Just beat Castlevania Chronicle. Awesome oldschool play but I shouldn't have expected more of an ending. It IS Castlevania, after all .

Got my GBA and COTM today...awesome game, even if GBA's lighting sucks hard. Nintendo's going to come back strong if GBA and Gamecube have games as good as COTM coming out on a regular basis.

I, as well received my copy of Castlevania Chronicles recently and afterplaying it all day and beating it on arranged mode, I came away very impressed.

Someone said that the full motion video intro and outros were shit. Well, I agree, but at least they are cooler than Drac X's on Saturn and PSX.

This truly is a remake of the original Castlevania, though. If you like your Castlevania old school, you NEED to get this game. It will be very worth it.

The best Castlevania music would have to belong to Super Castlevania IV. Not only did it have new music, but it also included the old stuff. A great mix and it all sounded excellent.

But when you think about it, I think all the Castlevanias had great soundtracks.

Second favourite would have to be Nocturne's.

Here is my list of top five:

1. Castlevania IV
2. Nocturne
3. Original
4. Rondo of Blood
5. and Castlevania 3

Genesis Bloodlines get'a an honourable mention for the theme for the Atlantis level. Dracula X on SNES gets a mention too, because it duplicated the music from the Duo game's CD music very well.

One more thing! My favourite theme from the entire series is 'Simon's Theme'.

Next?

Being a HUGE Castlevania fan, I am very pleased to announce that I just acquired my 17th unique game in the series: the Haunted Castle JAMMA PCB from 1988! It looks its age, and it is hard as hell, but at least it is mine.

I think my fave is SOTN
I also like Dracula X for SNES
whats the difference between that one an the one on TurboDuo?
awkwardly enough Dracula X for SNES is almost the same game as Castlevania : Vampire's Kiss.
is TurboDuo/Rondo of Blood emulated?

I totally understand where your coming from, but its obvious of course almost everyone wants the original stuff, but i just wanna play the Turbo Duo version of Dracula X. I doubt i'll be able to find it, much less afford it right now. I'd probably be looking at 300-400 just to play one game, which i doubt can be that good. I'm not really into collecting games, just playing them.

SOTN is a new style of castlevania, so does G A version. Personally I like old ones better.

I have SotN, I thought it was great. The graphics, sound, and presentation definitely rock. Almost everyone seems to think it's the best Castlevania game, but I'm not so sure, because the game is WAY too easy! It's cool that you can carry hundreds of items and all, but it makes the game way too easy.
If you're about to die, just use an elixir. No fun. Like the E-tanks from Megaman. No challenge.

What happened to the tough as nails bosses from Castlevania I and III (a few, not all)?

Dracula has only ONE form at the end. What the HELL was Konami thinking?!

Honorable mention goes to all three GB Castlevania titles (yes, even Legends, which has some attractive manual artwork by the by and a FEMALE Belmont! Yes!), which are bitch-ass hard but a lot of fun, too .

By itself Drac X SNES is a good Castlevania game, but next to Rondo it is a weak, fading shadow. Since I played Drac X SNES before playing Rondo Of Blood I didn't have the TurboDuo bias factor so I was able to judge it a bit more objectively.

Lastly, I liked the N64 games but admit that they're probably near the bottom of the ladder for most people.

I think CV Adventure II is a great game. I have all 3 CV GB games, but I haven't playe dLEgneds much yet. I haven't finished Adventure I either, to me it's very difficult and well... dull.

I was reading over at the Castlevania Dungeon of an Idea\theory. An idea that may make some of you question everything that is existance:

Alucard may be the father of all Belmonts after Sonja. Just look at the ending to Castlevania Legends, and you will see.
