Sonic 3
-saw it with some friends a couple of days ago and they enjoyed it. Granted we all are up in the 90s and during the Genesis/SNES wars so it is literally a love letter to that era so 98% of the jaded mofos here would like/love it.

-Definitely in my top 3 for the year, had a blast with it from start to finish. I know most will point to the humor as being a big negative for this but I enjoyed all of the jokes, Jim Carrey again great casting.
Red One hilariously took some of what Violent Night brought forth and did it better, Red One literally set up a lot of interesting stuff that will never get wrapped up.
Out of the list of writers one of the people who worked on the rewrites is the daughter of one of the writers from the original trilogy so that stuck out to me and might be why the pitfalls you mentioned were avoided, not sure if Kenji Kamiyama had any input in the writers room as this movie...
It was ok, it is the best comic book movie Brandon has been in not named Scott Pilgrim. Also has a random appearance by Kurt Angel.
