probably a stupid question but what is reflect barrier? there is reflect force and laser

how does it help collect medals does it bring them to you?

aye, I thinks it is more to do with where you die in the level, resetting the multiplier I read this on the wiki

Score multiplier system

The points received for destroying enemies are the product of their nominal value and the player's current score multiplier, which is increased by catching the medals that some enemies and destructible scenery release when destroyed.

Catching the medals increases the current score multiplier by the current medal value, which in turn increases by 1, 5, 10, 20, or 100 multiplier points for every medal caught depending its type. For example, catching three "5 point" medals at the beginning of the game leaves the score multiplier at 31 (1+5+10+15) and the following medal will be worth multiplier points equal to its base value plus 30.

Score multiplier is also increased by 100 when obtaining P icon when player's ship is at maximum power level.

The score multiplier is reset to 1 when continuing after losing the last life; the current medal value is reset after losing each life.

I should really be making it to stage 7 with all my lives but those boomerangs in the stage 6 boss-fortress thing keep getting me. I’ll get to the final boss later this month and then give up.

My monitor chassis died on me this Sunday when i was getting ready to try again the game.

I'm very happy because i was able to detect the problem (fried HOT) and just fired it up 5 minutes ago, it's up and running
Now let's see how long it will last.

Does this game have non-standard stage numbering? I get three normal stages (order determined by ship selection), then stage 4 is the same for all with mini floating islands, then stage 5 is the fortress boss with boomerangs.

Also got a 2.3Q score with the Sparrow. Lots of fun experimenting with the other ships.

Seems like we don't want to point-blank stuff in this game (unlike Giga Wing 1), and instead reflect bullets more from the sides to trigger the medal showers more often.

I'm kinda tempted to focus more on practicing the first three stages instead of going for a 1cc, as I'd like to see one of those sexy green numbers.

Have you tried the unlockable ships too? I think they should be allowed, because why not. They are powerful as hell, especially the Stranger which is completely broken (or was that Giga Wing 1...?)

no, I don't have any unlocked ships. iam not sure how to go about getting them

Are the unlockables available on the Naomi/Arcade cart?

You have to enter it fast though. Alternatively, you can 1cc the game with all the ships to unlock these (heh).

This also unlocks an option to skip all of the cutscenes, if you're in a hurry.
