I want to make my own arcade stick but I cant find any square gate sticks, only circular ones. Does anyone know where I can get one a good quality one of these. I live in the UK.

Also I need some good quality convex buttons but I think I'll get them from ebay or somewhere. I know this must have been asked before but Im not sure what search key words to use.

Thanks people.

when they mention if the stick is 2 way, 4 way, or 8 way. Does that refer to the gate that it uses ? Id rather buy it all together in one lot than seperatly as its easier for me that way. I just want to know if I'll need anything extra than the stick, or of I need to buy the gate seperatly ?

Yes it refers to the gate.

Also Sanwa Joysticks allow you to change the gate to 4 way, but not a true 2 way. The Sanwa joystick comes with a sqaure gate.

Seimitsu sticks allow you to swap the stick by unscrewing the gate and moving it up or down.

As others have mentioned himuragames.com. You can see what the gates look like.

There is also a stick that allows you to chage the stick without taking it apart or un-screwing anything. When I find the site again I will post it.

Found it: http://www.groovygamegear.com/cgi/s...Y4MTIA&storeid=1&c=search.htm&categories=0029

I persoanlly don't own one, so I don't know how well they play. I've ordered from this site before, so they are legit.

I don't see how a JLF can be changed to 4-way.

Remove the restrictor plate, set it to 4way?

this thing right? Looks like you can just unscrew the restrictor, move 90 degrees one way and boom, it's 4way.

That's a JLW stick. I know they can be set to 4 way, that's why I said JLF. And BTW, the reason why the JLW can be set to 4 way is that the restrictor plate can shift 45 degrees and not 90, which wouldn't change anything:

The JLF has a restrictor plate that snaps in every 90 degrees and therefore it will always be in the same position:

The middle portion of the JLF plate can be rotated. You can snap it out.
