for, one long pink one, and 3 short ones.
Im new to this so any help would be great.
Thanks.

You cant make out the jamma harness very well so here is how it looks,
I hope this makes sense.

Its moved all my type to the left, just to clarify, the four pins at both ends are soldered together, as are the two pins with the thick yellow wire.

There are three loose wires with the speakers. black green and grey, + and - are connected between the two speakers.

Hope you can help.

Yhankyou.

Most likely you are going to have to change a few wires around(to MVS) or make up some sort switch..if your Jamma set-up is currently wired up for Mono as the 2 Slot is Stereo ...(may have been easier just to get a 1 slot if you want to stay with the CPSII set-up.

The main thing you are going to have to do is compare Pinouts between your Harness and an MVS "Stereo" Pinout.
If you can take picks of your set-up/harness that may help..

neo-geo and jamma have a slightly different pinout... if you simply swap out a jamma for a neo-geo (or vice-versa) you will need to wire up a test switch to wire "m", and the payer controls might not be exactly the correct layout... button 1,2,3 should be correct, but if you are using a cps-2, it probably has the kick harness installed, which means that the lower three buttons wouldn't function (although they are not used in neo-geo) The fourth button could, or could, not be hooked up. If not, you'll have to hook it up to button 4. One of your spare wires could be a button 5, but since you have the cps-2, theres no extra button for it... If you want the pinouts, go to these links... for the jamma pinout - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/newjam.html
and for the neo-geo pinout - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/mvsjam.html

if you have a candy unit you do not have to do much. OPen the top back ot the cabnet whre the speakers are. There will be either 4 or 5 wires. IF you have a negative plug to one and a postive conect to another one, with a wire connecting the two speakers together its wired fo mono. All you have to do is take off the wire that is connect the two speakers together. Then there should be one postive wire and one negative wire that wernt being used. just plug one on one end and one on the other end. so you should have one negative and one postive connected on both speakers. now some capcom games will work int the neo stero mode. so if you see all four wires already connected you are good to go to play the neo mvs. pm me if ya got any question. People ALWAYS TRY TO MKE THIS A BIG DEAL AND IT IS SIMPLE. PM ME FO ANY MORE QUESTIONS. i got about 25 of those units so i know what im talking about yo

The two white wires soldered to pin 10 (counting from the left in that pic) of both sides of the harness go to + and - of one speaker and from there to + and - of the other speaker (using the same colour for both wires wasn't a great idea, btw). This means that the speakers in this pic are wired in parallel, as shown here

At this point it would be important to know the impedence of the speakers. This is usually written somewhere on the speakers themselves (impedence is measured in ohms, like resistance, and the symbol used for ohm is the Greek letter omega). If this info is not written anywhere you could measure the resistance between + and - of the speaker (if you have a multimeter, that is).

Anyway, the best thing would be to have a 4PDT switch installed in the cab and 4 ohm speakers:

Not related to the speaker issue but important:

The jamma connector in your cab does not seem to be keyed on pin 7: be careful not to plug it in the wrong way...

If you have a universe bios in your MVS there is no need to rewire a test button on the jamma harness, as you can get into the bios test menu via a button combination on the controls.

Hi all, Got my mvs and been trying it out, As it was set up the sound was very strange, I have 6-ohm speakers, and 5 wires, two white going to one then parallel over to the other, and 3 loose green black and grey, of which only the green seems to have resistants, How should I wire up my cab for the mvs?
I really apreciate all the help.

Ok so Ive wired my mvs sound up as shown in the mvs 2 slot manual, It sounds perfect through the right speaker and very quiet through the left, ive tried reversing the wires and it didn't help so im guessing there must be something wrong with my speaker?
also the extra 3 wires near my speakers seem to be one ground a coin switch and god only knows.

One other thing I have noticed is the pulsing of the screen, I assume this is normal but the annoying part is that some stages are nice and bright and you can see the highlights on your character etc, and others make the characters seem very dark.

This one looks fine,

but these two seem very dark.

hmm... that's wierd... it almost sounds as if your psu signal fluxes... but... the mvs would probably shut off if that where the case...

A bump firstly,
Ive wired up the cab with a qpdt switch which seems to work, the mvs sounds ok (other than the very quiet left speaker) and my cps2 sounds ok with the switch to either side, but when switched to mvs the fan in the cps2 goes crazy, so I wont be doing that.
Thanks mkl and all,
Now I need to order some new speakers, any ideas as to where?

And im still having problems with the colour changing on my monitor, would a cap kit help?

For the speaker, you could go to bob roberts and get a 4x4 8ohm 5watt shielded speaker for $4 + shipping - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/parts.html I have two of the unshielded ones, and with the bass boost from a cheesy subwoofer that I rigged up as a shared channel between right and left, it sounds great. If you want so better speakers, however, you may want to try mcm electronics - http://www.mcmelectronics.com/ they've got speakers ranging anywhere from 25cents to a couple hundred dollars a piece... so... take your pick. I don't know about the monitor though... does it only do it with the cps-2? Or, does it now do it with anything you plug into the cab?

Thanks for the info, I just emailed bob about a cap kit, didn't know he had speakers as well! The colour problem happens with everything mvs or cps2, its very annoying. Im thinking a cap kit could be the answer.

I doubt if bob roberts will have a kit for that monitor,
you will have to make a list of all the caps and buy them from Maplins or Farnell.
I doubt the problem is the caps anyway, that cab is less than a year old.

My advice would be to sell that cab on ebay and buy an Astro off of Tony at killercabs
