The "lamborghini shooter" mentioned earlier is Turbo Force by Video System (creators of the Aero Fighters series). It's supported by MAME...

Here is my score. The first time I beat it on one credit (using 4 lives). Single player, not multiplayter. Arcade mode.

2,256,833,054,503,440

You know if you beat it without continuing, you get the planes from Giga Wing 1. Reallly cool. Limi has an awesome plane, very fast too

Somehow I'd missed this thread! I'm a shooter fan of all kinds. I have to agree with Laserblast on the list of PCE/TG-16 shooters. Great stuff.

I haven't really gotten into the DC shooters, though I bought them. I want to support the genre, and I'd like to enjoy them. Somehow, they just don't click for me. They're certainly better than nothing, but it seems that they don't agree with my taste.

Give me some Saturn shooters any day.

Well, I finally took the time to read this thread since I'm home.

While I was in Japan I popped a 100 Yen coin into this one machine, and instantly had a new favourite shooter. What's this? ProGear no Arashi. Seems it was only released on Japanese CPS2 boards, and who knows whether or not on a home system, but it's a side-scrolling shooter from Heaven. If you want a real non-stop challenge, play this game! The enemies literally shower you with uncountable amounts of bullets, and my God, just wait till you see the level 2 boss.... at one point, almost the entire screen was literally covered in bullets.. and I even managed to out-fly them (did use one bomb though). The game just has the maddest shooter action I've ever experienced.

Since probably very few of you have ever seen this, I'll explain how it works. You choose one out of three planes, and one out of three companions (who join you, or rather their firepower does, with enough power-ups) and you have the standard bombs which make you temporarily invincible. Simple system, but constructed with mastery.

There was too much noise from all the other machines, esp. Guiter Freaks 4th mix where someone kept getting 130 something hit combos, to hear the music very well, so I can't comment on it.

Fun factor: Through the roof and into space! This is a game more than worth hunting down if you ask me. Would have spent all my money on it but there was a group of us so we played mostly multi-player games.

The shooter I most grew up with was the Nintendo incarnation of 1943, followed closely by Life Force, and Commando if that counts.

I've played some Macross game on the SFC, I think Scrambled Valkyrie Mission (from 1992) and it's amazing!

I love mostly all the Neo shooters, and today I'm going to go pick up ASO 2. One thing about that game, apart from it rocking, is mission 3. Whenever I get there, it makes me so woozy, the screen shifting from left to right, left to right, back and forth, one side to the other.... makes me dizzy and want to get off the ship! Aero Fighters 2 was always a huge one with me, nowadays in part due to consistently failing to beat my brother's 12/14 missions in 1 credit feat. Strikers 1945 + is that series's entry I have most played. I love it, a whole lot, but it gets boring sometimes playing it on level-8. Prehistoric Isle 2 I found to be good fun myself, why I'm not really sure. Just something different.

Raiden is something nobody can forget, or be without. Even these days I can go to this one arcade probably any day of the week and I see people all trying to beat the game on one credit, getting really far with huge scores, but never quite making it. The classics last!

Well, that's enough for now. Happy to see this thread is receiving continued attention.

Good night.

It's... well.... easy. My second time ever playing I reached the last boss on one credit. It wasn't too long after that I was finishing the game on one life.

It's decent, but it's just too short and too easy. You'd have no problem with it either.

Just beat SD Gundam Neo Battling. Good shooter for anyone who's in Japan. Takes over an hour to play through and the gameplay is simple, yet challenging. A+

You beat Raiden 2 with no continues?

That game is nigh impossible, if it is set to Colonel(#3, default) or General(#4). I can get close to the end in R1 on 1 credit with the default level.

Ducky- I don't want to compare high scores for GW2, cause I don't like that game at all.
Sorry. In general, I am into older shooters, and IMO, of the 4 main full-on shmups for DC (GW1, 2, Gunbird 2, Mars Matrix) GW2 is by far the weakest.
Shooters are my fave kind of games though.

Recent shmup aquistions:
Raiden Fighters 1
Raiden Fighters 2

Can you please elaborate on how Battle Garegga is "idiotic", as you posted on the other thread...

also, were you bashing both Kyukyoku Tiger games, or just the second one?

Dammit....how come now one answers my questions about Hyper Duel? It's a shooter right? Is it any good? It's one of those RARE Saturn games I haven't played. Almost all the other shooters I have played or owned. A little help here.....

Nah, it is easy. You just keep using your REFLECTO LAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I don't understand why Giga Wing gets all this shit from other people. GW2 has probably the best graphics I have ever seen (for a shooter) and very cool music.

My highest score in GW2 is 1,770,000,000,000,000+ with the Porscka, on Arcade mode with two starting lives and two starting bombs. I can't change the settings and I don't know the difficulty either because the arcade version is all that I've played (I have no DC).

ProGear rocks. So many damn bullets to avoid, and the boss fights kick ass too with their unique bullet attacks and all (like multiple warheads, exploding bullets, and seeking clusters).

BTW, is it possible to finish a Strikers or AeroFighters game on one credit? I mean, the amount of bullets (not GigaWing-like, but still a lot) and their fast speed, it's impossible. The best I could do was get halfway through a loop. How do you finish a Psikyo shooter on one credit?!?

Hmm... to this day I still can't beat the last bosses of either Aerofighters 2 or Aerofighters 3. I think I just suck at those games...

I'm on a huge G Darius high right now. What a game! The multiple paths... the cool capture an enemy feature, the BIG FRICKIN' MEGA LAZER. Man, G Darius is my second favorite shooter of all-time. Now if only Viper Phase 1 were available on console.... I'd be in HEAVEN.
