I'm all about keeping things as original as possible. I'd rather have remnants of an original label than a fake one (or no label at all, fake is too tacky). I just got like 5 carts in the mail and 3 of them have labels that I'm going to take off.

I don't think I have any goo-gone, but do you have any household remedies that may preserve the bit of original label underneath?

Moved.

Naptha... lighter fluid. Same stuff as goo gone.
Alcohol or acetone works as well (I'm sure you have both. lol) Cut it with water.

Just soak the shell in water with some soap, no harm in washing it anyway. Rub off the label once it's saturated for a while then to take off the adhesive, you can either use an eraser or lighter fluid.

I put some goo gone on and let it soak for 5 minutes, shit comes right off after it's soaked there long enough.

I just soak label in alcohol and scrape away with my nail. Takes about 4 mins tops depending on how shitty the fake label was

I came across one game that had a US label over a Japanese under it in a bundle I got with my cabinet a little over a month ago. I was wondering why the label on my Aero Fighters 2 was kindle of rippling a bit fearing moisture. I poked at it slightly, noticed under it that there was another label in Japanese and I was able to read Sonic Wings 2 and thankfully the glue was so damn rotten it took just slow light pulling to break it free without harming (worse) what was under there.

Did SNK ever put stickers over stickers like that or was something goofing around? Would it be even possible to pull something like that apart if luck wasn't there where it deteriorated to where you could get away with it like I did?

I've seen it on early AES carts (Nam 1975, cyberlip) but haven't seen it personally on MVS before. Really cool! :)

Heat and isopropyl alcohol, or lighter fluid, goo gone if it's a real bastard. Once in a while a soak in Oxyclean and then the heat/IPA treatment. Then scraping with some plastic scrapers, an old gift card, or nails.

There have been a lot of reports - eng over jpn and the other way around - MVS, AES, NGPC carts.
Most likely it was done to full fill the demand of one region if there wasn't as much in the other.

Hmm almost makes me wish I hadn't pitched the nasty top label but it really wasn't very nice and was barely hanging in there by a few points and that's it. I know it's my word versus anyone creatively thinking I'm lying, but that's how it was so either it's legit or someone was getting cute picking up a sticker in the day and dropping it over a Japanese one for whatever reason. I'd like to think you're probably right that aero fighters 2 was hot stuff back when it popped up and they re-stickered some sonic wings labels by burying them since the chipset/boards are the same. I have a very vague recollection of owning a NGPC game back in the day when it was living that had a couple stickers one one of my carts one laid over the other, but again can't confirm it nor prove it.

I personally remove fake cheesy lables off my carts with hot water, then clean of the residue with WD40

WD40 works great for getting rid of the sticker residue too. Just be sure to clean the stuff off when you're done.

So I know that the neo store sells label paper, how would you know how to reprint the labels at the correct size? I contributed a bit to HardMvs back in the day.
