See if anyone can help me on this:

I have a domain name that is uses a Zone Area File where the A types are pointing to an I.P. number.

NOW. This IS the correct I.P. Number, I know it is because I did a reverse NS search on the domain name BUT if you just type in the domain name...you get an error from the webhosting "no web page set up here"..or something to that effect.

Now, that's not my problem but it may come into play as I want to direct this new URL NOT to that I.P. number but a sub directory within that I.P.? Anyone following me?

Example:

The URL currently points to 213.171.193.13

I want to point it to, essentially 213.171.193.13/blaine/

That's an invalid A address for a Zone Area File.

What do I have to do to get around this, if anything?

Is it simply impossible?

I see this not getting answered right away so expect bumps .

Wouldn't it be best to have 213.171.193.13 resolve to url x and then have url x auctomatically transfer over to the desired directory?

I hope I'm reading your question correctly.

Oh...you're reading it right.

Suffice it to say that if I could just use the root directory of that IP for that URL I would...but I can't. I HAVE to use a seperate sub-directory under that IP. The only other solution is to shell out another $300 for more webspace.

I'd do it that way, mvsholic, but that's just not feasable under the current sytem we're running. The root directory is spoken for and written in stone . I have to find a way to point to that sub-directory.

Thanks for trying though .
