EDIT: To reduce any confusion, high score runs must be done on one credit and default settings.

If there’s enough players for the Turbo version I’ll put up a scoreboard for it as well.

Awesome, can’t say I’ve ever played any slug game for score, let’s see how this goes.

Decided to throw it in the cab tonight and get started. Made it to stage 4.

Thoughts on scoring:
- finishing the stage with the Metal Slug gets you a 100,000 bonus
- finishing the stage with hostages is the next biggest boost in score (I think 10k each)
- when the line of helicopters come, destroy the first one first to get a score bonus

That’s all I got for now, but will spend some more time with the game this month.

I’ll get a run or two in later today, but good tips I remember:

Knife an enemy for more points

There is a ton of stuff you can shoot besides enemies, most of which will drop items. So you get 100pts per bullet hit plus whatever point value the items worth

The train stage when you have to jump to the next car after it’s been uncoupled, jump at maximum distance for 50k points

So if you don't take the top spot, it will kick your score off the table after the first attract pass. Kinda odd.

Stage 4, on the top run. Starting to remember things:

Stage 1 Boss shoot the turbines, first side to go out is 10K, if you can get the second it’s 50K

Beginning of stage 2, shoot the eye of the Sphinx for a jewel and get the hostage, then dismount from the camel with AB. The camel will kill the guy on the barrel and that lets you kill the guys above, then jump on the barrel and shoot the top right of the screen for two hidden hostages.
Hang around the first & last miner at the next section and they’ll dig up bonus for you.
The first mine entrance where the bats and miners run out has a hidden hostage in it

Near the end of stage 2 is a hidden type area with 2 lamps you can get that pop out genies. Watch a YouTube video to see how to max your points, it’s worth a chunk.


Stage 3 Train, before you jump to the next train shoot the smoke for 3 hidden hostages.

Stage 3 boss, if you wait a bit as you are fighting him Rumi will come out from the left. A bit longer and another hostage will come (46 seconds I think). I killed him after that but there may be more
EDIT: Rumi is at 53, hostages at 46 &39, Rumi is always worth 30k at the end

Ya so I went to play my MS2 last night and my MVS mobo took a crap on me now I have to find clean one with a Unibios so I can show you guys my horrible skills at this game. They have cheap ones from China like $50 shipped but I don’t feel like waiting a month.

Yea it did it the first time I played but now my scores are staying, dunno what happened.

I would like to see some more scores. It's no fun when no one is playing. Don't really care what your score is, show me you actually play.

Yea, the slowdown means you end up pressing the button with the frame time. I usually stop shooting altogether and just jump and then start shooting again when I land. Youre gonna have tons of fun on Stage 6

So, there’s a bit of a bug I take advantage of there. The platform you jump on in the middle that starts the boss, immediately drop to the lower platform on the right and the boss won’t move. You can get the easy kill and not have to worry about losing your Slug

Doesn't the 4 at the end of your score mean you continued and the 0 credit?
