I play my homecarts very often, which leads to inserting and re-inserting carts quite a bit. After a while, my carts have insertion marks along the base of the cart where it rubs against the neo.Even if you are very careful, through use, I find this cannot be avoided. Do you guys have the same problem? Whats your view on it?

You are right. There is no way to avoid those marks. It is one of the unfortunate side effects of the home system. On the other hand, it is a good way to judge whether a game sold as new is really that.

WTF

sorry got carried away.

If you use something it will show wear.

Maybe you guys should bury your pretty aes carts in the garden, about 6 foot deep, that way they will never get damaged. Dig them up once a year :)

I've recieved supposedly new carts that had those marks... (from testing?). Regardless, its annoying -its just a part of the nature of the beast.

Actually I don't care :)
If my homecarts have marks...so what? I always put them back in the case after playing and that's it. If they get some marks from whatever I make no big deal out of it.
As long as they function properly and as long as I can enjoy the game I don't mind if my carts are in rough or mint condition. :)

Yeah, I think they (shops) tested homecarts randomly since it's worth much more than CD games.

and, sometimes mint used cart are of better condition than new cart

"Insertion marks"?

Oh you mean love marks? Those just mean somebody actually enjoyed playing their game.

I don't care about marks on a game unless it looks like someone took a razor blade and ran it across the cart. Yuck!

Now I see why people play on emus! Not to ruin the carts!

I opened my eyes to see the light...

Most brand new Cart from shop have insertion mark, they tended to put the cart into a system for display.....I gotten alot of brand new cart from shop and most have been on demo at least a couple of times, sometime, it is the buyer who asked to tested the cart and don't buy....

It's possible to avoid those mark by puting 2 adhesive tape on the system (you know, where you put the cart)

sorry, my english is poor, I dunno how to explain but if someone speak french:

"en mettant du ruban adhsesif sur les deux clapets tout le long de manière à les recouvrir completement. c'est fastidieux mais ca marche..." :D

Ok, garou_d has an answer, but in french, so i'll try to translate even if my english is poor too :)

"put adhesive tape on the two plastics part that close the cartridge port. It's boring, but that's the only way to prevent your cartridges from those "love marks"!"

Anyway, i agree whith most of the guys in here: these marks are the proof of your gaming addiction, even if u're a collector you need to play neo games, and to play it again, and again, and again...

See ya neo fans!

Here is what I used to do to avoid them:

Once a month(usually on a very boring Sunday morning) I would take a plastic refinisher such as STP, or armor all, and apply it to the surface of the cart to reduce the friction from sliding the cart in and out. This proved to greatly reduce the marks, and made the carts look really nice too. Hope this helps someone

Aren't you the guy who is always talking about handling your carts, fingerprints, gloves and whatever Ukyo? Man, you got it baaaaaaaaaad! :D

I'm sure you could throw together some homemade adapter type thingy that actually raises the connectors above the system's case, kind of like a Phantom-1 (I'm not really sure how it works though). I assume the scratching is from rubbing the cart against the case/inside when you insert/remove the games, raising the slot above the problem area would solve this.

You could also invest in some foam adhesive, that would probably work.

You could also buy two of every cart, that would definately work.

You could also see a therapist, because obsessive collector's disorder is NOT fun. Take it from me, I've been clean for two years now. :D

You joke about owning two of every cart, but for those of us who are gamers and collectors and are obsessive it's a real option, unfortunately. For games I really love I often get two copies. One to play, one to have on my shelf. I know it's stupid but I just can't help myself... I just obsess over the condition of my games. I think it's a drive to strive for perfection that mutated into some sick disease :) .

Yeah, I do have it pretty bad, but no that wasnt me with the rubber gloves. Thank god. I dont really mind the cart marks too much as long as everything else is minty, which it is. :) (At least thats what I try to tell myself)"You dont mind those cart marks Matt, You can play your games all you want without worry...it doesnt matter that you like to play your MOTW cart on a regular basis. Thats it, just slam the fucker in!") I was just wondering what everyone else thought...some times I just need to hear from you guys that you have the same problem I NEED SUPPORT, TELL ME I SHOUDLNT WORRY ABOUT CART MARKS! SUPPORT ME! J/K (Are you really kidding Matt?)

We've spoken about this in person but I'd just like to add that I don't think it's a big deal unless you are advertising a cart as new.

I think that having 2 of everything would be best, but I can't afford that. ;)

a bit annoying i guess. my KOF2K from cart-mart was listed as new, still had some scuffs on it.

my KOF2K1 cart from NCSX also had a insertion mark on it. It came off though...guess they had to test it first?

I figure: If I was selling $300 carts, I'm going to test them myself to make doubly sure its working when it leaves my place.
