We have our Governor

Ending speculation that stretches back to the show's October 2010 premiere, AMC has announced that veteran English actor David Morrissey will play The Governor in the third season of "The Walking Dead."

The ruthless dictator of Woodbury, Georgia, The Governor has emerged as a fan-favorite villain of the comic series, leading many fans to wonder when the character might appear in the television adaptation, and who would play him. Early discussion centered on actor Michael Booker, whose racist meth addict Merle Dixon disappeared early in Season 1. But earlier this month, horror legend Tom Savini sparked a new round of rumors when he said Oscar nominee John Hawkes ("Deadwood," "Winter's Bone") was being pursued for the role; Hawkes' publicist quickly denied the claim.

The BAFTA-nominated Morrissey, who's probably best known to American audiences for his role in the "Doctor Who" episode "The Next Doctor," has starred in such films as "Nowhere Boy" and "The Other Boleyn Girl" and in such TV series as "State of Play," "Blackpool" and "Red Riding."

Production begins this spring in Atlanta on the 16-episode third season of "The Walking Dead." The second season continues Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC

No idea who that guy is, but I'm excited that the governor is going to be in the TV series. That guy is so fucking insane. One of my favorite villains of all time. I hope he does half of the stuff he did in the comic.

I enjoyed the past two episodes. They're fleshing out Glen and Maggie much better than they did in the comic book at the same stage of the story. Lori seems like an even greater harpy, creating tension between the male leads. Andrea is being rewritten as a nice foil to Lori as well.

The only things that continue to disappoint are Kirkman's inevitable illogical conflicts. Does Rick really need to assert his manhood and try to pick a fight in the middle of an unscouted fenced off area? Why do the characters always seem to be clueless that walkers may be anywhere, at any place or time?

This season is holding up, but it would have been immensely better with Darabont at the helm.

I am convinced that the new writing team is from the realm of professional wrestling.

The Dialog, story, buildup, action sequences and major themes. They just remind me of professional wrestling.

especially since they just killed one a minute ago. plus some fresh-ish looking bodies nearby.

Was T-Bone even in the show last night?

A character that completely outlived his usefulness to the plot when Merle left.

They've done absolutely nothing with him and there's no reason for him to even be around. I keep havnig to be reminded that he's present. He may as be one of the farm residents, just a placeholder for a gruesome death later.

The writers just didn't know what to do with him after they stopped tackling the issue of his guilt over dropping the keys and leaving Merle behind.

I enjoyed last night's episode, but I hate how there's no one to tell the pro-suicide advocate Andrea that people don't rationally decide to kill themselves and that's why her 'make your own choices' philosophy is bullshit. Andrea and the girl aren't people making emotionially stable choices. They're not in a proper frame of mind, so their decision shouldn't simply be accepted. Even the doctor at the CDC mostly lost hope after his wife/girlfriend died to the virus. He was very cold and logical about it and even he was off his chair.

I had no problem with the Rick/Shane fight because after all the noise they were making and the arguing they were doing, they probably figured that if any walkers were going to show up, it would have been well before the first punch was thrown during the bitching phase.

I really don't need another character on this show. They barely know what to do with most of the supporting cast as it is. I hope they're just building padding for some huge season end zombie massacre by bringing the injured Maggie schoolmate back with them.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode.

You've never read the comic, have you? Pretty much everyone gets killed off or mutilated.

we've already discussed the difference between the comic and show. writing for the show is very different from the comic and thats what we are talking about. most people that have read the comic have given up on it being an accurate translation of the comic. If it was going for pure accuracy, we would be off the farm already and there would be some more bodies already disposed of.

In television, that is what they call jumping the shark....

You never jump the shark until at least the fifth season.

Episode was ok. The fight needed to happen. You don't find out some guy fucked your wife after telling her you're dead, and not try to beat the shit out of him.

So I got bored and read the synopsis of the comic book series.

Sounds like The Postman+Zombies if you ask me.

They seem to be doing a better job of making some meaningful scenes without pounding you over the head with dialog lately.

During the drive to and from the drop spot for the kid, Shane notices what looks like a walker in the field, I liked how there was no reaction, no need to tell Rick (who appears not to have noticed it at all), of no more importance than if you saw a deer on the side of the road. I thought it seemed to do a good job of just finding a simple way to show how there are more important things going on, bigger decisions, than worrying about walkers day in and day out. Walkers are finally the new reality not just an abnormality.

At least that's what I got out of it.

What I am getting from this show now is how much Taiso loves Dead Island, and how he stopped caring about other things in life because it.

What the story with their prisoner? My brother tells me theres a dark side to him....and in the episode there was an allusion to him being a possible rapist. I hope he gets killed off.
