Wow!!!
After all this time I'm writing something different on the forum!!! A lot of new faces here so I don't know everyone and they probably don't even know of me but I like being mysterious
This is going to be one of 'those' threads by the way.
What kind of thread do you ask?
The kind where I sit down and realize I'm playing Lunar Eternal Blue again!!!! On my SegaCD of all things!!!! Why? I loved the game a lot and for some reason I just couldn't fully swallow the PS remix. I've just defeated Borgon that 'Fatarsed' wizard and feel pretty good knowing how much of a pain in he ass he was on the SegaCD version.
From there I dusted off an ole Genesis Cart from the shelf and popped in COLOUMNS. Yes you read it right. The game being another Tetris ripoff I still enjoyed a lot over Tetris itself. I sat there and played for about 40 minutes before I realized I was having fun. After that I decided what the hell let's go really fruity and popped in Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition. I have only one gripe about the which was the poor voiceovers but the Genesis overall did a great job and no matter what ANYONE says the Genesis 6 button pad was WAY better that the Snes for Street Fighter HANDS DOWNS.
After beating on M.Bison with Guile, Zangief, Blanka and Chun-Li,I moved onto the mood for a good shooter. I decided what the hell let's make this a Genesis day and loaded up in order. M.U.S.H.A., ThunderForce III and Lighting Force. Now these are what classic shooters are about! Being able to sit down and just blast away for hours on end and not worry about how many pologons does that boss have or what's the frame count on the huge sprite. Simple Classic Fun.
Finally for the day and feeling like some downtime of sorts from the Hand-Eye coordination factor I said 'Ok. It's RPG time again' Instead of jumping back on Lunar,I proceeded to work on finishing Shining in the Darkness again. This is still a classic game and what i consider one of Climax's best works. Made it pretty far this time around. Finally on Level 5 but I'm bsing around trying to get Rare Weapons and Items from Monsters with the 'Muddle 2' Spell. Once I get a Super Flail and an Ogre Horn, I'll finally stomp Dark Sol into the dirt.
Now why am I typing all this? No reason really. If I DID have one, It would be to say that even with the newer games and systems coming out, I never get tired of a classic. From Final Fantasy III, Phantasy Star II & III*Yes I liked Part III. Deal with it*, To old games like Contra, Life Force, and even old school Streets of Rage which I make a note to play once a week out of respect for Yuzo & Sega who I both love for this game, that in the end no matter how GOOD new games are, You can never beat a classic. So those of you who are bailing on your Dreamcast systems like hot Potato's and call yourselves gamers, SHAME ON YOU!! When you buy a System, Don't sell it becuase it might be dying. You'll find yourself kicking yourself in the ass everytime you think, Man I really liked that game on my Dreamcast, Snes or Genesis*Or Insert Favorite system of choice*. In the end Yes I'm happy about newer games coming out. I'm not Happy about how people I've met treat their old systems like junk. It may be just games to you but if you found yourself enjoying that game, Then you need to give it more respect. There I've said my peace...
