Unholy Night sounds like a porn title, specifically hentai and starring what looks like Mature and Mai.

I'm not sure why this wasn't developed for the Neo Geo, considering it's much cheaper to produce ROM cartridge these days. I guess it's still expensive compared to Super Nintendo! But the frame rate on this game is very bad... :/

Weaponlord had aweful framerate, but the gameplay was fantastic.

That was in the 90s, so today I would expect something the speed of Endless Duel. I'm still on the fence with this one, the price ain't bad and it looks like it could be fun, but you never know till you play it yourself.

Sales potential is way higher on the SNES.

Endless Duel is fantastic, WeaponLord too ambitious for its own good. In the end, fighters demand 60fps, especially on a 16-bit console, just like racing games -- otherwise everything else about them becomes a pain. Fun is equal to controls, not graphical abundance. Something that got forgotten today, in times of the omnipotent motion blur.

There are exceptions of course, like the Metal Slug series for example, but that's a different genre and the game's pace, details and controls are tailored around its frame rate. Still, that first stage waterfall is just too beautiful.

60 hours to go and not even 50% funded. don't know if this will make it.

I think it's safe to say that they're not going to make it. The email I got from the campaign recently makes it clear that they know that they're not going to make it, too.

If they relaunch, (which it sounded like they we're thinking about) I'll give it another go.

I would back it if they showed any improvement to the frame rate.

I think they just underwhelmed between the slow frame rate, but more so the tiny amount of variety in there. I believe 1991 SNES Street Fighter II had more characters, perhaps better animation, more backgrounds, more sfx, more music, more everything going for it. This thing is about as barebones as you can get and that's what's scaring people off of backing it. If I wasn't against tossing money at kickstarters(etc) I still wouldn't throw them anything seeing the finished product now.

i came into this with no expectation of a fast and furious fighter that can hang with todays standards. In the same way I didn't expect fucking Beggar Prince to be the next Final Fantasy. I think this project looks ambitious enough to support. It looks like a solid $50 cart that I will play around with for a few months as something cool and completely new on my SFC.

Jesus, so much bitching.

I get you argument and it's fair, but when I was thinking about it I was comparing it against other fighters on the system and it comes up short. I just think they could have gone up a RAM chip in size on the cart and put more into it for the asking price.

Well, it didn't make it. So I'm guessing the only remaining way to check out this game in cart form is to import via play-asia? Or is there another option out there?

I think one thing people keep forgetting is, this is an indie game developed for hardware thats almost 30yrs old. This is not a commercial SNK game, and its certainly not licensed by Nintendo. So stop comparing it other games of the time, in which developers had a much larger team, budget, and development support from Nintendo.

Also, upping the meg count in the game or using a larger ROM chip doesnt change the systems compute resources. Its not going to just magically run faster, and allow for more playable characters. The system still has the same limitations, characters still have to be designed, programmed, and balanced. And all that has to be weighted against how much money they have, plan to make, and the actual manufacturing costs of product.

Y'all act like Fatal Fury wasnt popular with its 3 character roster, or Art of Fighting wasnt slow as balls. And these are first party titles on a system twice as powerful.

I feel like everytime a new indie game comes out for retro systems, people try to judge it like its a AAA title. Just be glad where getting anything playable, and for all we know this is just a stepping stone for bigger and better things.

But more MEGS means more GAME, more GAME means more TESTICLES, and...

So why are they wasting money and resources trying to give it a cartridge release? I feel like the real merit of their project comes down to making a good game, especially when they boast the development team in such a way. If making it a cartridge retro service release slashes this much into the quality of the game that people would be playing in 2017, then maybe they should release the game digitally so that 30 year old hardware isn't limiting them.

What they should have done differently for this project specifically is chosen a more expansive platform to develop the game for and release it on. SFC cuts it short, clearly. I get what they want this release to be but most gamers don't want to play a shitty game just because it's on a fucking Super Nintendo cartridge.

Was there ever any discussion of gameplay systems and mechanics?

The only footage I ever saw was scrub level or combo exhibitions.

Not a fan of the artwork, but the foil box is certainly shiny.

These are valid questions... What do ex-SNK employees have to do with the SFC hardware? Why make something, that's technically doomed from the get-go? They should opt for a steam release instead. Rosenkreuzstilette would look terrible on a Super Famicom with low-res graphics and 30fps. I also bet, that a Neo-Geo Unholy Night made by ex-SNK would get the needed backing immediately.

No idea if they'll pull it out of the bag on the gameplay front, but that box art is truly awful. I think I actually preordered this and I have no idea why, I don't even have a SFC any more.
