Kof94-2k1 are the same game. All you do is fight to win a tournament. YOU SAY CAPCOM IS ALL FOR MONEY THINK AGAIN MAN.
I can't even get Kof 2k1 cus it is like 200 dollars yet I know I can always count on paying 50 for a new street fighter game =P man.. Rain, Spinmaster, and Neocell are the only ones who respect capcom for what they are for and worth. You are just plain crap to sit here and say capcom is all for the money when you pay 400 dollars for a snk home cart..</strong><hr></blockquote>
You're being a little unfair by stating that KOF '94-'01 are the same game. In each installment, the game has either had new characters added, more game play options or both.
You cannot tell me that KOF '94 plays like '95, considering that you couldn't Team Edit or Max Counter in '94.
You cannot say that KOF '95 plays like '96, considering that dodges were replaced with rolls, and multi-level jumping was added with it... not to mention the new characters.
You cannot say that KOF '96 plays like '97, considering that now you get the option to use either "Advanced" or "Extra" mode, bringing back some classic KOF gameplay with more modern ideas. Did I mention new characters?
You cannot say that KOF '97 plays like '98... "mood sensitive" characters that change day by day affected aspects of the game. Lots of returning characters from previous titles.
And I won't go into detail about KOF '98 to '99... but teams went from 3-4 players! Strikers were introduced, as well as Counter and Armor modes... not to mention new characters.
Although the concept stayed the same (as it does with all fighters)... FIGHT TO WIN... the games ALL play differently. However, I do recall Capcom at one time going from SFII to SFIICE, when all they did is change the colors of some backrounds and made four unusable characters selectable. THAT is the most minor of upgrades of all fighters to this day, and didn't need a whole new machine because of it.
BTW... the price of making a cartridge has ALWAYS been expensive. Hence why SNK games for the Neo Geo Home Cart are high... you can complain about having your ports of KOF2K not available for the next-gen systems until two years later, but that's mainly because the company wasn't focused on doing much licensing back then. Saving money to spend $275 for a new Neo Cart on release doesn't make you any different than the person who spends $50+ for every Capcom release for their Dreamcast, X-Box, Gamecube, PS2, etc...
Regardless, each company is getting their money. Whether or not you think it's worth it to support the company, due to their business practices, is your own personal decision. If you want the newest KOF (or any game for the Neo Geo), you HAVE to get an MVS or Home Cart and spend the dough. Considering that most gamers buy 1-2 games a month for their next-gen system(at $30-$50 a pop) and the Neo Geo gets barely over 5-6 released games a year, the numbers DO balance out.
Sengoku 3
Metal Slug 4
Riot Of The Dragon
KOF 2001
... and coming soon: KOF 2002, SNK vs. Capcom
Up to 6 games at about $275 each vs 20-24 games at $50 a piece. You do the math...
