I agree and disagree with this. I think VII was a great balance between rebooting the series for a new generation and setting up six hours of follow ups. My biggest complaint about VIII is that the story doesn’t move an inch. If Johnson had actually used JJs setup, this trilogy could’ve been amazing (in my open minded non-superfan opinion). There’s not enough runtime left for IX to reset AND resolve. That said, I’m betting that JJ can pull off a decent salvage job.

We have a bingo. VII on its own was perfectly fine and did what it needed to do, then VIII just shat on everything.

No one here likes anything, ya jabroni.
Well, I would assume that there must be some people who like the Neo Geo, given that's the name of this website.

I'm just going to come right out and say it...I'm a man child when it comes to SW.

Episode VIII was a giant fuck-you to SW fans from that faggot Rian Johnson. When he and that cunt Kathleen Kennedy doubled down insulting any life long SW fans that criticized that pile of shit...I made my decision, fuck Disney, fuck any new SW films moving forward, they're not getting a dime from me.

Do I think they'll notice or care? Nope...but I will.

Exactly. I am excommunicated and proud to be so.

What are the thoughts on the Mandalorian?

Looks badass, cant wait to see it. Don't know how soon I will though, I doubt I'll buy Disney+ to watch it.

In the last week or two I've caught up on Star Wars movies.

In retrospect the series are just a space opera about the battle between god and evil. It's eye candy that's fun to watch and fantasize about the unknown universe and space travel. It takes a different approach than Star Trek and in my opinion is more enjoyable overall.

That being said Lucas and the others who have worked on the episodes have all done a horrible job with character development. Look at how horribly the main protaganist / anataginst Luke and Anakin SkyWalker are directed and written for. So many characters and things going on in the series that you don't understand or aren't properly explained. I'm not sure I understood until recently that Palpatine was the dark emperor, if I did I didn't really care.

Darth Maul was the the biggest let down ever. He was in the trailers and made the talk show circuit. He looked like the most badass person to ever appear in a movie but only ended up with about two minutes of screentime.

I don't even care about the remasters or edits. i don't understand the hate for Jar Jar and I watched Solo on release and found it enjoyable. The Last Jedi was a turd though. Easily the worst movie of the entireseries. It had a couple of good scenes but failed in finally telling Luke's story.

On YouTube numerous people claim they still haven't wrapped up Rise of The Skywalker yet with only weeks left and they've done tons of re-shoots and are still arguing six different possible endings. I don't have much faith it will be a decent movie.

Disney must be hurting for money, look at how they're pumping out these CGI live action movies of the classics every few months. That was part of the magic of both, Disney used to only come out with movies ever 18 months to two years and sometimes didn't make home versions re-releases for decades. It was 15+ years between Return Of the Jedi and Phantom Menace and these movies weren't on TV every night.

I have some interest in watching The Mandalorian just to see Bill Burr be a Star Wars character. Seeing him attempt to hide his disdain for everything around him in that would be as fascinating as watching Noam Chomsky try to play Gordon Gekko in a remake of the movie Wall Street.

So, I bought a TLJ Blu-ray because it was in the thrift store. I chucked it in the cabinet, not sure I'll ever actually want to watch it again, but you got me Star Wars.

So, we are two weeks out on wrapping up this clusterfuck and it actually seems like the promo is a bit lighter on this one. I know projections are down. Has Disney realized that people are worn down on the barrage? Are we going to subvert expectations on box office success?

Besides the Mandalorian what is the next property to come out? Ewan's Obi-Wan TV show? Episode 10? Artoo and Threepio buddy comedy spinoff? I know the one Boba Fett standalone was already shelved. We were promised new Star Wars every year for eternity, has that idea already fizzled?

I thought about starting a new thread for this, but why cause clutter. And for all I know it may have been discussed in this tl;dr thread, so here it goes.

Rey is Luke's daughter. 100%, no doubt about it.

Discuss?

They fucked themselves by releasing a particularly bad episode 8. 7 was horrid but 8 was almost nothing. Almost because Luke brushing off the onslaught was brilliant if only in the name of iconography.
So who really cares about the fate of anything now we're at 9?

By far the best thing about this latest trilogy is Kylo Ren and how Adam Driver embodies him. In fact I would go as far as to say that he is the best thing to happen to Star Wars since the first three films. No contest.

And yeah Luke is just too good. A lot more interesting as an older man than Han Solo ended up being.

That's about it though. Everything about these newer films is shit. All the new kids on the block are atrocious, performance and representation closer to Pirates of the Carribean and Harry Potter than SW.
Gah.
JJ Abrams go fuck yourself.

What spoiler? Im not talking about the upcoming movie at all, but rather the obvious telegraphing that Rey is Skywalker DNA through and through in the last two movies.

I don't get that from Adam Driver at *all*. If anything his portrayal of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is a hamfisted throwback to how whiny Mark Hamill and Hayden Christiansen played their early parts. I guess if you look at it that way it's 'cool', but yeah no. Driver was the worst possible choice for a Star Wars character since Laura Dern as 'Shows-Up-In-This-Movie-For-No-Reason Purple Hair Lady.' His constant milk-voice, the idiotic mask that even Snoke pokes fun at, and his near constant pout is hilariously bad. Kylo Ren is about as intimidating as Garindan.

I watched Last Jedi again yesterday and realized I dislike it more than I initially thought I did. I ended up just FFWDing through all of the Canto Bite scenes because they were so fucking useless. Finn and Rose are so unabashedly useless to the story it's not even funny. You could easily edit out any of their scenes in both Force Awakens and Last Jedi and the plot still holds up (considering what we got).

Unless you got this from the script, I don't see it at all.

Ohhh I thought you had seen that from a leak.

I think Driver / Ren is fantastic. He’s a spoiled brat. I think him being a whiny bitch is the whole point. That’s like complaining that Geoffrey is an annoying brat.
