That is strange ain't it. The label does not look right does it.

And nice one for finding a better picture.

Rog, the Sonic Wing 3 in the link definately has a replacement name label. It's too white and clean for a rental cart :)

What is that sub board you have connected and where can I get one?

This is a Vogatek Mark IV Supergun. Really good - has mono/stereo switch so can be used for 2-slot/4-slots as well as standard JAMMA. Just been using it on my new Atomiswave motherboard and wired up for 5 buttons to.

See: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Arcade-supergun-motherboard-MK-IV-/250843686200?pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item3a6772e538

The seller Romeo has a bad reputation with delayed deliveries etc but I recently bought 2 more and got them within a week. Worth giving him a chance to deliver :)

So the newcomers to the Rental cart confirmation list...

Power Spikes II
Quest of Jong Master
Super Dodgeball
Super Sidekicks 4

Anyone got any thoughts on these...?

My only concern is when you get carts like the Puzzle de Pon, that don't have the correct label on it.

This is the Japanese label...

And this is the new cart picture provided... so how valid are other carts?

Puzzle de Pon! is a weird one. Mine's original to and has original English label on the rental cart. Maybe they kept it English like Puzzle Bobble? Puzzle de Pon! was licensed by Taito after all with Visco making the game

Imo the previous owner of SDB did a swap and replaced the label. As far as I know there isn't a Japanese version of this game, and the western label has a serial number (which is missing on the pic).

IMO, Super Dodge Ball shouldn't be added until we find proof of an existing rental WITH JAP label ; like what happened with Sonic Wings 3. From what we can gather all authentic rentals have JAP labels.

According to this site, these are the mvs titles that never had a release in Japan:

http://www.netpacket.it/neo/neomasterlist.htm

Futsal ~5 on 5 Mini Soccer~
Tecmo World Soccer 96
Kunio no Nekketsu Toukyuu [DodgeBall] Densetsu
Puzzle de Pon! R
Gapporin
Puzzle Bobble 2
Musashi Ganryuki
Bang Bead

I'd be skeptical of any of them that were found as rental carts.

This info is a strange one to confirm. The Price Guide on here has a listing for all the carts in both region except Futsal and Bang Bead.
So does Jap-Sai... http://www.jap-sai.com/Games/SNK/SNK_Neo_Geo.htm

Which is what I have detailed on my site... http://www.neogeosoft.com/?section=mvs&filter=eng_only

But the Neo-Geo Museum does not list them... http://neogeomuseum.snkplaymore.co.jp/english/catalogue/index.php

After a short search, it appears that info is definitely wrong everywhere.

Here is a Japanese Super Dodgeball, that nobody has listed as existing...

http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g99278796
codename_009-img600x450-1309758274uh5uzm74968.jpg

And another, Bang Bead... this time an SNKG cart that may have to get added to the list...

http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w63101628
codename_009-img600x450-1306831309hkgb1m62516.jpg

And it is odd that as all of these games were only released on MVS, how there are titles on that 'Master List' in Japanese... Dodgeball, Gapporin and Musashi Ganryuki.

I am still very unsure about this list, and some keep popping up all of the time.. anyone else got anything else to add.

Yeah you are right...

Just found this Ghostlop...

http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n94933907
codename_009-img600x450-13063244773ci33s51344.jpg

And this Ironclad...

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f105713065
codename_009-img600x450-1309074613hvq0kt22313.jpg

I also just t translated the guys description...

MVSロムカートリッジです。
インストや取説はありません。
別タイトル基板からの変更です。
動作確認済みです。
古い電子機器につきノークレームノーリターンでお願いします。

The ROM cartridge MVS.
No installation or instruction manual.
The change of title from another board.
Been tested.
Thank you with no claim no return per old electronics.

It is kind of worrying though that most of these sac carts in Japan seem to be using the SNKG shells.
It does make the identification of legit carts even more difficult.

Uh, why are people still debating which games have had a Japanese release or not?
SNK published a list of all Japanese MVS games quite a while ago at : http://neogeomuseum.snkplaymore.co.jp/catalogue/index.php

Neither Super Dodgeball or Pleasure Goal was released for MVS (they are not present in the list).
Japanese titles for games you might want to look up are available here: http://www.neogeosoft.com/

The Japanese Super Dodgeball / Pleasure Goal carts are bootlegs, just like the Ironclad / Ghostlop carts posted above.

Regarding the quoute above "And it is odd that as all of these games were only released on MVS, how there are titles on that 'Master List' in Japanese... Dodgeball, Gapporin and Musashi Ganryuki."

This is due to these games being release for AES or Neogeo CD (Futsal was released for Neogeo CD but not MVS in Japan for an example).

This thread was referring the Japanese rental cart releases (milky white carts). Not all Japanese MVS carts had a rental release

I don't know if anyone cares but there is a WORLD-HEROES 2 JET rental cart on ebay atm. $14.00 (Buy it now) with $9.90 shipping for the Rental cart. Doesn't seem like a bad price, I just don't like the game much, but if anyone else wants/needs it, then it seems to be a great price.

I checked out the side and it does indeed have the SNKG marking on the cartridge. If anyone here buys it, post and let us know :)
