Hello sorry if this has been asked before.

I have a MS4 cart that I bought off of Yaton from Ebay a couple of years ago, and sometimes the graphics were garbled on boot up, but the once the game was being played it was fine. This was on my old 6-slot, which is long gone now, but I tried plugging it into my 4-slot this past weekend and I get a screen that says something to the likes of "these Roms are owned by SNK and copying them will result in being prosecuted to the full extent of the law." I was paraphrasing there, but when this happens the game does not do anything besides sit on this screen, and I cant credit the game up or switch to another. I am not sure if I tried this cart on another 4-slot board I had with the Uni-BIOS installed but I do know it worked on my old 6-slot.

Another question would be is there anything I can do to get the game to boot up and play, if it's a boot then oh well not much I can do about it now, but I would like to at least play the game? Will a Uni-BIOS take care of this?

Thanks,

Dennis

gonna start with the basics here:

have you tried to clean the cart contacts?

and tried the game at other slots of your system?

Like the others have said, if the carts/slots are dirty or if your backup RAM is corrupt then you'll get this message.

Corrupt backup RAM is common on MVS systems that aren't played often enough to keep the batteries charged. You should run the system at least 24 hours a month to keep the battery charged.

I have tried other slots, same issue. I will clear the backup RAM and try it again. This weekend was the first time I have turned on my MVS in awhile so that may be the issue.

Thanks for the help guys.

***Update***

Cleared the backup RAM and the cart booted right up. Thanks for the help guys.

I've had MS4 for a couple months now and I'm having the same issue first described by the OP. It usually shows a garbled intro screen when first booting up. If I start the game while it's on the garbled intro screen, the game will usually play glitchy. If I let it sit for a bit and get to the screen that says "MEGA", it usually plays fine.

I've cleaned the hell out of the boards and have tried alternate slots and combination of different games. I've even tried MS4 by itself and nothing seems to help. Cleared the RAM, still persists.

Anything else that may clear this up? It's more of any annoyance than anything else since I can usually get the game to play fine if I let it change to the next screen. The thing is this cart is clean and looks brand new. I got it in a kit and it doesn't look very used

That screen you have in your picture is the normal behavior of the cart when it is in USA mode. I also own MS4 and I experience the same side effect. Even emulation does that side effect. Mega Enterprise probably got lazy when programing the parental advisory warning screen is all. Just ignore it and wait till it gets to the "Mega" logo.

Nice, thanks for the info. At least I can stop trying to correct the issue now. And this makes one more reason for me to get a UniBios already.
