When I worked for a web design firm here in NYC we designed all of our pages on an 800x600 setting. It just makes things easier for those who have bigger or smaller monitors, as the page will pretty much fit. Cross-compatibility issues between Nutscrape and Microsoft Enema Explunger are another different thing altogether. We could go on for years trying to figure out why this browser does something better than that browser and all that other madness...

I've yet to go to the supposed new NGF page, but if it's anything like their old one it can't be all too impressive. Besides, doing "source code" and replacing text & images doesn't always work these days. <IMG SRC="smilies/tickled.gif" border="0">

Most people still use 800X600 for browsing.

1024 people can still view a site designed for 800 resolutions, but people using 800 have a hard time viewing a site desgined for 1024.

Personally I think 800 is a much better choice for web developement. I'll admit I don't give too much thought to 640 res. That's just too low.

I agree, 800x600 is the best target for webpage development. The vast majority of people are still at this level, so it doesn't make any sense to develop pages for 1024x768. While at home I do browse at 1024, at work I'm at 800x600 and thats the overall standard right now.

And Jeff and others here are right, if "NGF-USA" had any professionalism, they'd develop their site targeted at 800x600 . . . just another example of how they are nothing more than a cheesy basement operation. <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">
