Everyone is being so negative about the new system. You should be lucky they even made a converter and a new AESII system. I mean shit, they are helping the neo scene out.

*cough* those pads have got to go.

But besides that, good work guys

Its about damn time someone agreed, Ray is a kick ass fellow, he made a converter (noone belived would make it) it came.
He made a AES2 (noone belived it) it came.
Do we see a pattern, when I market neo toilet wipes you guys wont believe they will make it either. (seriously i plan on making them with dion and chris face on them, now you have another reason to wipe your ass)
Can I take preorders?

I have to disagree with you....we aren't being NEGATIVE, just being cautious and Skeptical. That picture doesn't prove anything more than they have a box, with two slots and a home cart of MOTW and MVS of MOTW and a spray painted PSX controller. I am happy and upset at the same time to see this break the light of day. I just got a convertor and because of the connectors being loose on my system I have to shell out money to get the connectors fixed. I went the route of MVS because the games are more abundant and cheaper....so I don't want to spend ALOT of money. Also how much is the convertor going to cost once this system comes out. If it hits the $350 price point...yeah right.....then what....I can trade my convertor in for a system? No one would do that....SO I think $350 is a dream price more than realistic. I think this system is cool...but the look is lacking a little. If you can't plug in a regular neo Stick or MAS arcade stick...then forget it...you're not going to get much support then. I do give ARCADE props for thinking of the Neo community when making this stuff.....just hope he thinks about them when he prices it....rather than seeing green dollar signs in his eyes........just my thoughts.....

The PSX clone controller was really unorigional. It looks like any generic one you can buy and wire up to a custom connector.

They should have just put the neo ports and mass stick style ports and left it at that. Them designing a controller from scratch would have been to expensive, thats probly why they didnt do it.

They could have just made AES 2 arcade sticks, similar to MASS ones but with their logo on them

I do admit that it would be great if the system does see the light of day. But I am picky when it comes to shelling out close to $1000 for a new game system. At that price, the game system BETTER look right and it BETTER play all home cart and MVS games. I mean, I've spent a pretty penny on getting games for this system, and I do my part on supporting the scene in any possible way that I can, by spreading knowledge on particular games, writinga few FAQs and maybe helping a few people get some games that they have a hard time finding. Sure... not as much as you, but at least I contributed something.
--------------------------------

I wasnt meaning to point out you directly.
My post was an over generalization directed at many negative posts.

The fact that I quoted you was not meant that I was aiming all that at you.
It seemed to me as a good place to start
so people could understand what I was meaning.
I know that you have always helped the scene. I was actually aiming at someone else with that, not that it matters.
I should be more careful with my quoting,
as im not very good at it.

Basiclly, All i want is for people to think,
why bash someone for contributing.
I dont understand this.

Its like some people think their convertors are now worthless. why???

quote:
"So if it does play MVS and Homecarts, that means that everyone that payed for the converter so far has gotten screwed right?"

Doesnt it still work? Did the phantom see the aes2 & just break itself in envy?
No one is saying that anyone needs to, or even should buy the product. If you bought a convertor & youve been happy with it, well isnt that money well spent?

maybe if the convertor had flopped, there would never be an aes2. So imo its quite possible that everyone who bought the phantom did help the scene. In the form of the aes2.

I just think its cool that there is another possible option.
More choices is just good IMO.

Also, price is just speculation at this point.
Someone said 850, gui said 350.
I dunno how much itll be. I have no idea.
But we should not down its price until there is one. Were all just guessing

quote:
" Do I deserve to be beaten upon just because I thought the system looked like a stainless steel safe with a few slots? "

No your very right, i didnt mean to accuse specificlly anyone. Especially not you, as we have almost allways seen eye to eye.

I was just blasting at the overall neg reaction the system had. Not at any of you guys.

Nice idea for a new system.

But it looks big and expensive.
That controller has to go too.
Let's hope they can make old controllers work with it.

Hey LI i think the system looks superb. But , what i'm sceptical about is the price.

Fact is that the converter costs $350 (recent dop?) . This thing has a AES and MVS board in one unit?. It has had a case made specially for it. All the little parts etc.

I could make a nice looking MVS console like that but to get all that in one box with an AES must take some skill and design.Of which arcade have proved they have in the tech department.

What i think is that , seeing as its based on what looks like a 2 lot MVS board , I assume that hes managed to get some sort of MVS-AES converter wired to the mainboard. Thus saving having two kinds of motherboard, i think this makes sense as the technology is already there (MVS). Now basically all he has to do is wire up a micro jamma loom and its job done.

Like i say this all takes money. If this is about right (could be miles off) you've got a converter plus a MVS board , PSU , Connectors , for the US people S-video or composite output and then the control ports.

After all this if it makes it in below $400 then i'm there fighting to the front of the queue.

But, how will people who bought a $400 converter feel?

And with that, if hes trying to get rid of his inventory of MVS converters , he cant sell them both with a price difference of $50.

Soon everything will become clear i hope

alot of time went into this machine.
which as usual the "doubters", once again shall soon see..
but there always has to be some lame or lames trying to discredit a good thing..
pure idiocy!!

you wanna know what? i predict a fall in the home cart market...
as for the price someone stated, there is no set price yet!

instead of disrespecting a company who has proved to keep there word, and has released nothing but great product, you should applaud them for trying to keep this scene from the death that is slowly creeping upoun it...

I applaud !Arcade!... This is great news. They are doing something SNK cannot even do. I'll bet that if we support them, they will do even more great things.

I agree, it does look very shoddy, but so what? If it does what Arcade promised it would do then I'm getting one.

I to think this is going to be a awesome product and earlier then I was told it was going to come out which is also great news.

As far as price goes as long as it is made well I do not have to much of a problem paying $650 to $800 for one. After all the abuse my SNK neos have taken it will be nice to box a sturdier box. Of course I hope it has alot of options like the svhs, mod chip, stereo.. not to mention the built in convertor. $350 would be why to low IMO for it.

I also hope they drop the AES II name, which I think they will. Unfortunitly I have not talked to them much since helping out with the convertor. Thier new site is just to hard to access from here at work and my time at home time is severaly limited.

to bad the Neo scene is so divided now though. aside from one group which I someday hope will disappear the community as a whole is several split which is a shame.

maybe Big Bear though will make a killing on the MVS cases now that there is a home unit that will take MVS carts. Now all someone needs to do is get the rights to print the manuals

I'll probably take one if it's below $400 (which is unlikely)
I think the design isn't that bad, but as everyone said, the controller must go.
How much do you guys think !Arcade! will market this one? $350 ? $850 ?
My guess is $499, wanna bet?

My Guess is $699.

If we can not use our current joysticks, I won't be gettin one. The design is a little boxy but will match with most stereo systems.

You must think I'm loco if you think I'd pay a $1000 for this thing. If you get an MVS converter for $300 and an AES for $300 then I'd expect the AES II to sell for less than $600.

$400 or $500 would be an attractive price.

yeah, it's just a generic PC pad.

BTW, what happened to the magical, "Transparent black AES II joysticks" that were talked about a while ago? Is this it?

BTW, i'm not going to buy this system. i already have a neo and i've got the skills to make a Jamma connector and buy a 1-slot. much cheaper and gratifying that way. ahh... stuff you built yourself... that's nice...

I think it's great! Yeah, it's just a box, but it looks built like a brick shit-house. Remeber SNK's old slogan: Bigger, badder, better. I think this is it. As foor the conroller thing, I sem to remember NeoLord saying that it was teo have 4 ports: 2 for Neo stick, and 2 for PC sticks.

Even if this isn't the case, I doubt that !Arcade! would forget to make it compatable with old sticks. Way to go !Arcade!

as for the price someone stated, there is no set price yet!

I SAID AROUND, I WAS ASKED PERSONALLY IF 350 WAS A GOOD PRICE, AND I WAS LIKE HELL YEAH....

I MEAN I WANTED A PINK ONE AND THE QUOTE WAS 1000.....

!ARCADE! WOULD BE FOOLS TO SELL IT FOR AROUND THAT PRICE IN LIGHT OF THIS!

I HOPE THEY SELL IT FOR ALOT MORE, SO THE IDIOTS CAN FEEL GOOD ABOUT HOW DUMB THEY REALLY ARE!

VCRS, COVERED IN EXTRAS COST A HELL OF ALOT LESS THAN THEY DID BACK IN THE DAY AND ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF TIMES BETTER AND MORE FUNCTIONAL.......
DID I MENTION THEY COST ALOT LESS YET?
WELL THEY DO COST LESS, BECAUSE PARTS ARE CHEAPER, AND THEYVE UPGRADED ON THE OLD ONE........BUT REALLY, IF YOU OFFERED SONY $800 FOR THEIR VCR, DO YOU THINK THEYD REFUSE?

I KNOW YOU GUYS CAN HAVE MY SIGNED VCR FOR JUST 900, AND YOU CAN FEEL GREAT ABOUT PAYING MORE!

I KNOW I WONT BE UNHAPPY!

No offense Big Bruno, but its kind of stupid to say you'll pay a ridiculously inflated price like 650-800 before the unit has been priced/released. Why don't you just wait and see what its priced at? The reality is that, priced at 650-800, the demand will be very low . . . but priced at 350, it would be quite high. Supply and demand, very simply. This is 11 year old hardware, with few to no new games scheduled for it . . . and making comments that you'll pay a ton for it doesn't help the rest of us.

Gui gave a good example with the VCR story, and yes, a $650-$800 would definetly mean a market failure. Who would pay that much for it? Not many, let me tell ya. Just look at how many ppl thought the convertor was too much, and it was $400.

2 for PC sticks.
------------------

Personally, I hope it has this:
Supports Neo Sticks.
Supports a PC ps/2 interface for PC sticks & keyboards. (would be great for mahjong)
Also It would let me use that crazy HotRod
arcade stick for ps/2. That thing is the coolest IMO.
Svideo Out.
Stereo Out.
If it had all of that, it would be perfect in my eyes.
We can always hope cant we.
