I will be buying it for sure. I want Ep 2, but I liked TF back in the original HL days so I am looking forward to this as well. Did they keep the escort missions in 2? I haven't heard any word of game types so far, just talk about the classes.

I thought the escort missions were some clever tricks on the part of mappers, right? Or were they actually built-in, but unutilized?

I have not preordered it for PC yet, I have been thinking about it though.

Three big online multiplayer titles I am interested in are also coming to the 360/PS3 (Unreal/Quake Wars/TF2), so I am really debating putting any more money into my PC and just going with the console versions. In the past, console ports have usually been a little lacking, but I think the current-gen consoles can handle these games. I just hate when console ports get smaller player capacities.

24 players on PC, 16 on console (TF2). :p

Hopefully the PS3 port will support kb/m.

I dunno, I probably will get it on PC too. I LIVED on TF back in '99 or so. Clans, ladder matches, all that. Funny, we did all our communication by typing, no voice chat or anything like that. Half the people on our team played on dialup. I remember being on cable and having a nice advantage while sniping.

I seriously hope this sequel plays as well as the original.

I don't know about you, but I still do all my communication by typing. Much clearer than trying to understand someone's shitty mic (that's why I hated playing on Live when I had a 360).

I wonder if the beta starts at midnight, or some time during the day. Can't find any info. I'ma stay up and wait anyway.

Fuck it, I just prepurchased for the PC.

I'm downloading TF2 now. I'll still probably get it on 360 to play with some friends, and on my big screen from the comfort of my lazy boy.

So now that Steam has community features be sure to add me as a friend. The name is the same as my XBL/PSN handle.

Man, as soon as the beta opened up, I felt like a kid on Christmas, feeling giddy with excitement. I played for 2 hours straight, using all the different classes, and just loving every minute of it.

Add me to you friends list on steam, its the same name that I have on the boards.

I got your invite and accepted it.

I didn't play long, as it only currently runs for me in windowed mode, which is annoying as fuck. If I don't add the -window command to the startup options, the game crashes after the Valve logo.

I'm not too frustrated though, I'm sure they will patch the issue before retail release. It is still a beta product after all.

The brief time I did play reminded me how much I used to hate spies.

It feels strange, like coming home after being gone a really long time.

Well windowed mode sucks, and it has started crashing frequently.

I partially blame the shitty OS that is Vista, and I plan to purge it from my PC soon.

The game really is buggy though, Valve has a LOT of work to do to get this game ready for release next month.

Yeah, I picked this up on the 17th. TF2 is great. Shame so many people are having problems with it running full screen...you're definitely not alone GD, a few people I've talked to also have that problem in vista. Go back to XP man. Vista is garbage.

I haven't really hit any bugs, aside from the little "Your Liver!" tags in the deathcam not being in the right place. I'll add you guys to my friends if I remember; I reboot to XP to play because I don't get the pretty shading under WINE, and so I usually don't keep Steam open under Ubuntu.

They did patch the game a few days ago so full screen is working properly for me. Yes, I don't particularly love Vista, but I'm too lazy to wipe and reinstall XP right now. The only two PC games I play (WoW and TF2) are both now running stable so I don't see the need.

I did run into a Steam issue yesterday where the damned client was slow as fuck. I couldn't log into the community portion to look at my friends list either, it kept rejecting my username/password. I gave up after 20 minutes and wrote it off to network issues on their end.

Never played HL2, so I'll definitely be picking this up for the 360.

My comp's way too slow to even think about the PC version.

It would have to be pretty slow..

The Source engine runs on a lot of older hardware. I had a friend playing CS:Source on a 9800 Pro which is what, a 5 year old video card maybe?

Anyway, I'm still getting both, I'm such a sucker for certain games. :emb:
