Template:GameInfobox Mahjong Kyōretsuden: Nishi Nihon-hen (麻雀狂列伝 -西日本編-, Mahjong Enthusiast: West Japan Edition) is a mahjong simulator released in 1990 for the Neo Geo as a launch title in Japan only and later ported in 1994 for the Neo Geo CD. It supports the Neo Geo Mahjong controller, which was originally made specifically for this game, and it also allows the use of memory cards to transfer saves between the MVS and AES versions of the game.

Overview

In this game players follow the story of a common salaryman and mahjong enthusiast who is searching for his brother. At the beginning of the game players can customize the look of the main character by choosing preset types of hair, eyes, nose, mouth and facial hair. The game is divided into story scenes, where the player visits various mahjong parlors and challenges other characters, and the game scenes, where the main gameplay occurs.

In the MVS version of the game the story scenes are timed, forcing the player to insert more credits in order to keep watching the scenes; this requirement was obviously removed in the home console versions of the game.
