US -> JAP on a Neo AES without changing the BIOS?

I searched everywhere, including this forum, and the only info i could get was that the mod existed and that "some people" used to do it.

I opened my console and noticed a few interesting "bridges": NTSC1, PAL1 & PAL2 (i could re-open it to give you the revision of the board if needed... btw serial is 58xxx)

I found that when i short the PAL1 bridge, the console boots at 50hz. ...so USA -> EURO mod is an easy one! Unfortunately i didn't find the way to boot in Japan mode.

...so, is there a way to do a USA -> JAPAN mod? (without a debug or japan bios)?

No...not that I'm aware of. You'll need a BIOS chip. The NTSC and PAL stuff is for the video signal.

You're right: in most games you can choose the language.

But it has no effect on blood or other censored details (unless it's a cheat like in Samurai Shodown 2 where you can activate blood by selecting japan then back to english in the Options)

Most game have codes to activate blood, but others don't (Samurai Shodown 3 cartridge for example), that's where a Japanese Neo can be useful.

just go ahead and "piggy back" the uni bios on to the bios chip.
purchase it from the neo store. all it requires is a few snips and solder.

easy as pie.

it comes with full instructions, and only like 20 bucks.

The systems region determines whether or not a game is censored.
