I can't really fathom the motive behind targeting a center which offers services for those with developmental disabilities.

At this moment... I'm pretty disgusted... MORE than usual...

...LOOK.. whether you target tourists... or the so called "disabled"... it shouldn't make a difference...

But it does to me:(

if they are white can we call them terrorists? or are they just mentally disturbed still?

Depends, are they on anti-psychotic meds and fighting to defeat the voice of the sun in their heads that tells them to kill everyone, or fighting for the purpose of instilling terror to push a political agenda?

Colorado shooter was a mentally ill crackpot who registered to vote as a female political activist and rambled about baby parts. Possibly politically motivated, but also just as likely crazy.

Chris Harper-Mercer was obviously not killing for political reasons. At least none we could see.

Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, on the other hand was definitely looking to sacrifice himself for Allah and kill Kaffir when he shot up a navy recruitment center.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could go more than a few weeks before another one of these shootings going on?

This shit is getting very old.

Time between shootings has shortened to HOURS in the past few years.
Few of them are publicized, like the one recently in New Orleans where some fucker shot up a PLAYGROUND.

I read an article that mentioned it might have been the Christmas party taking place at the time of the shooting that was the target, this came from an officer that wanted to remain anonymous since the investigation was still ongoing.

Wow...so this turning out to be a not-so-average deal then...

Could this be an honest to god "terrorist" attack?

Holy shit... I was stationed at that playground briefly when it was a temporary FEMA trailer park after Katrina. I just looked at my old pictures and found the same corner on google maps today. Freaky.

I tried to convince my family to move over to the US for a while and my other half used to use this kind of thing as an excuse to not go.

Thanks to fucknuts like these three I'm sat in britain now, it's cold, it's wet and it goes dark at 3:30pm.

Can you do anything? To prevent it? To help those affected? U can't. This inability is the source of numbness. Physical distance can kill a lot of things, out of those, emotions being only the most prominent.

That's pretty much it.

You just hope anyone you know isn't affected.

Apparently one of them is a woman, another a practicing muslim and another they're trying to find more about. LOL at all the stupid idiots on twitter rambling about gun control and banning guns as if criminals get weapons legally.

This isn't directed at you but bear with me here.

Maybe, just maybe, we're talking about gun control for a reason. Everyone against gun control seems to point at mental health care as the (or at least a major) answer to gun violence. But maybe (again, just maybe) we're talking about gun control because we saw what happened when a particular person tried to get people access to health care.

Perhaps if a certain political party that is hell-bent on everyone being able to get firearms (to the point where toddlers shooting people is commonplace) redirected 5% of that energy on actually getting people [mental] health care in this country, we could be having a different conversation.

I am all for having more background checks done on people wanting to purchase weapons. I have zero issues with that. I think the problem with that route is there's some sort of legal shithole involved in allowing people to check your medical records to see if you are mentally ill. Toddlers getting weapons has nothing to do with being able to purchase a weapon, that comes from shitty parents as any child would be told to leave any legitimate licensed firearm store.

The other problem is, sure you gave someone mentally ill access to healthcare to treat it...but will they? Are they going to go out on their own accord and go get treatment? Do they know they're mentally ill?

When I think of people wanting more restrictions on weapon purchases I always think of Chicago which from my understanding has some of the strictest gun controls in the country, yet some of the highest illegal shooting rates. Look at Mexico, guns are banned, yet I go across to Nuevo Laredo weekly on business and there's about 3 shootings a day over there, lot of good it does to keep legally owned weapons out of law abiding citizens when criminals will always get them illegally.

I don't think the problem is the weapons, it's the culture.

I'm just saying that maybe if we're going to allow every adult the right to a firearm (which is a constitutional right) then perhaps we should follow every other industrialized nation on earth and allow them access to health care (including mental health care). People love to point at mental health as 'the issue' while keeping healthcare harder to obtain than a firearm.

Eh in the end, the saddest part of events like this are politicians using it as ammunition for their own agenda.

"One thing we do know is that we have a pattern of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere in the world," he said.

So I guess we can just skip right over the fact that the firearms used in France a few weeks ago were 100% banned in that country...

Like it or not...ban all the guns if you like, force all law abiding citizens to pile every gun they own on a rocket and shoot the fucker in space.

Then wait a few weeks for the next asshole to shoot someone with a black market gun...

Lol@anyone who thinks banning something will stop this shit....

Why not just make it illegal to kill people? That would solve it!

You 'murcans have "active shooter events" like every single week now. No other country in the western world has that. France has had ONE such incident, which was an actual terrorist attack, and not just a nutjob who should never have had access to weapons.

Terrorists will get weapons. Hardened criminals will too, but most often use them on other criminals. Only in the US do unstable nutcases have easy access to weapons, which is why you people have all those neat mass shootings. NOT ONE "active shooter event" in the last 30 years has been stopped by an armed civilian. The argument for arming everybody is, thus, really bad.
