I cannot contain my boner! Dude I'd love to have prints of Shinkiro art that big, let alone a SNK mini museum in my house!

Anyone hear from BlackaneseNiNjA lately? I feel like he was crazy active and now he’s dropped off a cliff. Hasn’t been on in quite a while. Hopefully Covidz didn’t catch up to him.

On topic though, this is a top tier setup fully dedicated to the Neo Geo and its variants. Lots of love for the platform here. It’s really awesome to see.

Same - I haven't seen him around lately. I JUST caught this thread though - has a great, well maintained setup! I love seeing things nicely organized, where everything has its place. lol. ^_^

Thanks guys!

Sup Naika, regarding the infamous lingerie ad, I have both the original ad taken from a magazine (middle ad on the left) and a larger version that I requested a print for and then framed :buttrock:

The other posters are the original shop promotion posters or taken from magazines, except for the Fatal Fury Special Game Gear cover art poster by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto which is a print of the uncensored version of the art:

My God bro, what a cool ass setup. I really like how you chose to display the AES games. Im torn on how to display them too. The spines, especially on the english games are so cool and uniform to me, but that full japanese art begs to be facing forward.

I LOVE that Fatal Fury poster too, btw. How did you have that done/source the full art? I assume this was something you had done or personally did? Or was it just something you bought already in that state as a full poster?

Yo whats up Capitalistix; thanks I really appreciate it! The poster from the first mega drive fatal fury cover is the original promotional poster. The poster of the uncensored cover from the game gear release of fatal fury special is a print scanned from page 81 of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s art book: “Der Mond: The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion”

It took a while, but I finally will consider my little neo museum complete. I have the neo area bookended (pardon the pun) on both sides by all my SNK story mangas/novels/audio dramas on one side and the full run of neo geo freak magazine on the other:

Love the full set of Neo Freak magazines, dude. Your passion for the Neo shows through what you've got, no doubt.

Thanks for sharing a little piece of your life with us. The way you have things organized looks fantastic.

Are you fluent in Japanese? If so, what are your suggestions to attain fluency?

Thanks!

Yeah, regarding japanese my recommendation is the following:

While getting started and learning basic Japanese sentence structure, particles, and vocabulary, learn hiragana and katakana as soon as you can. You’ll want to break any dependence on english/romanji as soon as possible.

Once you have hiragana and katakana committed to memory, you’ll want to jump right into learning basic kanji and their fundamentals (stroke order, radicals, kunyomi, onyomi, etc). Focusing on kanji-radical association can go a long way towards breaking down more complex kanji into smaller pieces for easier memory association, comprehension, and retention.

As you are studying and expanding your vocabulary, always remember to also keep a focus on learning grammar rather than just solely trying to memorize new words. Taking the time to learn proper grammar will take you a long way once you encounter direct speech (gotta learn the rules of speech before you can break them or understand how they are being broken in common everyday speech).

As you do all of the above and reach a point where you are comfortable with the basics, immerse yourself as much as possible. Watch or read content that you are already familiar with, but remove all english subtitles, etc. Watching something in japanese that you have already first memorized in english will allow you to better isolate what you hear in japanese to better associate meaning and identify what is actually being said. When you are first getting started, watching or reading japanese content that you have never been exposed to will only have you hitting a wall, reaching for the dictionary every other word, or worse, not being able to catch anything that is being spoken due to the relative speed of common speech.

The steady reinforcement loop of learning grammar, expanding your vocabulary, and constant immersion will have you progressing in no time. Just stay constant and consistent with your studies and power through any points of frustration.

Finally, don’t be afraid to not know every little word that is being said at first. You may only catch the gist of what is spoken at first and that is ok. Keep studying and you’ll be able to pick up on more nuance as you strengthen your grasp on grammar and widen your vocabulary over time.
