I personally prefer the slower, more strategic fighting games.
I'm not sure why this wasn't developed for the Neo Geo, considering it's much cheaper to produce ROM cartridge these days. I guess it's still expensive compared to Super Nintendo! But the frame rate on this game is very bad... :/
Weaponlord had aweful framerate, but the gameplay was fantastic.
That was in the 90s, so today I would expect something the speed of Endless Duel. I'm still on the fence with this one, the price ain't bad and it looks like it could be fun, but you never know till you play it yourself.
60 hours to go and not even 50% funded. don't know if this will make it.
Even Clayfighters had a higher frame rate.
I think one thing people keep forgetting is, this is an indie game developed for hardware thats almost 30yrs old. This is not a commercial SNK game, and its certainly not licensed by Nintendo. So stop comparing it other games of the time, in which developers had a much larger team, budget, and development support from Nintendo.
Also, upping the meg count in the game or using a larger ROM chip doesnt change the systems compute resources. Its not going to just magically run faster, and allow for more playable characters. The system still has the same limitations, characters still have to be designed, programmed, and balanced. And all that has to be weighted against how much money they have, plan to make, and the actual manufacturing costs of product.
Y'all act like Fatal Fury wasnt popular with its 3 character roster, or Art of Fighting wasnt slow as balls. And these are first party titles on a system twice as powerful.
I feel like everytime a new indie game comes out for retro systems, people try to judge it like its a AAA title. Just be glad where getting anything playable, and for all we know this is just a stepping stone for bigger and better things.
So why are they wasting money and resources trying to give it a cartridge release? I feel like the real merit of their project comes down to making a good game, especially when they boast the development team in such a way. If making it a cartridge retro service release slashes this much into the quality of the game that people would be playing in 2017, then maybe they should release the game digitally so that 30 year old hardware isn't limiting them.I think one thing people keep forgetting is, this is an indie game developed for hardware thats almost 30yrs old. No idea if they'll pull it out of the bag on the gameplay front, but that box art is truly awful. I think I actually preordered this and I have no idea why, I don't even have a SFC any more.
ftfy.I also bet that [any] Neo-Geo [game] made by ex-SNK would get the needed backing immediately.
