Mine are:

1. Shotgun and Super Grenade
2. ElephantSlug
3. Marco and Fio
4. Probably the (I think) 4th mission from MS2, the level that is a city and looks like Chinatown. I'm pretty sure this is the stage that becomes the monster-infested lab towards the end.
5. Metal Slug 2, but they all rawk.

Oh and by the way, where can I find the OstrichSlug in MS3?

Ostrich is in Stage 3. Wait for a piece of pipe to drop into the water early into the stage and go into it.

Metal Slug 2??? <IMG SRC="smilies/spock.gif" border="0"> I'm an owner of MS2 and I gotta say that you've gotta be crazy to think it's the best slug game. Do you like having enough time to go get a snack while the animations slow down?!?! Metal Slug X is WAAAAAY better. The slowdown in 2 is so bad that it makes the game less fun.

I thought is this guy for real....i mean everyone knows slug 3 is tops....right?....i switched on metal slug 1 last night.....played it through.....compared to the rest...it has lesser graphics..shorter levels.....putrid bosses.....but you know what..it has one of the most unique atmospheres of any videogame...the music has a lot to do with it....plus the ww2 europe setting.

fave boss: level 1 metal slug 3
weapon: laser level 5 slug2

worst slug: Metal X, took the superior colouring of slug 2, and remixed it with inappropraie greens and purples...see level 2 on metal x.And what the fuck are those little dogs supposed to be about......

So glad I picked it up on MVS to replace my Saturn version that I sold. Seems more fun, but I can't put my finger on why... <IMG SRC="smilies/spock.gif" border="0">

Metal Slug (the original) is the best!
Metal Slug 2 was cool until the alien shit heads appeared!
Metal Slug 2 definitely has the best artwork!

5) Probably Metal Slug X. I like the more militaristic feel in comparison with MS3. Don't get me wrong I love MS3 but I feel it leans a bit too far into the twilight zone with its emphasis on aliens/bugs/man-eating plants,etc. I know bitch,bitch,bitch.

Metal Slug 3 OWNS. Some might dig the more militaristic feel of the other games, but I dig all the zombies, ice monsters, aliens and other assorted weirdies. Variety is the spice of life, you can't just cap buck privates all day long. Throw in the branching paths and the BEST music in the series, and you've got a clear winner.

I really like all parts, the differences for me are very small, with MS3 as the big hit in terms of gfx, diversity and length.
