I think its RGB, its also advertised on the old Neo Flyers that you can hook up to "Special Monitors" LOL for pure Arcade feeling. Nowadays every cheap TV here in Europe supports it.
I think Neo Geo naturally supports AV,RGB directly if i read the pinout correct.

I'm not sure about the cart systems, but the neogeocd has the same output as the sega genesis.. AV, audio and RGB on an 8 pin din plug.
