TV Results: Week of 7-14-14

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to list of TV listings reports).

Note that WWE RAW results have already been posted.

WWE Main Event: 7-15-14

1 -- CAMERON vs. EMMA

Cameron eyeballed Naomi at ringside prior to locking up with Emma and taunting her. Cameron dominated early on, then took time to taunt Naomi at ringside. Cameron then returned to the ring, where Emma rolled her up for a surprise three count. Post-match, Cameron angrily attacked Emma until Naomi charged the ring to make the save.

WINNER: Emma at 2:38.

2 -- BIG E. & KOFI KINGSTON vs. RYBACK & CURTIS AXEL

The first half of the match built to a big man vs. big man meeting between Big E. and Ryback. Kofi then got the spotlight taking out the heels on the outside heading to break.

Back from break, Ryback and Axel took control of Big E. and began exchanging tags wearing down the former IC champion. It took Big E. a while to finally get that tag to Kofi, who flew into the ring with a chop to Axel's head. More high-flying, then a Boom Drop. Kofi wanted a top-rope move, and he connected with a cross-body splash for a two count when Ryback broke up the pin. Big E. then smashed Ryback, Kofi hit Axel with Trouble in Paradise, and Kofi made the cover for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Big E. & Kingston at 11:08.

3 -- U.S. champion SHEAMUS vs. THE MIZ -- non-title match

Sheamus sent Miz scurrying to the corner early on, forcing Miz to re-think returning to WWE from Hollywood. Miz left the ring moments later, then caught Sheamus on the way back into the ring. But, Miz missed a top-rope move and the match found its way to the floor. On the outside, Sheamus caught Miz running around ringside. But, Miz turned the tables and Sheamus nearly got counted out.

Back in the ring, Miz sat down on a mathold to try to wear down the IC champion. Sheamus started to make a comeback, causing Miz to lose focus. Miz then covered up his face when he sensed Sheamus warming up for a Brogue Kick, leaving himself open for Sheamus to roll him up from behind for a three count and the win. Afterward, Sheamus hit the ringside area to pose with his U.S. Title belt and the IC Title belt up for grabs in the battle royal at Battleground.

WINNER: Sheamus at 7:10.

TNA Impact Wrestling: 7-17-14

1 -- BULLY RAY & TOMMY DREAMER vs. RHINO & ETHAN CARTER III

The match was joined in-progress with Tenay and Taz talking about ECW - the brand owned by WWE. Rockstar Spud suddenly emerged ringside to distract Dreamer, allowing Carter to cut off Dreamer from behind. Bully chased Spud around ringside, then Rhino and Carter isolated Dreamer. Carter lost focus when the crowd broke into a "You Can't Wrestle" chant, allowing Dreamer to tag in Bully. Chaos, then Dreamer got his hands on Spud and his bright orange suit. Dreamer lost focus, though, and Carter pulled Dreamer to the ground, got his shoulders to the mat, and scored a roll-up pin for the win. Post-match, Bully sold being stunned that he just lost in his home market.

WINNERS: ECIII & Rhino at 7:15.

2 -- AUSTIN ARIES X DIVISION TITLE GAUNTLET

The crowd chanted "ROH" in the opening seconds to keep the theme going of referencing other promotions. After some early back and forth, Christy Hemme counted down to ten to bring out Manik. It's 1:30 intervals for this match. Davey Richards was out next to join his Wolves tag partner, Edwards, working together on Manik and Aries. Tenay brought up ECW again, then D.J. Zema was introduced next sporting a wild, colorful hair-do. Manik tried a huracanrana on D.J. Zema, but he eliminated Zema and himself over the top rope in the process. Aries, Eddie, and Davey were still alive heading to break.

Back from break, Crazzy Steve and Manik were now in the match. The next countdown expired to bring out the final entrant, Sanada. Sanada knocked down everyone, then Crazzy and Tigre Uno sort of ran around each other. Crazzy pulled out silly string, strung Tigre, and hip-tossed him over the top rope to the floor for an elimination. Eddie then took care of Steve by knocking him off the apron to the floor.

The Final Four was Eddie, Davey, Aries, and Sanada, who quickly eliminated Eddie, and then Davey in short order. It was down to Aries and Sanada. Christy Hemme announced that this will now be contested as a one-fall match. Aries knocked Sanada to the floor, then smashed him with a hyper-speed suicide dive that sent Sanada into the guardrail. Back in the ring, Aries slapped on the Last Chancery submission, but Sanada lunged toward the bottom rope for a break.

Aries tried to follow with a suplex attempt, but Sanada blocked. And a second time. Sanada rocked Aries with right hands from the ring apron, then he nailed him with an overhand chop to the head. Sanada followed with a bridge pin for a close two count. He then pointed to the corner turnbuckle, but Aries cut him off before he could land any offense. Sanada blocked Aries's follow-up attempt, then nailed a Tiger Driver suplex for another close two count on a bridge pin.

At 16:00, Sanada tried to follow up with a top-rope moonsault, but Aries moved and nailed Sanada with a discus forearm, then another to the back of the head. Aries nailed a running kick to the head in the corner, then snapped off a Brainbuster Suplex for the pin and the win. Post-match, Aries approached Sanada for a handshake, which Sanada accepted after thinking it over.

WINNER: Aries at 16:44 to retain the X Division Title. Another good exchange between Aries and Sanada once the ring cleared out. They have nice chemistry in the ring.

3 -- BOBBY ROODE & ERIC YOUNG vs. MVP & KENNY KING

King started things off to keep MVP on the ring apron. King finally grounded Roode and MVP thought about tagging in, but he saw Roode recover, so he bailed to the floor. MVP thought about competing when he tagged in moments later, but King tagged himself in to battle EY. MVP got involved by cheap-shotting EY from behind, giving the heels the advantage. MVP limped into some offense on Young, then tagged in King to deliver a better attack.

Roode got a tag and immediately dropped King with a spinebuster. MVP tried to attack Roode from behind, but Roode put him in a cross-face. EY jumped into the ring, chaos broke out, MVP stole a crutch and popped Roode with it, drawing a DQ.

Post-match: MVP and King used crutches to blast Young and Roode. MVP limped toward King, then raised his arm in mock victory as the faces sold on the mat.

WINNERS: Young & Roode via DQ at 6:20.

4 -- MADISON RAYNE vs. BRITTANY -- No DQ match

The match started with an angry Rayne going after Brittany, who tried to fend off Rayne to slow her down. Brittany eventually used Rayne's over-aggressiveness against her to take control of the match.

The match spilled to the outside, where Britt maintained control and sold being a bit looney. Back in the ring, Brittany scored close nearfalls, making her even crazier that she couldn't put away Rayne. Rayne then came back with a sit-out slam for the pin and the win. Post-match, Rayne sold relief getting the win over the crazed Brittany.

WINNER: Rayne at 6:15. Fine Knockouts match; it came across like a decisive end to the feud, but Brittany's character probably won't go away that easily.

5 -- TNA World Hvt. champion BOBBY LASHLEY vs. JEFF HARDY -- TNA World Title match

Hardy used his speed to rock Lashley early on, then the match moved to the floor. On the outside, Lashley emphatically bounced Hardy shoulder-first across the ring steps, putting Hardy on the defensive heading to commercial.

Back from break, Lashley was still in control of the match. Lashley slowed the pace, but Hardy came back with a running strike to the face. Hardy mounted a comeback, including a top-rope leg smash, then nailed two Twists of Fate. Hardy removed his shirt, looked to the back, the camera pulled back to tease a run-in, Hardy climbed to the top rope, and he fell on Lashley with a Swanton Bomb. Hardy needed a second to regroup before covering the champ for a two count.

Lashley rolled to the floor, where Hardy bounced Lashley head-first off the ring steps. Hardy climbed to the top rope again, then tried a Swanton onto Lashley, but Lashley moved and Hardy crashed hard into the ring steps. A big thud. Back in the ring, Lashley capitalized with a running spear. Lashley covered for the three count and the win.

WINNER: Lashley at 12:51 to retain the TNA Title. Solid main event. Lashley isn't very fluid in the ring, but Hardy worked well with Lashley now that he's back to being Jeff Hardy and not crazy, out-of-control Willow. It was refreshing to see a clean finish in a TNA Title match, but Hardy wasn't protected as much as you would think in his first singles match since dropping the Willow act. It's apparent the goal is to build up Lashley as a huge deal, but he has yet to show difference-making ability to justify the investment. (**1/4)

WWE Superstars: 7-17-14

1 - NAOMI vs. ROSA MENDES

Mendes immediately backs Naomi up, but Naomi boots her, then gets tough. Mendes takes a breather, but she Naomi still has the edge when she returns. Naomi wants a roundhouse from the apron, but Mendes blocks it, shoves Naomi to the ringside mats, then hits the weakest stomps in history. Mendes with a suplex for two. Naomi shows off her athleticism, then whiffs a split-legged moonsault. Mendes slides into a cover for a nearfall. Naomi holds Mendes in a reverse DDT position and drives her to the mat with a big forearm for the win.

WINNER: Naomi in 5:02. Wow, a few years out of the ring did not improve Rosa Mendes much.

2 - R-TRUTH (w/Xavier Woods) vs. RYBACK (w/Curtis Axel)

Ryback with an early edge, but R-Truth surprises him and he takes a bit of time to recover. Ryback with some mat wrestling. Ryback blocks a hiptoss then hits one of his own, but misses a leg drop.

R-Truth is still controlling Ryback, but a telegraphed body drop lets Ryback turn it around. Ryback wants a move from the second rope, but R-Truth gets his boots up. Ryback spears the corner, letting R-Truth go on his usual offense. Scissors kick to the back of the head but Ryback kicks out. Ryback with a top-rope splash, but R-Truth moves. R-Truth runs into a spinebuster. Ryback warms up the meathook clothesline and hits it, then calls for Shell Shock, gets it for the win.

WINNER: Ryback in 10:01. Pretty good match; Ryback did some nice work here.

TV Results: Week of 7-14-14 (part 2)

WWE NXT: 7-17-14

1 - ENZO AMORE & COLIN CASSADY vs. THE VAUDEVILLAINS (AIDEN ENGLISH & SIMON GOTCH)

Amore and English start. Amore looks absolutely insane with his hair and outfit. English sings as he works a wristlock, but Amore reverses it, then English reverses it. Surprise drop toehold puts English on the mat, but a back elbow in the corner gives English some room. Cassady tags in and wrecks English with forearms and knees. English escapes a slam and tags in Gotch who runs into a knee. Cassady preps the S-A-W-F-T Elbow, but the Legionnaires's music hits to provide a distraction, and Gotch wins on a schoolboy and a handful of tights.

WINNERS: The Vaudevillains in 2:25. I liked what little there was of this match, and I hope to see it in its entirety soon.

2 - XAVIER WOODS vs. C.J. PARKER

Woods forces Parker into the corner, and he looks rather miffed. They tussle mid-ring. Woods gets the upperhand.

Parker unloads on Woods as the announcers continue to argue about Parker. Woods ducks a punch and gets an edge on Parker. Kick from the apron, then a DDT but Parker kicks out at two. Parker ducks a cross-body, Woods ducks a heel kick, then Parker sits on a roll-up attempt for the win.

WINNER: C.J. Parker in 4:40. Not a bad match at all. The ending was a touch botched, though, as Parker was supposed to be grabbing the ropes but he couldn't reach them.

3 - ALEXA BLISS vs. SASHA BANKS

Bliss tries a quick roll-up, but Banks escapes, then a small package for two. Dropkick from Banks puts The Boss in charge. Telegraphs body drop and Bliss tries a Sunset Flip for two. Banks stretches Bliss across the ropes in the corner then knees her in the middle. Bliss elbows out of a hold and then escapes from the corner. Codebreaker into a chinlock from Banks and Bliss taps.

WINNER: Sasha Banks via submission in 2:51. This match was short and had me wanting to see a lot more. Bliss looked so much more confident in the ring than her previous outings, and Banks had a pile of new moves.

4 - ADAM ROSE vs. JASON JORDAN

Rose gets a bit fresh out of the corner and then jumps into Jordan's arms, then reverses a slam into a takedown. Rose rubs his rump in Jordan's face. Jordan picks Rose apart in the corner, and a beautiful suplex into a bridge from Jordan gets two. Rose with his typical offense. Bronco Buster into the Party Foul for the win.

WINNER: Adam Rose in 3:21. I'm still a Lemon, but I liked Jason Jordan here. His amateur experience was quite evident.

5 - SAMI ZAYN vs. TYSON KIDD

Kidd immediately hides in the ropes. Then he rolls out of the ring. Zayn points out the "Natty's Husband" chant from the crowd. They make contact, but Kidd slips out of the ring again. "Tyson Chicken" chant now, that's unique. Kidd is finally ready for a match, and walks right into offense from Zayn. Kidd ducks out of the ring to avoid the Helluva Kick. Kidd tries to get into the ring, Zayn slips to the apron to attack, Kidd kicks him from the apron and suplexes Zayn onto the ramp. They both look hurt headed into break.

Kidd in control mid-ring. Kidd walks all over Zayn in the corner. Tree of Woe and Zayn takes knees then a basement dropkick to the chin. Zayn fights to his feet then dumps Zayn outside. Zayn to the top and he hits a big cross-body for two. Guillotine leg drop to the back of Zayn's head through the ropes. Huge suplex from Kidd. Kidd to the top, Zayn gets knees up on an elbow drop and hits the Blue Thunderbomb for a nearfall. Top rope blockbuster from Kidd, but Zayn kicks out.

Kidd locks in the Sharpshooter mid-ring, but Zayn almost gets to the ropes, then Kidd brings him back mid-ring. Zayn toughs it out and the crowd rallies him to the ropes. Kidd to the top, but Zayn catches him, STO into the Koji Clutch and Kidd taps.

WINNER: Sami Zayn in 10:50. Really good match, very enjoyable. It will be interesting to see where Kidd goes from here.

WWE Smackdown: 7-18-14

1 – FANDANGO & THE MIZ vs. SHEAMUS & DOLPH ZIGGLER

I just noticed that they’re now billing The Miz from Hollywood, California. When Sheamus came to the ring, they showed The Miz reading his LeBron James-inspired letter on Main Event, followed by the opinions of Sheamus. Ziggler and Miz began the match. The Miz ducked Ziggler’s attack and covered up in the corner. After some back-and-forth, Miz slipped away from a right hand and tagged in Fandango. Hard short-arm clotheslined out of the corner by Sheamus for only a one-count. Fandango laid in some loud chops to Sheamus, who returned in kind. Fandango was then sent out of the ring, as was Miz. The heels recovered at ringside as they cut to break at 3:12 of the match.

Back at 7:08 of the match. Fandango brought Sheamus throat-first acrosst he apron. However, Fandango made the cardinal mistake of dancing toward the crowd on the apron, leaving an opening for Sheamus. He couldn’t take advantage, though. To show how hip the announcers are, when talking about movie stars The Miz is tougher than, Cole said he’s tougher than Don Knotts. JBL said he’s also tougher than Leonardo DiCaprio, while also mispronouncing Leo’s last name. It almost makes me think it was done on purpose, but I don’t know why you’d want to have your announcers sound so out-of-touch. Fandango and Miz traded off working over Sheamus. Fandango’s dancing finally cost him as Sheamus picked him up and delivered White Noise. Ziggler made the hot tag at 10:57. Ziggler cleaned house and got a near-fall on Miz. Another near-fall following a DDT, with Fandango breaking up the pin. Miz moved to avoid the Brogue Kick and Sheamus hit Fandango. Zig Zag to Miz for the win.

WINNERS: Sheamus and Ziggler, at 12:13. I was surprised to see Sheamus selling for the bulk of the match and for the hot-tag to go to Ziggler. Good way to set up the top contenders for the Intercontinental Title Battle Royal on Sunday.

2 – EVA MARIE vs. ALICIA FOX – NIKKI BELLA AS SPECIAL REFEREE

Nikki broke up a long collar-and-elbow tie-up when the ladies got into the ropes. Spinebuster into a pin by Eva, who was unhappy with the count by Nikki. Eva put her finger in Nikki’s forehead, then Alicia kicked Nikki in the gut. The two heel Divas worked over Nikki, with Fox giving Nikki her axe kick finisher to end the beat-down.

WINNER: No Contest (no bell), at about 1:34. With two heels being in the match, this wasn’t impossible to see coming.

3 – CHRIS JERICHO vs. LUKE HARPER

Jericho barely caught Harper with a dropkick, but Harper shoved him out of the corner. Harper stepped on Jericho’s head in the opposite corner. Jericho returned fire and Harper ended up outside the ring conferring with the other Wyatt Family members as they went to break at 1:38 of the match.

Back at 4:43 of the match with the fans trying to will Jericho out of a rest-hold. After breaking free, Jericho mounted Harper in the corner to deliver ten punches, but Harper cut him off by going after Jericho’s wounded eye. Harper tried a slam that Jericho turned into a small package for two. The front of Harper’s shirt had been torn. He continued his offense, working Jericho over outside the ring. Jericho came back with an axe-handle off the top and an enziguiri, but failed in his attempt to lock in the Walls of Jericho. Harper put Jericho on the mat with a boot to the face. Sit-out powerbomb for two at 10:34. Bray advised Harper to “finish him.” A missed charge led to a Lionsault. A Codebreaker attempt was countered. Powerbomb was countered as well and the Walls were locked in. Erick Rowan got on the apron and Jericho dropkicked him off. A missed clothesline by Harper and a roll-up by Jericho finished it.

WINNER: Jericho, at 12:13. Putting Jericho over was smart, even though the cop-out DQ finish was right there for WWE to use.

4 – ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. KOFI KINGSTON

Del Rio did an inset interview saying that the greatest International Superstar would become IC Champion. Kingston’s inset interview aired as well. Kofi vowed to become five-time IC Champ on Sunday. A fast-paced started led to Del Rio hitting an enziguiri that knocked Kofi off the apron. The announcers spent the time putting over the Intercontinental Championship. Del Rio slowed the match down and tossed Kofi outside the ring. Kofi came back with a suicide dive. The way he got back into the ring was pretty impressive. Boom Drop onto Del Rio. Del Rio rolled out of the ring on a Trouble in Paradise attempt. Kingston chased him, which was a mistake, as Del Rio superkicked him back in the ring. Cross arm-breaker turned into an SOS by Kofi, but Del Rio grabbed the bottom rope to break the pin. Kofi crotched Del Rio on the top rope. Del Rio stomped on the chest of Kofi in the corner after Kofi was hung upside-down, his legs dangling on the second rope. That was enough for the pin.

WINNER: Del Rio, at 4:42. Just a mid-card match to plug the IC Title battle royal.

5 – SUMMER RAE & LAYLA vs. A.J. LEE & PAIGE

No entrance for Summer and Layla. When A.J. came to the ring, they replayed how she ended up winning the title back a month ago. During Paige’s entrance, a graphic aired for A.J. vs. Paige on Sunday. Summer shoved A.J. aside and did some dancing. A.J. kicked her in the back after a split. A neck-breaker led to a one-count. Layla tagged in, as did Paige. Leg-sweep for a one-count by Paige. Side kick by Layla for two. Summer and Layla worked over Paige in their corner. Paige headbutted Summer to come back, and kicked Layla off the apron. A.J. tagged herself in and put Summer in the Black Widow for the tap-out win.

WINNERS: A.J. and Paige, via submission, at 2:19. Trying to figure out the heel-face dynamics in this match could give one a headache.

6 – DEAN AMBROSE vs. KANE

Ambrose had his shoulder taped and Kane went right after it. Kane slowly worked it over with various holds. Ambrose planted Kane with a tornado DDT. He dropkicked Kane in the ropes, taking the big man down to one knee. To the top went Ambrose, who came down with a dropkick. Kane tried a chokeslam but Ambrose countered and low-bridged a charging Kane out of the ring. Suicide dive by Ambrose took out Kane and himself. Kane got to his feet first and disassembled the stairs. He tried to Tombstone Ambrose on the steps, but Ambrose broke free. Rollins ran down and decked Ambrose in the back of the head with his MITB briefcase.

WINNER: Ambrose, via disqualification, at 5:15.

Cole made a big deal about Rollins not limping despite his earlier claims of injury. Ambrose attacked Rollins, but Kane grabbed Ambrose and chokeslammed him. Despite the stairs being in the ring, Kane chose instead to chokeslam Ambrose onto the mat next to the stairs. Ambrose was then set up for the curb stomp. He hit it. Rollins stood on the steps, raising the briefcase as Kane looked on and Ambrose sold the injuries.

WWE Battleground Results: 7-20-14 (pre-show)

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's report).

A -- FANDANGO vs. ADAM ROSE (w/Layla, Summer Rae, and the Rosebuds)

The match started with Fandango aggressively attacking Rose, then Layla and Fandango led a Rosebud parade around ringside. Fandango took exception, confronted them, and they slapped him. Fandango angrily ran back into the ring, where Rose lit up Fandango. Party Foul followed for a quick three count and the win.

WINNER: Rose at 1:20.

B -- NAOMI vs. CAMERON

Naomi charged the ring and took it to Cameron early on, but Cameron absorbed Naomi's attack and used a schoolgirl to pin Naomi. Fitting since Cameron was dressed in an odd schoolgirl outfit. Cameron quickly hit the entrance ramp to gloat a safe distance from Naomi, who vowed to get revenge from inside the ring.

WINNER: Cameron at 3:30. The late insider PPV betting money went to Cameron, so this was a last-minute shift in the booking. Cameron was a +320 favorite earlier in the day, then she shifted to a -420 favorite. Not a good match, as Naomi couldn't carry the inexperienced Cameron.

WWE Battleground Results: 7-20-14

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's ongoing report).

1 -- WWE tag champs THE USOS (JIMMY & JEY USO) vs. THE WYATTS (ERICK ROWAN & LUKE HARPER) -- 2/3 Falls for the WWE Tag Titles

After back-and-forth to begin with, Jimmy took a tag into the ring, but flew right into Harper's big boot. Harper pinned Uso for the pin and the first fall. The crowd sat stunned as the Usos recovered from decisively losing the first fall. JBL said it will take a miracle for the Usos to win this match.

*** FALL 1: Wyatts at 4:44 ***

The next session started with Rowan and Harper exchanging tags working on Jimmy. Jey finally got a hot tag, then rolled up Harper from behind for a quick three count. The Wyatts angrily tried to attack Uso, but the ref pulled them away to their corner before the next session started.

*** FALL 2: Usos at 8:10 ***

The Wyatts resumed their attack, now on Jey Uso. Jey broke free and tagged in Jimmy, who flew over the top rope to splash Harper. Back in the ring, Uso dumped Rowan over the top rope and flew onto him with another big splash. Uso then hopped onto the guardrail and ran across it to splash Harper.

Back in the ring, Uso hit a top-rope cross-body splash for a close two count. Uso superkicked Harper in the gut, slapped him, ducked a clothesline, and kicked Harper in the head. Uso wanted a Rikishi butt splash, and he connected. But, Harper exploded onto Uso with a corner splash in response. Harper couldn't follow up, allowing Uso to come off the top turnbuckle with a big splash to Harper for another two count.

At 13:00, Harper big-booted Uso over the top rope to the floor. Harper then contemplated flying over the top rope himself, but opted to deliver a flying suicide dive through the middle ropes. Harper tossed Uso back into the ring, then saw a vulnerable JImmy on the outside, only to take a superkick to the head. Uso and Harper proceeded to exchange very close nearfalls, buzzing the crowd.

At 15:00, Rowan tagged in, then climbed to the top turnbuckle for a flying splash, but Uso moved and Rowan ate the canvas. Uso crotched Harper, then dove to Jimmy to tag him. Jimmy came off the top with a Superfly Splash to Rowan, but he kicked out just before three. Oooohs from the crowd. Uso sold shock over Rowan kicking out of the Splash, so he climbed to the top for a second attempt, but Harper distracted him. Rowan tried to get Jimmy, but Jey tagged in. So, Rowan adjusted and superplexed both men off the top turnbuckle down below. But, Uso kicked out of a pin attempt.

At 17:30, Rowan tagged in Harper. They tried a double-team on Jimmy, but Jey broke it up from behind. Chaos, then Harper kicked Uso right in the mouth. Harper said this is done, then he went for a discus clothesline, but Uso superkicked him, only to have Harper no-sell and discus clothesline Uso. Harper had the pin, but Jey broke it up. Tag to Jey, who double-teamed Harper with superkicks. Jimmy re-tagged into the match, then the Usos balanced themselves on the top turnbuckle and delivered a double Superfly Splash to Harper. That was good for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Usos at 18:57 to retain the Tag Titles. Big pro/con list on this match - amazing third fall, but unrealistic first two falls, and did they burn out the crowd with a ridiculous number of nearfalls? An overall "pro" was a big spotlight for all four wrestlers, including Harper, who continues to be on the path to being a super-heel as a singles wrestler down the road. (***1/4)

WWE Battleground Results: 7-20-14

Backstage: Tom Phillips introduced "Mr. MITB" Seth Rollins, who was all-smiles. Rollins said tonight is a great night because he's finally going to put an end to Ambrose, a little cockroach who won't go away. Rollins vowed to squash Ambrose tonight. But, before that, he would like to address Ambrose's arrogant question from Raw of whether that's all he's got. "No, no that's not all I got," Rollins said. And when he's finished with that lunatic, his eyes will be glued to the four-way WWE Title match because Tom might be looking at the next WWE World ---

Suddenly, Dean Ambrose attacked Rollins at the interview set. Agents hit the scene to try to control Ambrose, but he destroyed a light prop in the process. Triple H suddenly showed up and told agents to haul Ambrose away. Hunter said he doesn't want to see this screwed up. Hunter checked on Rollins, who caught his breath.

Announcers: Cole asked what just happened, then asked what happens now that Ambrose has been kicked out of the building. JBL said he's to blame for not getting this match with Rollins tonight. Lawler said Hunter over-reacted, then Cole said they're transitioning to another match...

x -- SETH ROLLINS vs. DEAN AMBROSE -- Shield Grudge match

2 -- Divas champion A.J. LEE vs. PAIGE -- Divas Title match

Paige was out first, followed by A.J. Lee to defend the title in the presumed long-form match they haven't had yet. Paige dominated the match throughout, but could not score a pinfall. Paige became frustrated with her inability to take down A.J., then A.J. slapped on the Black Widow. But, Paige escaped, then scored another close nearfall. Paige lost her focus, then A.J. hit a Shining WIzard to the face for a pin and the win. A.J. skipped around the ring in victory afterward.

WINNER: A.J. at 7:13 to retain the Divas Title. Pretty good PPV match between the top two Divas on the roster. More TV time building to a re-match could result in an even stronger match. (**)

3 -- RUSEV (w/Lana) vs. JACK SWAGGER (w/Zeb Colter)

3 -- RUSEV (w/Lana) vs. JACK SWAGGER (w/Zeb Colter)

Swagger went for an early Patriot Lock, but Rusev escaped and recovered on the outside. Rusev and Lana had a heated "strategy session," then Rusev gained control of the match back in the ring. Swagger recovered on the floor, Zeb tried to give him a pep talk, Rusev continued to knock him off the apron back to the floor, and Zeb slapped Swagger across the chest to fire him up. Swagger finally re-entered the ring and made a heated comeback, but Rusev cut him off with a strike to the face.

Rusev tried a sidekick, but Swagger caught his ankle for the Patriot Lock. Rusev sold intense pain, then Swagger pulled him back to the center of the ring. Rusev teased tapping out as Lana implored him to fight, then Rusev lunged toward the bottom rope for a break. On the floor, Swagger put Rusev in the Patriot Lock again. But, Rusev swung Swagger face-first into the ringpost, knocking out Swagger. Rusev re-entered the ring at a count of nine, then Swagger was counted out at ten.

Post-match: Doctors checked on Swagger, who sold being KO'ed. Meanwhile, Rusev celebrated with a giant Russian flag hanging overhead. Rusev and Lana taunted Swagger, then Rusev left the ring to retrieve a KO'ed Swagger. Rusev put Swagger in The Accolade back in the ring, then Lana decided that was enough Rusev Crush for one night.

WINNER: Rusev via count-out at 9:54. Uncomfortable match and feud all-around, especially as more news from the plane attack story continues to come out.

WWE Battleground Results: 7-20-14

Back live, Seth Rollins was introduced to the ring holding his MITB briefcase. WWE replayed Dean Ambrose attacking Rollins backstage before their scheduled match, then Triple H kicking Ambrose out of the building. In the ring, Rollins was introduced for a match. JBL said he doesn't get this, then Rollins spoke from the ring.

Rollins said that since his opponent, Ambrose, has been ejected from the building, he has come to the ring to accept his victory via forfeit. Rollins said he wants to be announced as the winner and he wants his hand raised.

4 -- SETH ROLLINS vs. DEAN AMBROSE

Justin Roberts announced Rollins as the winner via forfeit, then Rollins's music played and he celebrated in the ring.

Suddenly, Dean Ambrose showed up and attacked Rollins as Rollins left the ring. Ambrose chucked Rollins over the guardrail, then beat him up int he arena as Lawler noted some security members are going to be fired over this. The fight continued with no one emerging to grab Ambrose, then Ambrose chucked Rollins over the guardrail onto the Spanish announce table. Ambrose continued to assault Rollins until security finally hit ringside to pull Ambrose off Rollins. Security hauled Ambrose away from ringside, but Ambrose broke free and went after Rollins again, splashing him. Refs tried to help Rollins away, but Ambrose attacked him again.

Triple H eventually showed up and pulled Ambrose away. Hunter forcefully pushed Ambrose away, then agents showed up to shove Ambrose down to the ground. Agents tried to haul Ambrose away, and Rollins decided it was a good time to attack Ambrose while he was vulnerable. Agents eventually got a piece of Ambrose's body and hauled him off, but Rollins attacked Ambrose on the way out. More chaos and bodies and shaking camera action before Rollins and Ambrose were subdued on the floor. Hunter then picked up Rollins and helped him away from Ambrose before raising Rollins's hand in victory. Boos. Ambrose was eventually hauled off before Hunter and Rollins disappeared to the back.

WINNER: Rollins via forfeit at 0:00. A good fight to make up for not having a match between Rollins and Ambrose. If Rollins cashes in MITB to become WWE champ tonight, they have a hot title match ready for Summerslam next month. Understandable, though, if people were upset by a match not happening tonight since it's arguably the top feud in WWE right now.

5 -- CHRIS JERICHO vs. BRAY WYATT (w/Harper and Rowan)

Bray was the aggressor early on, then Jericho tried to respond with chops, but Bray just smiled and encouraged it. Jericho tried a slap to the face, but Bray responded with a knee to the gut. Bray continued the attack, then Jericho teased a comeback, causing Harper and Rowan to instinctively try to get involved. The ref saw it and booted the henchmen from ringside, making this one-on-one.

Jericho and Bray then went back and forth trading nearfalls and offense with neither man able to sustain control. Jericho suddenly popped Bray with the Codebreaker out of nowhere. He covered and it was good for the pin and the win with no kick-out from Wyatt, surprising the crowd.

WINNER: Jericho at 15:03. That was a big upset based on the betting lines, as Wyatt strengthened from a slight -300 favorite to a strong -1,350 favorite. Removing the betting lines from the equation, that was a surprising result for Bray to take another loss, but apparently they felt the need to re-establish Jericho in his first match since returning. Overall, they had good chemistry, but it felt like they held back to save something for a presumed re-match.

Backstage: Seth Rollins was shown leaving the building still in his wrestling gear. Rollins thanked the security guards for escorting him out of the building to the parking area, then told them to leave. Rollins stopped in his tracks, sensing something was off about the situation. Ambrose then popped out of the trunk of Rollins's rental car and another fight broke out. Rollins eventually got in his car and sped away as JBL asked where security is to keep Ambrose out of the building.

WWE Battleground Results: 7-20-14

In-ring: Big E. was out first, followed by Alberto Del Rio, then Cesaro, R-Truth, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Zack Ryder, Titus O'Neil, last-minute addition Damien Sandow dressed as a Florida beach bum from the weekend house shows, Heath Slater, Diego from Los Matadores, Sin Cara, Xavier Woods covered in water, Great Khali, Kofi Kingston, Bo Dallas, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, and U.S. champion Sheamus. No Rob Van Dam or Fandango.

Wade Barrett was then introduced dressed in a suit and matching cast. The former IC champion said whoever wins this battle royal receives the huge honor of becoming new champion. However, he has some bad news. Because becoming the new champion will be like an old couple retiring here in Florida - it's simply delaying the inevitable of dying. And it will come in the form of a Bullhammer.

Live PPV - Hour 3

6 -- BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE VACANT INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE

Great Khali quickly started eliminating folks, including Zack Ryder and Xavier Woods. A bunch of guys then ganged up on Khali to eliminate him. Meanwhile, the announcers tried to dissect Sandow's beach bum attire. Also, Miz was just hanging out on the floor out of the way of the action with no referees imploring him to return to the ring.

Sheamus then Brogue-Kicked Ryback right over the top rope to the floor. Miz suddenly returned to the ring and tried to eliminate Sheamus, but Sheamus blocked. Ziggler then snapped on Miz with a Zig-Zag and Miz rolled back to the floor. Bo Dallas suddenly eliminated Titus, then took a victory lap right into a Cesaro Clothesline. Kofi and Cesaro then battled and Kofi tried one of his elimination-avoidance routines, but it was a bit of a struggle, so they eventually both just returned to the ring.

The crowd rallied behind Ziggler, who eliminated Del Rio, then the WWE Network feed suddenly flashed backwards to the end of Rusev vs. Swagger from an hour ago. Fast-forwarding back to real-time, Kofi was in the middle of another elimination-avoidance, this time involving Big E. with Cesaro. Cesaro then suplexed Kofi over the top rope, eliminating Kofi after putting up a good fight.

At 10:00, Slater snuck up behind Cesaro and eliminated him. Slater did too much celebrating, so Sheamus tried to eliminate him, and then he eventually ended him with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus chucked Bo Dallas over the top rope, but Bo landed on the ring apron. So, Sheamus hit Ten Forearms to the Chest. Ziggler then dropkicked Bo off the ring apron, bringing the match down to Sheamus and Ziggler. Is Miz still involved?

Sheamus and Ziggler focused on the IC Title sitting ringside, then the battle was on. Ziggler awkwardly fell on Sheamus's head going for a Fameasser, then they reset with a botched sunset flip that ended with Sheamus crashing onto Dolph's face. Another reset, then Sheamus flipped Ziggler over the top rope, but Ziggler held onto the top rope to keep himself in the match. Ziggler responded with a clothesline, but only one of Sheamus's feet hit the floor. Ziggler then superkicked Sheamus over the top rope and appeared to win the match. But, there was Miz, who snuck back into the ring to eliminate Ziggler for the win.

Post-match: Miz celebrated his victory as the Network feed jumped backwards to Goldust & Stardust. Back to real-time, the announcers were hyping the Network for PPV customers.

WINNER: Miz at 14:05 to capture the IC Title. Such a cliched, eye-rolling finish. It doesn't even make logical sense when there were five referees around ringside and not one of them forced Miz to re-enter the ring at some point in the final five minutes? Very illogical.

7 -- WWE World Hvt. champion JOHN CENA vs. ROMAN REIGNS vs. KANE vs. RANDY ORTON -- fatal-four way WWE World Hvt. Title match

Kane played a good helper for Orton early on, but Cena and Reigns kicked out of pin attempts. Cena then took out Kane and dropped the Five Knuckle Shuffle to Orton, but Orton escaped an AA attempt and fell to the floor. Next it was Reigns and Cena, who rubbed his hands in excitement. But, Orton and Kane ambushed the top babyfaces. Kane found himself in a pinning situation on Reigns, who kicked out, then Orton entered the ring to confront Kane. Meanwhile, the crowd picked up a "Daniel Bryan" chant before doing "Yes!" shouts to show they still remember the former WWE champion.

Orton and Kane came to blows, ending their Authority Alliance, then Reigns and Cena sprung on them for a double-team suplex. Cena and Reigns squared off again, but Kane sat up, so the faces beat up Kane. But, Orton knocked down Cena and Reigns, then nailed them with a double DDT from the second rope. Orton covered Reigns, but Kane broke it up, officially ending their alliance.

Reset at 9:30 with Cena and Reigns each trying to submit Orton, but Kane broke it up. Cena then dropped Kane with an AA, but Kane rolled under the ring to the floor. So, Cena re-adjusted and put Orton in the STF. Orton teased tapping, but eventually crawled to the bottom rope, where Reigns yanked Orton out of the hold that showed a ridiculous amount of light. Reigns smashed Kane into the announce table, then returned to the ring.

Face-off #3 between Reigns and Cena yielded some physicality. Yay / Boo on the punches exchanged, then Reigns roadblocked Cena into the corner. Reigns stalked Cena for a Superman Punch, but Cena ducked and hit a sit-out slam to set up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Reigns sprung on him with a Superman Punch. The announcers said Reigns is closing in on his first title, which meant he wasn't. Reigns speared Cena hard to the mat, but Kane broke up the pinfall.

Reset at 14:00 with Reigns and Kane battling. Reigns dropped Kane with a Superman Punch, then he double-foot dropkicked Cena in the head. And one for Orton. And a third for Kane. Reigns then charged Orton and speared him through the gimmicked barricade in front of the timekeeper's table. Back in the ring, Reigns and Cena traded nearfalls on Kane, which were broken up by the other top face. Cena then dropped Reigns with an AA, but Kane broke it up.

Reset at 17:00 with Cena, Reigns, and Kane in the ring. Kane chokeslammed Cena after getting him high in the air, then he chokeslammed Reigns for a two count. Kane sold frustration, then he stalked Reigns for a Tombstone Piledriver, but Reigns blocked and speared Kane for a two count broken up by Orton. Orton RKO'ed Reigns, but Cena sprung on Orton for an AA onto Kane. Cena then covered Kane for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Cena at 18:16 to retain the WWE World Title. A bit of a mixed-bag title match. Some good sequences, not as big of a reaction for Cena vs. Reigns as WWE probably would have liked, and a predictable split between Orton and Kane.

Post-match: Cena celebrated, then held both title belts in the air. They focused on Reigns selling the effects of the match ringside before going back to a live shot of Cena standing tall with the belts. Cena looked to the back, then continued celebrating as Reigns woke up a bit and sold frustration over not winning. Cena looked down at Reigns to display the title belts, then Cena slid out of the ring. Cena disappeared to the back as the trademarks flashed, there was no MITB cash-in attempt, and the PPV ended eight minutes before the top of the hour.

The Network feed resumed with a live shot of Roman Reigns dejectedly walking away from ringside before Cole, Lawler, and JBL recapped the main event.

Tag match was awesome and some good spots during the 4-way but overall a very lackluster show. The crowd sure didn't help as they seemed dead all night.

Just a terrible PPV. Only highlight was the tag match.

Tag match was awesome and some good spots during the 4-way but overall a very lackluster show. The crowd sure didn't help as they seemed dead all night.

Having an excellent tag match to start the PPV to me hurt the rest of the show. Though I liked the idea behind Ambrose continuing attacking Rollins, I would've rather seen it in the ring or at the least set up as a no DQ match. Main event was okay but everyone knew Cena was going to win. Miz winning the IC belt sucked. There really needs to be a rule on how long somebody can stay out of the ring during a battle royale match. Sad that with all the refs there, you would think at the least a 10 count to get back into the ring would have sufficed.

Hopefully SummerSlam will be tons better than Battleground ;)

At least the G1 Climax 24 has alleviated the pain that was Battleground. Hell, I was BORED watching Battleground. The G1 Climax had better in ring action and no bullcrap.

Here's part one.

Funny, Ambrose has a mouth like nobody's business. When he gave crap to Orton and called him "Creampuff" it came out awesome. When Roman tried it he couldn't even say it with a straight face, he actually looks goofy when he smiles thus he must of been told to keep it serious. Rollins is an incredible wrestler but he has no business on the mic yet. He needs more persona training something triple douche should teach him a thing or two about.

Ambrose style (guys that just ooze charisma) heels just aren't getting over right now...

Also makes more sense to have Rollins turn on the other two since he doesn't stand out as much.

The only heel on top of the game is Orton 'cause he's a freaking reptile on the ring, the way he moves is great but I wish he would just break out of that comfort zone and do some new shit! He was hot for a while, I dunno what happened to the man but I always wondered why he wouldn't get better with time as he's very athletic and smooth.

WWE RAW Results: 7-21-14

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Slightly condensed here for your reading pleasure.

1 -- ROMAN REIGNS vs. RANDY ORTON & KANE

Reigns started off on the defensive, prompting a "Roman Reigns" chant from the crowd. Reigns continued to take a beating before being knocked to the outside. Kane tried to whip Reigns into the ring steps, but Reign reversed and Kane ate the steps. Reigns stood tall in the ring heading to break.

Raw returned with Reigns back on the defensive against The Authority's top heels. Reigns made his comeback and Cole was produced to talk about social media items. Meanwhile, Lawler and JBL traded barbs on whether Reigns is impressing Triple H.

Kane cut off Reigns and reached over to Orton to tag him in, but Orton shook his head no. So, Kane grabbed Orton around the throat, which allowed Reigns to blast Kane from behind. Reigns then speared Kane for the pin and the win. Afterward, Reigns stared down Orton, who decided to bail from ringside and head to the back.

WINNER: Reigns at 12:22. Bells and whistles on the heel side to protect Reigns in a singles situation. Reigns has great flashes and his signature offense looks great, but he needs more time to develop into a main event-level singles wrestler keeping the audience engaged during the meat of his matches. The standard is much higher at this level and he's going to need time to develop in this role.

In-ring: Alicia Fox's music brought out the heel quartet. Before Nikki Bella was introduced, WWE re-replayed Brie Bella slapping Stephanie McMahon at Payback last month, setting in motion Nikki Bella paying for Brie's slap for several weeks. On the pre-game show, WWE noted Nikki has a surprise for this situation. Apparently it was Brie, who was on the front row in street clothes to give Nikki a sisterly hug before the match.

Before the bell sounded, Stephanie McMahon's music played. Stephanie marched out on-stage with something to say about Brie sitting on the front row. "Oh look, it's the quitter," she said. Stephanie slipped and called Brie "Nikki," before noting it's quite fitting she's just another face in the crowd after quitting in favor of Daniel Bryan. The crowd jumped into "Yes!" shouts at the Bryan mention. Brie smiled along, then Steph noted Bryan was stripped of the WWE World Title (boos) and has been injured ever since. "Smart move, Brie!" she said.

Steph said now Brie gets to watch Nikki get demolished tonight, and it's all because of her. "You're such a b----," Brie said off-mic, popping one fan huge on the second row. Steph wanted Brie kicked out of the building, but Brie pulled out a ticket. She then yanked the mic away from Steph and called her a "vindictive b----." Steph slapped Brie across the face and Brie tried to hop the guardrail to attack Steph, but she had security haul Brie away. Steph called her a pathetic loser on the way out before calling for the bell.

2 -- NIKKI BELLA vs. ALICIA FOX & ROSA MENDES & CAMERON & EVA MARIE -- handicap match

The heel Divas immediately jumped on Nikki and beat her down with no sense of order to the proceedings. Steph watched as Nikki was dismantled and the ref stood helpless. Post-match, Nikki was knocked out of the ring. Suddenly, the screen went black, then Steph told Nikki that she's going to end up quitting just like her sister. Steph smugly walked off, satisfied with her work for the evening.

WINNERS: Heel Divas at 1:05.

3 -- DAMIEN SANDOW vs. BO DALLAS

Sandow pounded away on Dallas early on, looking fresh in his basketball shorts, jersey, headband, and basketball shoes. "Let's Go Heat" chant from the crowd, which distracted Sandow momentarily. But, Sandow ran over Dallas with a clothesline. Lawler summed up the overall issue with this match situation: "I don't know who to cheer here." LeBron did MVP's ballin' motion, then scooped up Bo for a bodyslam. Sandow tried to follow with the Elbow of Disdain, but Bo moved just in-time. Bo followed right up with the Bo-Dog for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Dallas at 2:33. So, one week, Bo is a clear heel running over little El Torito in a post-match victory situation and this week Bo is the default babyface opposite "LeBron James" in Miami. The messy re-introduction for Dallas continues.

4 -- IC champion THE MIZ vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER -- non-title match

Ziggler quickly got his hands on Miz to take out his frustration from Battleground last night. But, Miz caught Ziggler on the way back into the ring and cut him off. Ziggler quickly absorbed Miz's attack and delivered nine "heart-stopping" elbow drops to Miz's chest. Miz avoided the tenth, then cut off Ziggler and applied a chinlock. Ziggler broke free, then tried to punch Miz in the face, but Miz covered his face. Ziggler, frustrated, ran into Miz, who kind of dumped him near the ringpost. Ziggler did the rest selling a facial blow before spilling to the floor heading to break.

Back from break, the crowd was into the match and Miz was in control. Ziggler then caught Miz in the mid-section to get a breather. Both men sold on the mat, then Ziggler hit his feet and ran over Miz with clotheslines. Neckbreaker, Miz audibly called a spot while trying to cover his mouth, and Ziggler slowly came to his feet. Ziggler and Miz engaged in a back-and-forth exchange of nearfalls, then Miz audibly called another spot before they reset.

Ziggler charged Miz, who initially blocked Ziggler's offense, but Ziggler nailed a Fameasser for a two count. Both men sold on the mat again, with Miz very slow to recover while Ziggler stalled for time. Ziggler then walked into a spike DDT for a two count. Miz became frustrated, then worked on Ziggler's leg to set up for the figure-four leglock, but Ziggler trapped Miz's legs for a small package nearfall.

Reset, then Miz tried the figure-four leglock again. This time, Miz applied it center of the ring. Ziggler screamed in pain, then tried to reverse the pressure or grab the bottom rope. Ziggler made it to the bottom rope with a final gasp and Miz was forced to break the hold. Miz tried to follow up, but Ziggler caught him with the Fameasser for a close two count.

Another reset, then Miz tried the Skullcrushing FInale, but Ziggler avoided. Miz then flinched when Ziggler tried to strike his face and Ziggler followed up with the Zig-Zag for the pin and the win. Post-match, Miz quickly scampered out of the ring to grab his IC Title belt. Justin Roberts announced him as still IC champion, then WWE played his music as he posed with his shades.

WINNER: Ziggler at 13:58. Really awkward middle sequence before they recovered at the end. Ziggler was a pro trying to slow the pace for Miz to keep up without ruining the flow of the match. And, it only took one night for Miz to begin losing singles matches as the latest heel IC champion.

5 -- Divas champion A.J. LEE & PAIGE vs. EMMA & NATALYA

It's a super-respect match with all babyfaces in the match. The crowd started a "C-M Punk" chant upon the bell sounding, which A.J. half-acknowledged by just shrugging her shoulders and batting her eyes in-character. A.J., then Paige took turns dominating Emma early on. Natalya then tagged in to get some offense, including the Sharpshooter on Paige. But, Paige reached up and tagged in A.J., who took out Natalya for the win.

Post-match: Paige and A.J. played Cena and Reigns raising each other's hand in the air in victory, then Paige suddenly blasted A.J. with a clothesline. Paige dragged A.J. to the outside and beat her up for a few minutes. Paige, now in vicious heel mode, surveyed her damage before hitting the top of the ramp. Paige breathed a sigh of relief finally dropping the nice act as A.J. continued to sell the beating on the outside.

WINNERS: A.J. & Paige at 2:30.

6 -- FANDANGO vs. ZACK RYDER (w/Summer Rae and Layla)

The Divas tried to get a "Let's Go Ryder" chant going as Fandango angrily attacked Ryder. Meanwhile, the announcers argued about social media and online dating. The comedown match suddenly ended when Ryder hit the Rough Ryder, Layla pushed Fandango's foot off the bottom rope, and Ryder scored a pin for the win. Ryder sold shock over getting a victory on Raw, then he celebrated with Layla and Summer in the ring.

WINNER: Ryder at 1:45.

Announcers: Cole, Lawler, and JBL transitioned to a discussion of Triple H's decision still to come. Suddenly, JBL stopped mid-sentence as Stephanie was greeted by two people playing cops. A WWE security guard tried to intervene, but the police officers threatened to arrest Stephanie, who sold concern over what was going on. One of the cops pulled out a card and read Stephanie her rights. Steph shouted back that she understands her rights since she owns this building. "Yes!" shouts in the background as Steph continued to argue with the cops over her altercation with Brie Bella. One of the cops arrested Stephanie for battery, then she was cuffed as the crowd went wild.

Suddenly, Brie Bella showed up ringside. Apparently the same security that allowed Dean Ambrose to run roughshod last night was hired for tonight's assignment. Steph freaked out at Brie's presence while being hauled away, then tried to attack Brie with both hands cuffed behind her back, but she was eventually hauled away while vowing not to go to jail. "I'll have your badge," she growled.

Once they entered the backstage area, Triple H freaked out trying to defend his wife. He demanded to see the officers's badges as Steph was hauled away from the building. "Hunter, help me!" she shouted before shouting about her right to self-defense. Hunter said he's going to get "Jerry" (McDevitt) on the phone. Steph cried as she thought about going downtown to jail. Hunter told the officers to think about the career decision they're making right now. Steph was placed inside the car, then Hunter vowed to get her out of jail in five minutes. The police car drove off as Hunter sold freaking out. "Jimmy!" Hunter shouted down the hallway before pacing back and forth. Hunter was left trying to figure out what to do since no one can run the show after they fired all the GMs.

We'll be right back after these words from our sponsors...

WWE RAW Results: 7-21-14 (the exciting conclusion!)

7 -- KOFI KINGSTON & BIG E. vs. RYBACK & CURTIS AXEL

The announcers focused on the Stephanie-Bella issue as the two teams battled in the ring. Kofi took a hot tag from Big E. and ran over Ryback with fast-paced offense, but Axel broke up a pin. Big E. then clotheslined Axel and himself over the top rope to the floor. Back to Kofi, who splashed Ryback off the top rope, but Ryback rolled through and trapped Kofi to the mat for a three count.

Post-match: Big E. got in Kofi's face to discuss their latest loss. Suddenly, a man in a white suit was in the ring. It was Xavier Woods telling them that they cannot move up by shaking hands and playing nice. Woods said together they will find purpose and they will not ask any longer. Now, they take. Kofi and Big E. sold contemplating Xavier's words.

WINNERS: Ryback & Axel at 3:21. And there's WWE's response to recent hard questions over WWE's history of racially-driven stories - creating a new faction centered on race. It's cut from the same cloth as WWE facing hard questions over the adult nature of their programming in the Attitude Era and creating the Right to Censor group.

8 -- GREAT KHALI vs. RUSEV (w/Lana)

Khali put up a strong attack against undefeated Rusev early on, drawing concerns from Lana ringside. Khali then chopped Rusev hard across the chest. More concern from Lana. Rusev suddenly charged at Khali, but he ran right into Khali's big chop to the head. Rusev did not stay down long, though, as he kicked Khali in the face, then slapped on The Accolade center-ring. Khali kind of wiggled his feet while locked in the hold, then he tapped on Rusev's leg to end the match.

Post-match: Rusev stood tall in the ring with Lana, then the giant Russian flag came down from the rafters to provide the background for Rusev's celebration. Cole hyped Rusev against Sheamus tomorrow night on Main Event.

WINNER: Rusev via submission at 2:25.

9 -- DEAN AMBROSE vs. CESARO

Back to the ring, where Cesaro was standing by to face Ambrose in the default main event. A minute into the match, WWE cut backstage to show Hunter still on the phone while Orton and Rollins were standing next to him watching the match in the ring. Back in the ring, Cesaro targeted Ambrose's taped-up shoulder, but Ambrose snapped to attention and chucked Cesaro out of the ring. Ambrose tried to follow up, but Cesaro intercepted with an emphatic European Uppercut. Raw cut to break with Cesaro in control.

Back from break, Cesaro was still in control of the action. Ambrose tried to come back with a rebound lariat, but Cesaro ducked and suplexed Ambrose for a two count. Ambrose charged Cesaro in the corner, then back-elbowed him into a Tornado DDT for another nearfall. But, Cesaro yanked Ambrose shoulder-first across the top rope moments later, then landed an explosive clothesline for a two count.

Cesaro then hung up Ambrose in the corner and nearly got himself DQ'ed with repeated corner strikes. Ambrose absorbed the attack, then drove Cesaro shoulder-first into the ringpost, turning the tables on Cesaro's attack. Ambrose then grabbed a steel chair and smashed Cesaro's shoulder with it, drawing a DQ.

Post-match: Ambrose chucked a chair into the ring, but Cesaro bailed from the ring to avoid Ambrose entering crazy mode. Ambrose sat down in his chair as his music played despite taking the loss and called out to Cesaro to get back in the ring.

WINNER: Cesaro via DQ at 12:30. This felt like an after-thought of a main event based on how much distance there was between the match being set up and the match actually occurring, especially with the issue being Rollins vs. Ambrose, not Cesaro vs. Ambrose. It came across like WWE saw Cesaro vs. Ambrose as a big-enough deal to be a "TV main event before a show-closing angle," but also completely expendable, especially when WWE did not offer a graphic advertisement for the match taking place in the several commercial breaks leading up to the match. All of the "still to come" advertising was for Flo Rida performing and Triple H's decision.

Triple H's Decision

Back from break, Triple H was in the ring to introduce John Cena's opponent for the WWE World Title at Summerslam ... pause to look to the back ... suddenly, Randy Orton's music interrupted.

Orton walked out on-stage slapping his chest thinking he was the opponent as the announcers played Mike Tenay taking the bait on Orton as the opponent. Suddenly, Roman Reigns attacked Orton ringside. The fight was on and Reigns took Orton over the guardrail into the crowd. Back in the ring, Hunter rubbed his head in frustration. Some of the crowd chanted for Brock Lesnar, then Paul Heyman suddenly walked out on-stage sans music.

Heyman humbly and sheepishly addressed Triple H, saying it appears Plan A (Orton) just isn't working. And, Plan B (Rollins) is great, but every time he tries to cash in MITB, Dean Ambrose is going to stop him. So, he thinks The Authority has the uncomfortable decision to agree with him that he needs to make the dangerous choice of implementing Plan C.

Pause, then Brock Lesnar's music played. Heyman laughed to himself as Lesnar emerged on-stage looking ready for a big Cena snack. Lesnar marched down to the ring as Hunter grimaced and contemplated Plan C. Meanwhile, Cole hyped Lesnar breaking The Streak and Lawler noted Lesnar broke Hunter's arm two years ago.

Lesnar entered the ring and stood opposite Hunter as Heyman advocated Lesnar as the best option for Hunter. Hunter looked down at the ground, then smiled at Heyman as he extended his hand. Hunter shook Heyman's hand, patted him on the shoulder, and then shook Lesnar's hand. "Are you kidding me?" Lawler asked. Hunter left the ring.

Heyman, leaning against the ropes, slowly introduced himself. And noted that his client, Brrrrrock Lessssnar, conquered The Undertaker's Undefeated Streak at WrestleMania. Now, Lesnar moves on to conquering John Cena (cheers) and take the WWE World Hvt. Title from Cena at Summerslam.

Heyman said his client officially acknowledges this divide in the fanbase - there are those who wear John Cena merchandise and scream their passion for their hero by shouting, "Let's Go Cena." And there are those who offer the contrarian opinion and will shout "Cena Sucks." Heyman said it does not matter to his client which side of the fence you are on because this "malpracticing Dr. of Thuganomics" will be conquered at Summerslam.

Heyman flashed back to the last time Lesnar zero'ed in on someone and decided to give him a beating. Heyman introduced a video package from WrestleMania 30 when Lesnar dropped Taker with three F5s and pinned Taker to break The Streak.

Back live, Heyman patted Lesnar on the back and celebrated the win. Heyman said beating The Streak wasn't good enough for Lesnar, because he gave such a violent beating to Taker that even their "heartless chairman" Vince McMahon rode in the ambulance with Taker. Heyman continued that Lesnar offers Cena no offer to escape the beating coming to him at Summerslam. Heyman shouted that Lesnar will punch Cena's face in, Cena will be hurt, he will be injured, mangled, and then Lesnar will strip Cena of the dignity of being WWE World champion.

Heyman said it will be like Lesnar exposing The Streak as "just being a myth," just like the myth of John Cena being the greatest WWE World champion of all-time. Heyman vowed to take out Cena, then pledged allegiance to the conquering Lesnar. "Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman," he said, "And I'm the one behind the one in 21-and-1. And at Summerslam, my client, Brock Lesnar, will beat John Cena and become the WWE Hvt. champion of the world."

Lesnar's music played and Cole transitioned into stacking the deck against Cena at Summerslam. Lawler took a breath following the "tirade" from Paul Heyman and said Heyman might have even convinced him of Lesnar beating Cena at Summerslam. Lesnar bounced up and down ready to snack on Cena as Raw signed off 11 minutes past the top of the hour.

Lesnar is the right choice.

With Heyman as they hype man, pumping up Lesnar's status as 'the man' following his win at WM, Lesnar is properly being promoted as an unstoppable machine and a legitimate threat to any champion.

I also like that Lesnar hasn't been all tha visible. He's like Godzilla, rising from the depths only to take the most meaningful fights and not wasting his time with anything that 'mere mortals' would consider important.

Lesnar has a remade image in WWE after his time in MMA, and this is absolutely the right decision.

WWE has been doing some really great stuff lately, I have to admit. Or at the very least, they've been doing things I enjoy.

Nikki Bella so damn hot. I can't take it. I am out of my mind for her and I think I may need to ask my wife for another concession.

Things I wold like to see:

1.) CM Punk's return
2.) Iron Sheik as a hype man-fully uncensored
3.) More Adam Rose
4.) More Goldust-Stardust tag matches
5.) Nikki Bella get a real push (because I like looking at her)
