UK/Euro Reversi Now the Rarest?!

Been off the boards for a while but i still follow the market closely, and i have come to the conclusion that Pocket Reversi may not be the rarest (or most uncommonly available) UK/Euro title on the Market. spock

There have been quite a few copies appearing over the last 6 months or so, ever since the 'Edge' issue. I am of the opinion that this may not be the rarest title, certainly there may be titles that are just as rare. I do understand that there may be more copies appearing because of the potential money to be made out of the game......

Does this justify a price rise in certain titles, or should Pocket Reversi prices be reassessed?

And what about Faselei!.... big drop in prices recently. Is this because of the influx of the cart only games? Not judging by the Pocket Reversi prices, which are still holding quite well.

It's like a bloody roller coaster out there at the moment!

Comments?

So which titles do you rate as rarer?
Reversi is no way near as rare as Edge said it was, but I think it is the 'rarest' of the pocket games...... well, complete anyway!

What about Nigeron Pa or Ghost Photo Studio, or CFC 2?

Well, i am honestly not exactly sure, but there are a few games that seem to come up very rarely (UK versions). Picture Puzzle (was this the last UK/Euro series game released?), which was also released by Success, and withdrawn, does not come around at all often.

Although there were a few around a while back, Evolution seems to have drawn a blank recently, and Neo 21 a rarely seen. I am just talking ebay now, so if they are still in some obscure shops somewhere (that actually does sell them!), then shoot me down on this. Dive Alert, Dynamite Sluggear, and Neo Baccarat seem to be scarce as well.

To be honest, the rarest game i have seen was not a UK Clamshell, but a US Clamshell one (they do exist). It was Puzzle Bobble Mini, and i am quite sure it had a US number on it (In the US it was known as Bust a Move). I let 'finnil' have it (because i am mad i guess make_fac ). I need to clarify this with him actually, can't quite remember.........

I am talking English language version games here, by the way.

That whole last batch of titles all 'leaked' out at the same time (roughly) The ones that had generated a bit of interest pre-release were the ones that most people took a chance on buying, like Evolution, Cotton, Cool Boarders, Dynamite Sluggaer. The boring sounding ones: Baccarat, Reversi, and Picture Puzzle, were less popular.

I think most of the people hassling the traders to get these games were asking for the good titles, which is why titles like Baccarat, Reversi, and Picture Puzzle exist now in smaller numbers.
I got my Evolution, Cotton, and Dynamite' from simplygames, and I spoke to a friend of mine there, on the day they'd got the delivery (which had been shipped by accident from SNK) So I rang SNK straight away, and asked them to confirm which other titles had 'slipped' out, but they were very tight lipped, and the guy would only tell me 'off the record' that they had shipped a few games out by mistake, but the rest were being shipped back to Japan!
Not that they were all lost of course, because the impetus was growing from the loyal fanbase to locate any of the 'missing' titles, so a lot were shipped back from the east.
But the point is, that most of the collectors were not looking (at that stage) to buy every game for the system, we mostly wanted only the good ones! (mostly wink )
So the casino/puzzle games were being overlooked while we fought to get titles like Evolution, and of course while we tried to find out if there were any (even beta) copies of games like Ikari Warriors crying

Your right about some of the older UK games getting rare. Titles like 21, Puzzle Link 1, Shanghai, dont come up often now.
Thing was, they didnt sell well at the time, so a lot would have been sent back in the recall, and the ones sold since then on Ebay etc, could represent the bulk of the stock that still exists, simply because the games were so unpopular when the system was current.

Although, you mention them being tucked away in shops!!!
I know a guy who bought the whole stock of a shop recently (NGPC stock) and it consisted of (All new) 9 assorted consoles, and 35 games, including at least 4 of each of: Last Blade, MOTM, and CFC! The rest were normal titles like Pac-Man, R-2, Puzzle Bobble etc.
But!!!!! He paid £35 for the lot!!!
crying crying crying

I'd like to see that US Bust-a-Move clamshell though!! drool I could find a space for that in my collection!!

I'd still have to say that Pocket Reversi UK complete is the rarest of the English releases. You never see them and they are in high demand, which means people would list them if they had them.
I do think some of the other not as popular games like Neo 21, Neo Baccarat, and Picture Puzzle are rare for reasons Metal Slug was stating, but if they all of a sudden became collectable (like, EGM says "Holy Crap, this is rare!!"), then we'd see them come out of the woodwork.....

As far as hard-to-find, but not rare, but expensive, I'd have to say Gals Fighters UK is right up there. Late release, great game, can't find them (well, I have, but it ain't easy!)

You want rare? Find the multicarts with boxes! Specifically the 4-in-1 and the 5-in-1's!! Or the Melon Chan demo! One of these days I'll have to post my collection pics on the Collections page.... Some of you should too! Especially you, finnil!

"a US Clamshell one (they do exist). It was Puzzle Bobble Mini"

Puzzle Bobble Mini doesn't exist in US version. Well, it does actually, but it's called Bust A Move.
I'm sure there's no US plastic case.

There actually was an auction for one a few months ago. Not sure if someone made a bootleg though....

Hi 2D,
Good to hear from you again - it looks like we have both been keeping a lower profile for a while.
The clamshell US game was Bust-A-Move, NEOP00201. The cover is almost identical to the US cardboard version, including ESRB ratings, etc.

But not identical, correct? That suggests then that it isn't a bootleg...

That was right, Bust a Move, but with a clamshell case, and in English. If i remember, it went straight to you in the end, without passing through me, well certainly not literally anyway..... Does it look like a bootleg then?

If it is genuine then i think these are going to be difficult to find as well. And how many other title releases will there be like this?

A rare find indeed... why did i let you have it again??!!........ loco

It's not a bootleg. In addition to the clamshell case, the manual is also foldout instead of being a booklet.

For the first few months all the Neo Pocket releases in the US were clamshell. I think Pacman may have been the first cardboard release. September 1999, I think it was. This just about the same period that they stopped using clamshells in Japan and also when they stopped making multi-language packaging for Euro releases, I think.

If anyone wants one, I happen to have a Bust-a-Move clamshell that I'm looking to trade.

Actually, I have all these games I'm looking to get rid of:
Baseball Stars Color (US cardboard)
Bust-a-Move Pocket (US clamshell)
Delta Warp (Japanese cardboard)
Dive Alert Matt's (US cardboard)
Kikouseiki Unitron (Japanese cardboard)
KoF: Battle de Paradise (Japanese clamshell)
Master of Shogi Color (Japanese clamshell)
Neo Mystery Bonus (Euro clamshell)
Ogre Battle (Japanese cardboard)
Pacman (US cardboard)
Puyo Pop (US cardboard)
Puzzle Tsunagete Pon! B&W (Japanese clamshell)
Samurai Shodown! 2 (US cardboard)
Shanghai Mini (Euro clamshell)
and also a Platinum Silver US system.

All of which is boxed, complete and in excellent condition.

Hey Fish, you get my PM from this morning?

Actually, all of this talk brings up the Buying/Selling discussion from the other thread.... Hey mods, what can we do about it?

Yeah, I got everyone's messages. Time for sleep now, but I'll get back to you guys in the morning. I should say that, I've pretty much got all the Neo Poke games I need (too many obviously, which is why I'm getting rid of these ones), so I'd prefer other things if possible. Dreamcast, Famicom, Saturn, Lynx, maybe other stuff. Money, too, I guess. But yeah, I'll get in touch with you guys.
