Well, I've put a couple hours into the game since I got home from work.
So far, I like it!
The controls take a little getting used to, but I was able to adjust my aiming style without changing the default sensitivity. In the first couple of games I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, but I'm getting better.
The infantry v infantry combat is very fast paced. I haven't used the default pistol much, but the assault rifle is pretty accurate firing full auto up to medium range. The guy with the better aim and grenade skills generally always comes out on top.
I played on one server that was straight up dogfighting with aircraft only, and it was fun in a Crimson Skies kind of way. Manuevering is very important if you want to survive very long. I had a tough time chasing an enemy and swapping between swarmers/chaff and avoiding enemy fire all at the same time.
When I tried flying aircraft on a regular TDM (team death match) map, I never lived more than a minute due to all the turret fire coming up from the ground. You've got flak and homing missile turrets to worry about, not to mention infantry with rocket launchers.. they track you also.
The game search menu is buggy as hell for me, it always lists 700 player created games and almost never shows me any of the official Sony dedicated servers. Sometimes I have to refresh the game list 10 or 20 times to get them to show up. ALso, the filter doesn't allow me to turn off non-ranked games, which is annoying.
It's the best multiplayer experience on PS3 right now, that's for sure.
