I was at a friend's house last night, and one of them sent me home with a belated birthday present called "Too Legit for the Pit." In a nutshell, it's a compilation of 90s-era rap songs done by a bunch of unknown hardcore bands.
That's intriguing enough. But when I looked up the label behind it, Radical Records, all I could find was a site updated in February 2007. Aside from that and incidental album reviews and Wikipedia entries on said albums, there isn't much history readily available to read.
That's where you might come in. What was (or is?) Radical Records like? Was it important to the scene? Was it horribly small and important, or maybe huge but only known to it's subset, like maybe Epitaph is/was to punk? Or, administratively speaking, was it the Diehard GameFAN of the hardcore music scene?
