This was my first AMOA show and being the scrub I was, I expected more than what I saw; however, I had to search long and hard to find a good time and at the end of the show, I must say that I have a swell time.
I took a few photos for those hungry eyes of yours. Not much to see, but hey, some is better than none.
Pictures won't do any justice without commentary, so let me start with SNK, since we're all here for that. Yep, you guessed it, the only show at the "show" was Zupapa and an Ultracade version of the Neo Geo. For those interested, the "ultracade" Neo Version is not an official product and is not approved by SNK...yet. So don't throw out those MVS carts just yet. Also, keep in mind that encrypted carts will never see the light of day into this unit if it ever comes out. NO MS3, NITD, etc. No doubt, it was a very neat concept. What was interesting about it is that all the rare carts for the Neo, SDB, P N'B, TSS, NDO, and some others were all available on this system. Hmm, for collector's...hard drive or carts? Carts all the way. Nice for those who would like to just play the games though.
Zupapa, uh, sucks. Wait for the price to drop down to $50.00, trust me. Personal opinion. Don't want to get into it.
Alright, what we all thought we were waiting for, we didn't get...well, not really. No KOF 2001 as I expected. I forgot who I mentioned this to on the NEO-GEO.COM boards, but I was right about the "suprise" title. It's METAL SLUG 4. Yep, more awesome shooting action. It's been confirmed by Apple Photo Systems that it will be released February 2002. KOF 2001 is a no brainer and that game may stink when it comes out, who knows, but we all know that Metal Slug 4 is gonna rock. I can't be any happier.
To make up for the no show of KOF 2001, you all can see the pics of the Penthouse Pets. Gotta love it guys, Apple may not know games, but they have the chicks to replace them. I didn't mind. Got 2 free issues, (one of each girl).
To unrelated news, Capcom was a no show, Sega was definitely the most impressive at the show with CVS2, the awesome Virtua Tennis 2, now with Patrick Rafter and a group of top women Tennis players (Venus & Serena to name a few), World Series Baseball and their awesome Naomi Universal Cab. Look at that beautiful silver finish. Up 'til now, I have refrained from getting the Naomi based games in kit form, but with this universal cab out, I'm getting it for sure. What a beauty!!
Oh the game of the show has to be "Spanky." I forget the title of the game, but it's in one of the pics and the objective of the game is to "spank" your choice of characters (ex-girlfriend, best friend, ex-wife, etc) to a certain "pressure" level to match the meter on the screen. I didn't really understand it when the guy described it to me. All I did was hit the bull's eyed ass as hard as it could. Why not? It was my ex-girlfriend after all. Just remember guys, all girls like to be spanked, whether they're good or bad.
That's a wrap up. I'm beat.
