Hi

So I am considering getting a 120-in-1 cart for my Neo, but I'm not sure if I should get it in addition to my 161 or in replacement of my 161, so I made this little game comparison:

http://1drv.ms/1ysQxiO

There is also the original thread (can't find it right now) where we posted our findings with the 161 (Garou not working, wrong sounds, not returning to menu on AES or when using memory card, etc). If you know some more things about the 120-in-1 you can post them here.

Thanks!!

IMO its all about the high dollar games you get in either or. With the 161 you get SSVS, a fixed SVC Chaos, and some other high demand games like nel driftout and such. With the 120 I believe it has TSS, NAM, and shocktroopers.

I have both. Suggest keeping both as well for reasons ggallegos1 stated.

Does anybody know if the games on the 120 also have issues? does Garou work fine? Does Aerofighters 3 work fine? are there sound issues?

btw, on your list, I believe KOF 2002 is on both the 120 and 161

I'm not sure about that. I know it's on the 161 (because I have that cart) but I have only read the game list of the 120 (got the list from excellentcom.net). That list shows "KoF 2002 classic" is that the original KoF 2002?

Thanks!

I haven't had any problems with the 120, all the games have been running without any problems. Garou works just fine, no resets unlike some of the other multicarts, but some of the winning quotes seem off. I believe I tried Aerofighters 3 and didn't notice anything. As for sound, i'm not too sure if its the cart or my system, but sometimes on the music, certain notes of songs seem to not play, for example on Twinkle Star Sprites, the intro music plays, but when it gets to a certain part of the song, like the higher notes, it doesn't play that part.

Thanks, file adjusted.

That kind of problems seem common in these multicarts. No idea why since good roms have been available for some time, but whatever. Sound does not matter to me much, but a reset in a game is bad because breaks the game payability. So does the 120 not have these reset problems? is Garou the real Garou/AF3?

Thanks!

Garou plays just like the original, but some of the winning quotes don't seem correct. I never played the original AF3 so i can't say on that. I haven't had a reset problem except when I accidently hold the start button too long

In which sense they do not seem correct? Are they corrupted or something? Remember Neo games have bad cases en Engrish, so they are probably fine just the original game has some funny quotes.

Yeah, I think its just bad engrish. As for the sound problem, I went and placed the multicart in different slots on my 4 slot MVS to see if that would fix my sound problem, and it actually did. I don't hear the sound problems anymore from TSS and other games on the cart. Don't know if it was getting interference with the other carts in the other slots or I just needed to place the cart in better.

Multi carts were meant to be the only cart in the system, and were really meant for the single slots. For best performance, they should be the only game in a multi slot setup.

I have the 120-in-1, since TSS costs a small fortune for a real cart I thought I might as well go for this one, plus I have an Omega CMVS with a virtual memory card which prevents the return to menu option from working on the 161-in-1. Most games on the 120 work fine for me but Blazing Star crashes most of the time in he middle of stage two after you blast your way through the space doors. I think if you take too long to shoot the first two enemies after coming through the doors it crashes. Each time I kills them really quickly I can progress to the stage 5 or 6 boss and then it crashes again :( I'm going to get a legit Blazing Star early next year. Garou works fine for the most part but I do get some minor graphical issues on some of the stages.

Hi

Does the 120-in-1 erase the backup memory of the board every time you play it? Also, does it return to menu even when having a memory card inserted? finaly: does it work with converters on an AES?

Thanks!!

Hasn't anyone yet come up with something similar to the Everdrive for the Neo Geo MVS/AES so roms can just be dumped onto a a flash card then played on the native hardware?

Nope, and the few known people that can do it do not seem to be interested right now

I have the 120-in-1 and, like Maverick stated, the only issues I've run into are sound-related. NAM is missing a few notes or melodies in the stage music, but I havent played TSS enough in my life to notice any difference. The games play fine, tho

Here’s some info about my MVS 161-1

This is the info I got for the game I bought for future reference..

Neo Geo MVS 161 in 1 Cartridge Horizontal Display - New
This amazing cart combines 161 of the best Neo Geo games onto a single Neo Geo cartridge. The cartridge uses a built-in OSD (On Screen Display) to first graphically navigate to the game you wish to play. Once finished playing, simply hold down Player 1 START button for 5 seconds to immediately return to the OSD game selection screen again.

Are there issues with the 138? It looks like it has all the games that are on the 120 and a few more.

The major issue with the 138-in-1 is the daughterboard. I think the cable between the cart and its sub board is not long enough for some MVS boards as it has to be connected to the jamma edge.
