do you still have any respect left for capcom???
i sure has hell don't !!!! the news of their recent ports of marvel vs capcom 2 for ps2 and xbox and ports of resi 2 + 3 DC versions have really dissapointed me. With news they are taking a hiatus from the 2-D genre to concentrate on 'new projects' (i.e. converting 5 year old games to new systems) has really been the fuck-over from capcom. so do you ahve any respect left for capcom??? if so, i would like to know why.

Nope, theyre focusing on their 3d crap like Devil May Cry and Onimusha.

I mean the last Street Fighter made was 3rd Strike... And that was back in what '99??

EX 3 doesn't count

I always hated them ever since they made SF: Alpha 3. That game sucked. I dont know why everyone said that game rocked.

I think it was because of the announcer, new characters, and new -isms, that's about it.

I suppose giving up 2D for a while is a bad thing, but Onimusha, Devil May Cry and the RE series are some of Capcoms best games. If they make a Devil May Cry 2 or another intallment in Onimusha or RE, I'll definitely support them. Besides as much as I like Street Fighter in 2D. SFEX3 was very impressive and I prefer the SNK 2D fighters. In other words as long as Capcom is making great games I'll support them, that is all.

I respect Capcom to the upmost.
I think their decision to take a break from the 2D games for awhile might give them time to come up with new ideas for their next Street Fighter installment or maybe another vs. game or maybe another new original game altogether.
Right now though I'm looking forward to Devil May Cry 2.
I already have the import of Onimusha 2 and it kicks ass!!! Definitely worth a look if you're interested in getting it.

10in2010 you have alot of anger, brother. Capcom is alright. They do need to get back on the ball with their 2D series but I'm sure that when they come out with Street Fighter 1V everything will be ok. I'm glad that they are working on DMC2 though because you must admit, DMC was one of the best action games ever.

Obviously Capcom made up a excuse to stop making 2D fighters since SNK murdered them with all the titles they shot out.

Snk murdering Capcom yeah right. I respect capcom mostly all there games rocked even the 3d ones. If they want to slowdown on them let them do it, I mean between them and snk there where too many 2d fighters out at one time and it was hard to master one when a month later you got another one coming out. But I never take the time out to master any snk game because I no nobody who plays them, they have no spot in any of the arcades where I live, And capcom is the best in 2d fighters imo.

There were a variety of fighting games that SNK made. Last Blade, KOF, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Samurai Showdown. Only reason SNK probably ment to do that was so people have a fighter to pick from which they can learn. Everyone likes a variety. In my opinion I do believe that SNK slaughtered them in the 2D fighter area, that is.

Well as in making money Capcom mops the floor with SNK.

SFEX3 Plus was one of the most blister enducing games I have ever played. Not very fun at all.

If they make a SF 4 (or whatever) they need to put alot of work into it, they have been churning out VS games for a long time, they have to be making SOMETHING in their spare time.

If Last Blade 2 was ported to PS2, GC, and Xbox maybe SNK would get a good fighter fan base for the future....

I think capcom waiting with there 2d fighters is good, because people will be waiting to see what will they do next. street fighter 4 on one of the new systems would be great and the wait will be worth it. In the mean time Ill be playing there 3d games another good aspect to capcom.

Capcom not making another 2D fighter would be ludicrous. I mean there is such a HUGE following of Street Fighter and 2D fighters alike all over the world.

Capcom makes GREAT game IMO, and as such I'll support them. I mean they've been trying to make money by porting games to other systems and you're mad at them? How many people do you know own a legal copy of MvC2? Not many. And that game is still making decent change in Arcades. Hence the XBox/PS2 versions should sell well. Why else would they make a port of the game?

And when the time is right, I'm sure we'll get a bunch of new games. And FYI, the last 2D fighter they made was Capcom vs. SNK 2. A great fighter IMO and I think it was done in 2001.

Peace

Well, I can tell ya ONE person that has a legal copy for the DC... ME!! NYAHA!!

I guess I should've said Vs. fighters don't count either.

Whoo a vs. game, that's all Capcom has been doing lately.

I'm talking about something pure 2d Capcom.

Just Capcom to the core, and that is 3rd strike.

my friend has the ps2 version of capcom vs snk2, and i have the jap DC import. the game is so shallow in 1 player mode, it has no soul !!!
and i also own a legit copy of marvel vs capcom 2. it's not that difficult to find. releasing a game becuase it's 'rare' on another format just dosen't cut it with me. and those resident evil ports are disgusting. you can buy resident evil 2 on the Playstation , N64, Dreamcast and PC . and resident evil 3 on all the above bar the N64, for next to nothing.i bought my psx copy of resident evil 2 back in '98. so the only excuse capcom have for those is to milk the cash cow.

You obviously don't know how a business runs.
Think about it.
The Resident Evil series was exclusive to the Playstation. Capcom had to know that people didn't own playstations so what did they do? They ported it over to the Dreamcast,N64, and PC. You want to know why? Because they can get more of a fanbase and also more profit from it.
And the recent decision to make the series exclusive to the Gamecube makes it even better for people that are beginners to the series.
I really don't see how there milking the series when the only thing they're doing is making a game available to everyone on there specific systems they own.

give me the name of one other big company that ports the same game to every format imaginable just so someone with a specific system can own it. EXAMPLE - by that logic ill think i'll write to playmore and ask them for a port of King Of Fighters '98 for the X-box cus i don't own a neo geo or a dreamcast.

I still have respect for Capcom; not as much as I used to, but I still respect them nonetheless.

Don't mind the break in 2d games. It's not like Capcom's the only company that makes 2d fighters; though I'd be more interested in a new Vampire title than SF IV.

I prefer Vampire over SF and considering how long each Vampire title took to come out, waiting another 2d fighter from Capcom period is nothing for me to freak out about.

You don't understand what I mean.
What I was saying was that they ported the games to other systems so that it could be available for everyone.

All of you Capcom bashers should step off. They have probably the greatest heritage when it comes to all-out classics in the arcade. If you hate them for making 3D games these days, well, that's what they're doing to pay the bills dammit. SNK tried living off 2D dope alone, and now they're dead. If making that shit keeps Capcom in business, fine. I'll patiently wait until they come back to 2D fighting after their self-imposed hiatus. The spine card from CvS2 for Dreamcast said "2D Forever." They'll be back. Perhaps this break will let them recharge their batteries, after all, they DID make 2D fighting games for more than a decade, non-stop.
Respect IS due.

Capcom has no orignality or creativity. They did at one point when they created SF, RE or Megaman. Now they just milk the ideas they have right now. People got tired of them while new people get into it.

You talk about milking ideas huh
look at the King of Fighters series
Now thats one series thats still been going on even though it should've ended back in 97.
