Scream itself has a more serious storyline but thematically it's a lampoon of the slasher genre.

It's also a fantastic movie.

2 is pretty good, 3 and 4 I could take or leave.

That someone would put Scary Movie on a list that included Army of Darkness and American Psycho is itself funny and horrifying.

Scary movie qualifies neither as scary nor a movie.

SHAUN of the Dead

Good list, Shaun of the Dead happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time (maybe on a top 20 list, not top 5)

Just thought of one that I loved and watched a few times: John Dies at the End

Seriously underrated and my guess is it'll be more appreciated in the future (I hope). It should have spawned a sequel or two. Watch it on Netflix or Hulu or rent it at your local Blockbuster, it's worth it. I promise this.

edit: It's free on Vudu

That bit in Shaun of the Dead is brilliant where his mate chops off a zombies head with a New Order 12" and he gets indignant "Hey, that was a first press!"

Brain Damage
Return of the Living Dead
Bubba Ho-Tep
Zombeavers

+1 for Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Return of the Living Dead, Dead Alive/Braindead, and Night of the Creeps.

I'd also suggest:

Fright Night (1985)
An American Werewolf in London
What We Do in the Shadows
Slither
Tremors
Trick 'r Treat
Happy Death Day
They Live

True dat. It's really strange, very unique, and very entertaining.

Return of the Living Dead, as mentioned, is one of the first really good examples of the genre. Linnea Quigley spends a whole lot of it naked, too.

I'd add Sleepaway Camp and Sleepaway Camp 2. The original takes itself sort of seriously (but not at the ending), whereas the sequel clearly doesn't.

edit: You Might Be the Killer stars Fran Kranz and Alyson Hannigan and starts mostly as comedy and then leans into proper horror tropes more toward the end, it's not amazing but it's worth a look.

Gotta go with Dead Alive/Braindead. Sleepaway Camp is more wtf with some things. LoL @ the end of that movie though.

Also casting my vote for Dead Alive. It’s ridiculous, the gore is so over-the-top, you can’t help but laugh. It has a memorable cast of characters too.

There is always Club Dread. Though it is more of a horror parody than a fun genre movie.

You can also make the case that "Get Out" is a very dark comedy.
