Lonesage would it be ok to wear my star wars shirt when i watch this in theater?
So you're saying, 13 year-olds?That’s exactly it. My son likes Star Wars, he also like McNuggets and can’t wipe his ass properly yet. That’s who this is made for.
I'll probably go see it after it's first week release. Due to the kids, we seldom have time for a night out. When we do go out to the movies, I'm a fan of a mostly empty theater, not rushing, not having to deal with assholes.
Maybe I'm getting old, but I could care less about bitching about the Star Wars series. Growing up with the films, I'm not looking for deep meanings or trying to interpret what the director was trying to convey. It's a sci-fi adventure series that entertains me. My biggest joy recently has been the reaction that my kids have when they watch the series.
If I wanted to have an in depth conversation and verbal deconstruction about a recent film, I'd revisit Aronofsky's Mother!. I'm not wasting time discussing some incel's take on how a supporting female character ruined a film, supporting character plot holes, and a disproportionate bare-chested lead when the same film involves a Wookie's penchant and guilt for eating Porgs.
People want to bash on the butthurt...like me, but we're the long lasting fans of the SW universe.
I look at it this way, I'm a Chicago Bears fan...always have been, always will be. There's times when I love being a fan, I love what the team does and the choices they make. There's other times when I think the team is shit and don't agree with what the management does. In the end, it doesn't kill my being a fan just because I call them out when they make poor decisions and have shit seasons.
SW is currently under shit management. I don't like the current product, I'm not a fan of the shit in a box currently slapped with a Star Wars label. When this management is gone and forgotten, there will still be the real fans. Good times will come and go, shit times will come and go. SW is too big, too popular, and too valuable to die. It will come around again and if management ever changes to people with real talent and vision, I'll be there waiting to chuck money at them once again.
For now? Just like a 2-14 NFL team, there's just nothing there to enjoy at the moment, the product is shitty. Hammering people like me because we're calling it what it currently is is absurd, because we'll still be here decades from now.

The Palpatine thing feels like they were terrified of fan reaction to The Last Jedi and the box office on Solo, and have retreated back to trying to tell the same story, with the same villain, yet again.
They need to convince Lucas to help make the next movies, as a producer, IMO. The sequel trilogy has been financially successful. I think it's having good actors that do the most to make a film good, as well as having a good story. No one cares anymore.
Star wars is dead.
I won't be satisfied with any other answer than "Snoke was Plagueis."If they dont rectify the massive "Who/what the fuck was/is Snoke?" plot hole then it's an instant failure.
The start of Episode 7 was so bad I almost walked out. The tone was all wrong. It was immediately clear, this was not "our" Star Wars. If you can get past that, and put aside your feelings of ownership towards something none of us owns, there's definitely enjoyment to be had from these new movies. However, whether it's watching new Star Wars sequels, or playing old video games, our childhoods are not coming back. If you can't accept that times change and let go of such things, you're going to be perpetually miserable. Like a drug addict thinking if he can only get that next fix all will be right with the world, you're setting yourself up for disappointment every time.
Luke rejecting the Jedi order (as it is depicted in the prequels trilogy)? Not a problem. The right move, in fact.
Disposing of the Rey parentage mystery? Fine.
Disposing of Snoke? Fine.
Getting Kylo Ren to stop playing dress-up? What's the problem? Kylo Ren outgrowing his costume and his master are probably the best parts of it. I mean, I've only watched it once.
yeah...i'm going to pass on this movie
