My nerd impulses tell me Akihabara.

/me waits for Tsuka, Beelzebubble, NeoBomberman, or RBJake. (they'll clue you in.)

Yeah, definitely akihabara. Club Sega and many others there.

Man, I really want to go back someday :oh_no:

Akihabara--lots of stores to go to:

G-Front
Try
Mak Japan
Super Potato

...and many more once you're there.

You can get there via the subway. I'm not sure as it's been 6 years since I was there but I believe it's the Yamanote line.

Quoted with added links. G-Front, Try, and Mak Japan (my personal fave) are arcade motherboard shops. Super Potato, as you can see from Bobak's photos/posts, is a treasure-trove of used games, especially the older/obscure stuff.

In addition to their motherboard shop, Try also operates a multi-floor game center called Try Amusement Tower. Click the Try link above -- the map shows the 'Tower marked just south of the two T-ZONE buildings. There's a decent selection of NEO titles there, plus an entire floor of older games.

Next door to Try Amusement Tower, you'll find J-GAME {map} (see tsukaesugi's thread for an explanation of what a great game center this is for NEO enthusiasts).

For an explanation of how to find most of these shops, please see post #17 in this thread -- please ignore my directions to G-Front, however: some time later in 2004, they moved out of their old building and into one at the end of the main thoroughfare (see their website for a photo and address info).

TRADER!

Many treasures there.

Was just there a few days ago, very little worth buying at the moment, I didn't even come away with more than a Saturn game out of both stores. But nominally they're good, yes.

The best places to buy Neo games are Trader AND! MEDIA LAND.
Go to the 6th floor of Media Land, they changed it a couple of months ago.
Sofmap 3 around the corner of Trader 2 is also nice on the 3rd floor.
Sofmap 5 down the main street also had a nice collection of games.
Best arcade for neo games is probably the HEY! next to Club SEGA.

Thanks guys.. I went out there today (before I saw all the replies) and had a great time. stopped in at club sega.. the Taito arcade across the street, a few manga stores, and few toy stores, and a few other places of interest. I will def be going back there in the coming days/weeks. Did NOT see super potato.. that would have been the icing on the cake. In fact, Im tempted to go back tomorrow just to see that place. trainfare is less than $5 for me roundtrip, and about a 10 minute ride so its really no trouble at all getting there. I live about 50 yards from Koiwa station, and getting to Akihabara was a breeze. thanks so much for all the info!

Out of topicbut since i m hungry, if you want a realy good cake, you ll find some in the ikebukuro station at the same level as the trains transit area (there is a stair leading to a big space full of cake and fruit sellers). My favourite is "La ronde des fruits" real, real great stuff, plus you ll see the famous overpriced melons :) Trust me, you find cakes a good as french ones there.

Damned i m hungry; dammit >.<

Too bad you didn t take a Railpass (i suppose so since you paid the yamanotesen), you could have traveled to other places by shinkansen. Near kyoto, I love Nara's temple complex with the deers walking with you along the stone lamps road.... nice memories

For neo or other stuff, just sniff around the second hand shops, you can have some really great deals :)

Ho and if you like coasters, go to Fujikyu High Land and ride the Fujiyama, nice stuff :)
