Anyone like to hook their console to their VCRs and put themselves on tape beating their fave games once in a while? If so what games have you done it with?

>Ninja gaiden 2 and 3
>Final Fantasy III (Famicom, in Japanese last portion of the game)
>Final Fantasy V (SFC in Japanese, didn't beat it though, taped my favorite portions throughout the game, then I got pwned by Neo Exdeath. Just having one of Final Fantasy's most intense last battles on tape was enough.)
>Rockman and Forte (SFC)
>Final Fantasy VII and VIII's final battles
>Ikari III (NES)
>Bionic Commando

I videotaped a few games of CVS once, to see what I needed to do to improve (because I didn't have anyone that was good at it to tell me). But I never watched the tape.

Speaking of CvS, I also got a tape of me and my friends playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 tournament style. Too much Magneto! :buttrock:

The only time I've ever done such a stupid thing is me and my friend once taped a deathmatch game in Perfect Dark with the Slo-Mo effect turned on. We then captured the footage to a computer and played it back at normal speed so we looked like gods at the game getting nothing but headshots and 1-2 shot kills.

We were bored.

I used to record game endings and watch them after I beat a game (Back in the day of no-save games). I still have a rad-ass tape of me beating Ghouls N' Ghosts both laps without getting hit even once! Man, I would love to post it somewhere!

You call it stupid, yet your seems to be the most in depth.

For a college project, I made a tribute to video games movie about my inspirations. It's pretty cool. Got the title song of Zone of the Ender 2 and spliced some video together in Adobe Premiere. If anyone has a place I can upload it, I'd let you all see it.

I used to do that all the time back when I was a lad.
Mostly with the Sega CD games but did it with NES and SNES as well.
I recorded all of the endings on SF2 SNES
Sonic (even caught a cool glitch that I couldnt reproduce)
Super Mario
Mario World
Dragons Lair
Revenge of the Ninja
Time Gal
Road Avenger
Afterburner
and the list would go on...
I was uber geek on video games.

I imagine you could substitute the words 'game playing' for 'having sex' and this would make sense.

I'm not sure which conversation would actually be more socially acceptable though.

I once made a tape of Final Fantasy VII, the import version. The hype was in full effect, and all my friends at work wanted to see what the gameplay was like. Nobody else we knew was into importing consoles and games before they were available here. Even than, I was such a nerd.

I also made a tape of my elite drifting skills in Tokyo Highway Battle for PSX, to impress the same friends.

I use to do this for a lot of NES games. It was usually games I was really good at. SMB3 is the only one that comes to memory and that was just to prove to friends how fast I could beat it (both whistles).

I used to tape intros of games on a tape...like for SMS, Jaguar, NES...and so on. That reminds me of good times and time it took. I think I shall add to the tape and put some Neo games on it. :D

A friend of mine has some of our sessions with us playing Chaos, SSII, SSIV, KoF 98, KoF 96, and MOTW. Even got some Grand Master Challenge footage.

I have recorded several MOTW movies on my PC with a friend of mine. We'd go back to viewing them to see how we could improve our game.

I also remember taping Last Resort once, Super Spy, b/c at the time, I liked the final boss music, and wanted to show my bro I did beat it. Metroid, Castlevania 2 for NES... wow this is all coming back to me.

I guess I've recored quite a bit in my day after all.

Mostly though I record good videogame music, mostly Neo Geo stuff of course.

Wow. That's cool.

Changing the course of video speed to offer the illusion of l337ness.

Two times:

1. Once when playing NBA Live '95 (I believe) on SNES--there was a "shove" move you could do at any time, well, the computer drilled me at half court and my player slid on his butt ALL THE WAY TO THE BASELINE! I nearly died laughing so I taped it thinking that my friends would get a kick out of it--they didn't, they were just confused.

2. I spent an hour or two making an aerial view of my house (basketball hoop, fence, porch, etc. included) on Mario Paint--there was either no way to save it or I didn't have any space to save it (I'm not sure which one) so I just let the SNES run for a few minutes while I taped it.

me and my friend were goofing off with the video camera and one of my buddie's was playing evil zone on the psx and sucking. does that count as taping it? i mean the idea of taping yourself playing is lame, i'd much rather have a tape of porn i copped off of skinemax or something.

The only thing close to that is cheating at the three-card-monte mini-game in Suikoden.

At the very begining of the game, right after you are able leave town for the first time (and leveled up enough to not get killed by random monsters) go to one of the nearby towns, there will be an old lady who wants to do the minigame thing (I think she's a party charater later in the game (then again, it's Suikoden, where just about EVERYONE could be a party character at some point)). It's three-card-monte and the thing is: it shows the cards being moved around (just very fast). That's where the VCR comes in. You have everything set up before hand, get the game started, hit record, let the mini-game do it's thing, stop and rewind the tape, watch the game in slow-motion, and pick out that winning card.

Wash-rinse-repeat for a workable infinite-money trick.

When I worked for gamestop, some of us used to record import games and show the tapes at the store for "reserves" of the US versions.

lol

or you could just use an emulator with save states. Looks nicer, requires less effort, and goes quicker.
