SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

I just got a Mega-CD front loader unit, and tried to hook it up on my Sega Genesis (Altered Beast unit) and it will not work. Now the bummer is I used to have this unit back in the day, and I know there is this mod that has to be done inorder to turn it into a Mega Drive, But I forgot. Does anyone know how? And I already know that the newer GEN games will not work on the system anymore, however the majority of my collection is all mega drive anyway.

be aware that the jap. MCD will only play jap games, no matter the country of the genesis.

I just tried that link and nothing came of it. Does it still exist? And thanks for the info however I have no intentions of playing any of the Sega CD games.
