KoF2001 this year on DC, sounds good to me. Still worth getting even if it ain't a very good game(compared to the other KOF's)

How can we have a port thread with out Drift King here to yell at Fran for 3 pages??? I feel so empty...

BTW, Ports do give Playmore/SNK more money. Especially on PS2, just being on that system almost gaurantees that it'll sell a decent amount of copies.

I just wanna take the time to say this.

Its an honor and a prestige for you all to be one of the few to own an AES. Its a rare system and not many people own one. Its also a collectors item. I have so much respect for the people who have shown a dedication to this scene by trading, buying, selling, pointing out bad sellers, good deals etc to each other so that this scene can stay alive for a long time to come.

However that respect i have for people is lost when they feel that just cuz they spend hundreds more on a game and now they truly and actually feel they are better than the people who don't have or can't afford an AES. They might as well say "i'm richer than you and you are poor, i'm better than you".

Long time and respected peeps like CappaTonK err Toncadonna err Cappadonna/TonK is a person i truly respect. He doesn't down peeps who can only play ports despite the fact he owns everybody here for free cuz he has a Slug 1 AES cart!!

The honor should come cuz the fact that you own a rare system like the neo geo, not cuz of the price tag.

You know, system advocacy is bad enough when it's the kiddies griping which "big name" system is better... SNES vs. Genesis vs. Turbo, Saturn vs. PSX vs. N64, PS2 vs. DC vs. Gamecube vs. X-Box...

But this? Griping over which Neo*Geo is "more real?" Home system and MVS are the same hardware. Different bios, different board layouts... same damn game. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two beyond limited credits and a few home modes (ie. practice).

Fanboys of any stripe make me ill. System advocates are utterly revolting. The one thing that supposedly brings you people together on this board in the first place is the Neo*Geo... more importantly, you all love the games that have been made for the system. So how about acting like a part of the community you claim to be and revel in the fact that there are people in the English-speaking world who love the Neo and its games enough to support it, in any fashion... be it MVS, home cart, CD, CDZ, NGP, ports, whatever. There aren't many of us in the world. Anyone who enjoys the games and is willing to put forth the cash to prove it should be lauded, not put down because they aren't paying as much or aren't getting the same thing you are.

Yung burnout, i'm not a trying to win people's respect or act like i'm all top tier or be the wise ass of the boards, i'm just spittin out common sense! Its a shame how some people act around here. oops, i forgot i use Brian too and Armor King and Paul. I use so many characters i forget!!

I never been to the Namco Arcade forums before but i just about every forum is the same. Filled with assholes. just cuz they know every frame of every character, won 72 tournaments and they can do paul's D+4:2:1+2 just frame they think they are better than everybody. They just have no life.

Do you play alot of Tekken 4?

HAHAHA, I bet they get annoyed when they get killed with Julia!! Them elbows of her's will piss you off to no end.

Unfortunately I almost never get to lay the smack down cuz the guys I play with are monsters. Mishimas on average are my best characters however when i have to fight most of the top players in my area My Lee Chaolan is the only thing that lets me hang with them and i can't stop them, only hang with them!!

However there was one night I played the top layer in my area and i got 3 perfects on him and the last match i got a perfect on him i ended it it with Lee's Mist Trap just frame!! i was so happy! But then he proceeded to rape me again......

SPinMaster I agree with you too, (I always had since our IGN board days...) but my point is that the people who use ports, like bashing the people who have the original stuff and that is one of the things that pisses me off. If they think that KOF2000 is better on the DC good, if they think that the DC is better than the Neo so BE IT, you know...but don't come in here a say that your fucking Dreamcast version is better because you are going to get flaming responses..I own all the ports for the DC from the Neo, and I also own the original AES carts, but in my opinion there's no better than the original. :mad:

Needless to say, I'm ecstatic about KOF 2001 coming to the Dreamcast. And before Christmas, no less. It'll certainly be a nice little stocking stuffer for me when I return home from college.

One reason I like ports is because you can introduce a whole lotta people to the game itself without having to lug an expensive system & equally expensive game 500+ miles down to college/friend's house/convention/etc. I don't mind if it isn't 100% accurate to the original; as long as I'm able to share the same features that made the original game fun with others, I'll be pleased for a good long while.

This is what it comes down to, regardless of what a person may think, or believe, the ports are not as good as the originals. That is the truth, there isn't any argument to be made on behalf of the ports. They don't stack up to the MVS/AES versions. There's always something missing or wrong, whether it be a move, or a sprite, or whatever. My problem with the port is that while *SOME* are good, they don't retain the feel of playing it on the Neo Geo.

Second, the fact that people try to bash those who own the AES versions and sit there saying how those AES owners wasted a lot of money when they could have gotten the game for $50 is LAME.

But that seems to be beyond some people. How? As soon as an AES person such as Fran, short, myself, and others defend the ORIGINAL (MVS/AES) version of the game, we get bashed for it.

Then, the fact that people use the whole thing of "EXTRAS" being a better reason to own the port and bash the AES cart.

My thought on that is, if you cannot find enough replay value in the original version of the game and need extras to help you find replay value, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING THE GAME!

Well whatever, disagree with me like most probably will or do.

i have nothing against ports in themselves

xmen vs sf on the saturn or vampire saviour,even sf3 third strike on the dc are great ports

i own them,but i know they're not the real thing
they're good ports,period

i would NEVER say stuff like:
"yeah,you have bought the original board and you're a cunt cos i saved 200 bucks with my dc port and its just as good"

id never say something like that cos i aint a stupid dickhead

because i dont suffer from an inferiority complex

people who bash home carts owners,
are just kids trying to win the aforementioned inferiority complex

plus (and this is the SADDEST part):
they do it on a site called NEO GEO COM

The point is, bashing of any kind is pointless and incredibly childish. If you love the games and you show your support by putting your money where your mouth is, then you're all on the same side.

This whole my-version-is-better-than-your-version thing is stupid. Period. It amazes me that this community, which should arguably one of the most tightly-knit gaming communities around, should be so divided over something so utterly trivial.

That's about as lame as Dion's ranting that Metal Slug for the PSX wasn't a fit topic for discussion on the old Neo ML. Chew on that.

I totally and completely agree with your point. There is no reason to say ports are better than the original. Drift King only said that bull shit cuz he is a Sega fanboy so KOF on the DC is like a piece of heaven for his ass so he feels the DC version is better.
