OK, I got tired of waiting for NCS to restock this title, so I went to my local importer and picked up a copy (For about $10 more...)

I haven't even played it yet, but the redesigned Simon and Dracula on the cover are quite good looking.

I'll post my review here soon.

Yeah, I've noticed the same phenomenon about PS original Castlevania SOTN on Ebay.
Right now I'm trying to get rid of my US games and replace with JPN version. I was on Ebay yesterday and saw 10 or so PS Castlevania auctions and most of them had price over $20....
Plus all of them say "Rare...", "it's original, not greatest hits"...and so on. I just don't get it. That means I can sell my copy for over $30 I think......
Weird.....

Silent, would you sell that copy of Castlevania on PSX to me? I had the original version on PSX untill it fell on the floor (don't ask) and broke in three. I had to replace it with the Greatest hits version, which I dont feel comfortable owning. If you want to sell it to me, I would be very happy.

Hey Rade, my local KB Toys still has original edition copies of CastleVania: SOTN for sale. Send me a message if interested.

My copy of Castlevania for Saturn finally came in. I am very pleased with it. While it is true that it does not look as good as the PSX version, all the gameplay is present and accounted for.

I have only played with Mario Renard so far but it is really cool being able to get do do and see new things in a game I love so much.

The thing came in EXCELLENT condition. For 44 dollars too! Not bad!

What do you guys think about the Saturn Drac X?

Oh yeah, the tone of the voice actors is much better. Is the guy who plays Death, the same guy in the Duo one?

My favorites are Castlevania Chronicles, Genesis Bloodlines and SNES Super IV.

Nope, no tacky bright green booklets. I am going by the store today, so will check and make sure they still have some. They are either $19.99 or $24.99. KB Toys generally runs their prices $5.00 higher than other retailers, but they sometimes follow MSRP on older stuff.

Got two games today via mail: Castlevania Chronicle and Fist of the North Star.

Castlevania has great music but I don't like the game play. It's indeed hard in the original mode. Kinda disappointed......I give 85/100.

FOTNS is quite fun......graphic is alright but gameplay is fun. I'll give 86/100

The reason why I bought Castlevania chronicle is just for the cover art (LOL).....
that's true.

Super Castlevania IV was my first castlevania game I played and I have less interest into older titles.

FOTNS is quite fun. You can do the ultimate killing move by press combination of buttons "yayayayayyayayaya.....You are dead already..."

Well, I played through Chronicles...

I give it: (on a scale of 1-10)

Graphics: 6
Really old-school, not quite up to the level of part 4 on the SNES.

Gameplay: 8
Good, but old-shool game design allows you an extremely limited range of movement and attacks.

Music: 9
There are some really cool tunes here. I thing that Konami put more effort into sound than anything else.

Review: Castlevana Chronicles is as old-school as it gets. When I first started playing, I was a little let down by the lack of animation in the redrawn Simon Belmont, but I quickly got over it and tried to appreciate the game for what it is.
The levels at the beginning of the game are pretty weak, but they get stronger as the game goes on. The Death/Grim Reaper level is COOL, with dismembered bodies, Frankenstein chasing you and haunted wall mounted paintings.
Most of the bosses are somewhat lame when compared to many of the later games, especially C:SOTN. But Death and Dracula are very cool.

Overall, this game is probably only for Castlevania fans(like most of us)...
The gameplay is much more like the NES titles than anything from SNES or Playstation/Saturn, so if you enjoy going back to the originals, then you will like this game.

One final thing: The cover for this game is probably my favorite of the whole series... I always though Simon looked like some kind of lame Rastan/Conan type before, now he looks like a total badass!

If Konami made a sequel to Symphony of the night, with the redesigned Simon in lead again... oooh, think of the possibilities.

Agree............
First couple levels aren't that hard....bosses are easy to defeat.

I'll play more to enjoy this old school castlevania coz I've never played NES versions (1-3) before.

I'll try to love it

I liked the Saturn version. While not as good as the PS one, I enjoyed the added music, running shoes, and the cursed prison. Didn't realy like the two other new areas, and Maria Seems so weak after playing her in the first one.

I also really like the fact that you can play as Richter in his new outfit! ust hold up and press start when selecting him!

Still thought, I prefer the PS version, but it is worth getting for sure! On my Scale: 8/10.
